eff that.

It better be 50 episodes. Its been WAY too long since the last proper 50 episode mecha anime epic.

I, personally, wouldn't want it to be 50 episodes if it ended up as bloated and awkwardly paced (in parts) as the original series.

It was a bit too slow for me and I wanted a bit more of a sense of adventure (too angsty and badly paced). The show was a bit too heavy for me. Not saying it was bad but it was definitely not my cup of tea.

Best part of the show for me was the Ray and Charles arc.

That stuff that would be lost by making the original 26 episodes was what I would consider the best parts of it (aside from the soccer ep, lulz).

The real question is; was this planned all along? There were rumblings shortly after the E7 movie that a season 2 was in the works, but nothing ever came of it(until now). There was plenty of artwork which supports the idea, such as the one shown on the first page.

You have a real fondness for the beginning?
I loved the show from the very first minute. Episodes like the one where they are stuck in the cave and Renton meets the old man digger were by far my favorite. Beautiful atmosphere, genuine and moving as well. But really there isn't a single part of the show I dont love (cept the soccer one). Theres been nothing made like it since imo.

Any hopes of seeing animation like in the original show/Gundam Unicorn quality? I hope so.

I really enjoyed Eureka Seven all those years ago. I thought just the concept and environments were really unique.

Wasn't Kyoda rumoured to be working on a BONES mecha show a while back? could this be what was rumoured all along.:o

Yes, this is most likely the Kyoda mecha anime being produced at BONES' A Studio for most of this year. The Star Driver mecha animation staff supposedly transferred to A Studio after the show wrapped up, to start prepping for this.

Star Driver had some really nice action bits. Maybe we can expect to see that here.

Have there been any other rumours that could match up to what could be going on with this?

While I personally loved the 50-episode length of E7, I think the new series will be perfectly fine at 25-episodes, especially if you consider that the production values of the original series couldn't even be maintained for the full length of the series to begin with, anyway.

I don't think that kind of thing was a problem, well, not that specific episode, I actually think it was the 'main plot' that really went off the rails half-way through the series. Anyway, I'm not hear to talk about the past, but to speculate on the future.

I predict some sweet music, at the very least.

I wonder who will be doing the mech designs. Doubt its Kawamori, only person I can think of would be Nakata as full on designer or Koyama...

There usually aren't any BONES rumors which contradict with each other. That's the main reason why I'm pretty sure they're real. B Studio has been making Towa no Quon throughout this year. C Studio wrapped up on Star Driver early this year and went straight into Un-Go. D Studio wrapped up on Milos earlier this year and went straight into No.6.

The only rumors about what BONES was up to throughout this year was that the Star Driver mecha animation team is at A Studio working on a new mecha series that might be headed by Kyoda, and that Mizushima was directing a new BONES show which is a scifi near-future take on Ango Sakaguchi's Dectective Stories, scripted by Aikawa.

Kawamori will still have to be credited.

Did they really? I didn't watch the whole show but all the mech on mech action sequences were all well done, don't remember any repeated uses of animation.

Maybe I didn't get far enough to see.

Some, but not all of them, by any stretch. And the finale was nothing but amazing mecha animation for about 20 minutes solid.

Yeah the final is fuckwowsome.

Wish that "grabbing" move didn't exist though, what a shitty way to end fights.

Just agree to disagree, thats it lol.

Either way, I just hope this delivers the heart and feeling that the original E7 did.

One of my favorite animes this past decade and I just picked up the series last night on DVD!!!! I barely watch anime nowadays so this is good AWESOME news to hear!!!!

Is there a MILF Eureka? I hope we'll see a MILF Eureka.

I like the way you think.

This show will need SHOUNEN NO HAATO and characters comparable to Charles and Ray to be good. Color me cautiously pessimistic about all of this.

How could you forget that Miyaji directing something new for Bones?

It's sad that Eureka Seven and other shows like it turn into crapfests with their strange and confusing alien transformation garbage.

This is the real deal. The past 5 years BONES have been saving their money and mojo for this very occasion.

No one dare try to argue this with me.

Decent anime with some AWESOME music, but the only thing I can remember clearly from that show is how much I fucking hated those children in the last batch of episodes. Just unbridled hate.

OH MY GOD

DUCKROLL YOU LIED TO ME, YOU SAID IT WAS A MANGA

BONES TV ANIME

EUREKA SEVEN

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

/faints

If this sucks like the movie, life will not be worth living anymore. It doesn't have to be as perfect and amazing as the best mecha anime we call Eureka Seven, but it better be good!!

^^I didn't lie! It was a manga before I went to bed! Somehow it transformed into an anime while I was dreaming!

Oh, OK. That was from his own Twitter account, I guess; more a tease than a rumor.

He didn't say it was BONES though. It might be, I'm not sure. The photos are too small!

The only thing that worries me is that Astral Ocean isn't a reference/nod to any sort of musical/pop culture afaik. I like how the original series was smart and all about little nods to music like the TB303, LFOs, joy division, etc... even pocketful of rainbows was an Elvis song.

I want to believe the show will still have the smart edge that made it stick out from the script perspective as much as the visuals and music did from the other areas.

Also the mech's beam rifle makes me think original E7 = Gundam 0079, this E7 = Zeta Gundam.

I don't think "Psalm of Planets" was a musical reference either

Anyone else see the butt area of the mech looking like a motorcycle wheel? I wonder if this Nirvash transforms into a car :P
