Eurogamer 360 vs PS3-Face: Round 15

At this point, the differences are so negligible that it doesn't matter anymore.
I'm too damn busy enjoying Dead Space and Bioshock and Fallout 3, etc etc.

Aren't the Fallout 3 differences pretty noticeable? It even got points docked in multiple sites.

If you have a 360, there's 0 reason to pick up Fallout 3 on the Ps3.

PS3 version has some pretty bad bugs. Who knows if they'll be ironed out.
If you have both systems, 360 is the right choice. (it has it's own bugs but are relatively minor)

according to b3d

720p, 4xAA on 360
720p 0xAA on ps3

thats pretty noticable

Haha, that just comes down to personal taste.

My GOTY 2007 was Picross DS. But I bet that's not true for everyone.

Ha of course, I'm serious though people need to start copying to Fable2 formula and fast I could care aless about platform.

In fact I wish Fable 2 would come out on PC so I could see what it looks like @ 1080p with all the bells and whistles.

They look the same except for the fact someone turned down the color and contrast, and turned up the brightness in one of them a wee tiny little bit. :lol

Those two screens are worthless for comparison sake because those slight meager differences are nothing that cannot be done using the TV adjustments.

you missed some aliasing and shimmering...

My x360 launchmodel suffers from constant disc read errors. I only play exclusives on it to increase it's chance of surviving this generation. If it breaks I won't replace it.

About the article, nothing new. Everybody already knew most multiplatform titels look a little bit better on the x360 since it still is the lead platform for many games. Whatever graphical difference there is, it's not big enough to affect my decision of which version to buy.

dont worry, i wouldn't be surprised if it did. fable: lost chapters came out on the PC.

Not only is that reason old and at large bs, you could've called MS already and ask for a replacement. Why didn't you?

I was thinking it had 4X AA as you can tell it first thing.

From monkspider in the Bioshock thread on the PS3 version.

He 1100/1100'ed the 360 version and got the Platinum trophy on PS3 version.

I hope all that came from the patch because it was noticeably worse comparing it simply to the demo as I've played both.

It's not bs if it's the truth.

I tried a disc slot cleaning disc but half of my games (especially ME and LO) still crash because of DRE's. MS doesn't replace/repair units untill they RROD, and I doubt towelling my x360 will fix the faulty DVD drive.

rrod it, you get a new drive anyway in the refurb

Actually, Reports say MS replaces all drives on all models that go through the repair centers with the newer and more reliable LiteOn drive (because it's pirate proof).

Bah..we are so far into this gen that i think just about most multi platform games are a wash now days.. its not like it was at first.. i mean yeah there are differences and all..usually tiny differences though.. you really cant lose with what version you go with.. now someone like me that has both systems..i usually go with 360 versions of multi platform games just because you might as well go with what ever version may be slightly better.. besides, i really enjoy xbox live's online service a great deal more

Heat it up. Seriously. Cover that thing with blankets and stuff and make it get so hot that it rrods, until it RRods constantly, then send it to Ms.

If that's what it takes. Why submit yourself to a console that has constant DRe's? Make moves man.

yes but thats UE3, we all know ps3 and ue3 dont get along

Except for AA (PS3 has no eDRAM so no easy way around that) I think ME is the best UE3 PS3 game ... except for maybe UT3. From what I recall UT3 on PS3/360 are the same pretty much as well. Except for aliasing, DICE seems to have nailed everything else.

The issues with Fallout3 on PS3 are puzzling since it's an updated Oblivion engine (I think), and Oblivion ran really well on PS3. Bethesda must've ran out of time on it.

That and the fact that they said Pure was a better game than Motorstorm Pacific Rift just screams bias.

They said more fun.

Aside from being gloriously fun in a way that MotorStorm: Pacific Rift fails to match,...

That sounds subjective to me.

But no, don't let that deceive you. They meant it's a better game. A much better game. If it wasn't so obviously bias of them to do so, they would have included of pic of them taking turns defecating on Motorstorm.

LOL - complete bullshit, there are some minor AA issues, but on xbox360 too.

There's definitely a selective 4xAA on the 360 version of Fallout 3 vs. 0xAA on the PS3 version, as you can see it in this picture:

I was hoping that the fall update would solve this problem by installing the games on my harddrive. But the fact that they replace the drive would be helpfull as well.

so much butt hurt in one thread :lol

these comparisons have never lead me wrong guys. why would you doubt their comments?

Reminds me of the fanboys who tought GTA4 was equal on both platforms.

I'm in the PS3 camp but I don't tend to buy the games that are released for both platforms. Any PS3 owner will tell you that the best games on PS3 are the exclusives - MGS4, Warhawk, SSHD, Wipeout, Drakes, LittleBigPlanet, etc...

This is with the exception of just a few games that have been released for both and have been well made for both - for example Call of Duty 4 (BioShock is great too). Often the PS3 version of a game is inferior to the xbox 360 version. I'm stating the obvious by saying that this has been due to the laziness of certain developers making shoddy PS3 ports from a game originally done for the 360, ahem, EA, ahem.

Anyway, thankfully the situation is changing now that the PS3 is "coming into it's own" and PS3 owners have more games to choose from in stores and don't have to settle for shoddy ports. I'm pleased to read that some dual-platform games will have the PS3 as the "lead platform".

Anyway, normally I don't get involved in such debates - PS3 vs 360. Who cares which is best? However, just wanted to point out that the comparison is not really accurate.

yep, EDRAM making the difference in AA as promised

dev who works on both machines
It takes no extra ram on 360 because it's all done in the 10mb of edram (tiled). It takes extra memory on PS3 though. It's that double memory/performance whammy that makes msaa tough to pull off on multi platform games.

So you're saying you played both demos?

Full 360 version and the demos of both. If the full game and patch still reflects the demo that was sent out that simply would not be the case. There would have to be a noticeable upgrade.

Oh, I thought you played both full versions.

So funny I know, knee slapping. Simply put if one were to judge this game by testing the demos that would not be the case whatsoever and you can hahahaha all you want buddy.

yea he is just being an ass he knows which version is inferior from a tech standpoint.
Hoping against hope that the full game makes a huge difference.

I'm glad people don't simply judge by the demo.

I'm going by what users who love the game and have played all 3 versions have to say about it.

I understand the slight tech inferiority of the PS3 version in screenshot comparisons.

Glad for ya maybe that line of thought will boost it's sales potential, heh.

I don't get why multiconsole owners put so much faith in PS3 versions. It's like a game of russian roullette, except only one chamber is empty instead of 5.

Oops, not to say gamers don't judge games by the demo. Of course we all do.
I just meant merits of games can't be decided from a demo. So you have even less to say as you haven't even played/beaten the full game (version of it).

I'd quite like to see audio comparisons added to these... but unless you're talking about flat out 7.1 vs 5.1 I guess they're a lot harder to detail.

Also, those saying that the Dead Space thing is bullshit. Could you be slightly more specific?

Ninja Kn1ght said:
Wow, That is pure bullshit about Dead Space, that should have been a tie. The difference in sound quality deserves a mention.

Thats a feather in the hat for PS3, so it should not be mentioned.

Holy shit, you're not supposed to use those at all on the 360! Your 360 needs a pot-tweak to the laser.

The inevitable conclusion would be that for anyone without a $1500 sound setup would be unlikely to tell the difference.

To which they would be serenaded with a chorus of 'teh bias' from all the chapped asses.
