European PlayStation sites redesigned

Personal bias notwithstanding, I really like it. A much faster and cleaner navigation, and generally easier on the eye (plain whites/blacks for backgrounds always appear better for resdesigns where there's a lot of visual/active content).

BTW, what the hell is Codename: Panzers for PS3? Never heard of it

A decent strategy title from CDV.

The forums will be the biggest change I guess. Will most likely end up as the mypsp forums(which are much better than the old European PlayStation forums).

Edit: Hopefully Sony will get a united 'worldwide' website ala Xbox.com when PS3 launches.

All-Flash websites need to die horribly. The vast majority of the silly special effects can be done with things like CSS, DHTML and animated GIFs, and without any of the disadvantages of using Flash (higher CPU load, can't bookmark or link pages, can't copy and paste text). Visually, the site looks nicer than it did before, but I can't consider the transition to all-Flash to be an improvement, so I'd have to say it sucks.

Ok so I'll give you the use of flash for small things like gif animation, but the original poster's points are very valid. Oh and saving resources like images is much easier when Flash is out of the way.

i agree that flash only sites arent exactly the best use of resources, but flash isn't going away for a long time. when people start learning how to utilize some of flash 8's key features like bitmap caching, it can be a very powerful tool. that and flash is slowly starting to take over as a major player in video handling.

I'm not saying that Flash should go away entirely. What I'm saying is that it should only be used for things that actually need it, like interactive content. Stuff like links, menus, highlighting, etcetera is perfectly possible in modern browsers without using Flash. And there's the accessibility factor too - have all these companies forgotten that we have laws that require company websites to be compatible with accessibility software? I bet it's a lot easier to be compliant with those regs in regular HTML.
