Even more 3DS press conferences in early February

This seems like the best thread to ask.

Anyone in the UK going to the London or Manchester events. Have you heard if you are going or not yet? For those of us who didn't get/apply for a place through the sponsors (Eurogamer Expo, GAME, Future Publishing etc) they did say they would let you know the Wednesday before the event, which in the case of those locations is today yet I've recieved no word and the working day is about to end.

I'm wondering if I filled the e-mail in wrong or its just a case of everyone being in the dark. Then again given the system for applying for the events went live othe Wednesday beofre (26th Jan) but it took until Friday (28th Jan) for Nintendo to send e-mails "inviting" people to apply.
Just as I was about to reply about "ugh no news, this crap is awful" etc...this popped into my inbox. I kid you not the exact moment:
nintendo-uk-3ds-event.jpg

Edit: Looking at the website of the venue the Manchester event the least people there would be like 15 and the most...450. Yikes.
Edit2: The venue isn't usually for hire at weekends. Nor is it usually open on Sundays or Saturday mornings. Nintendo must have splashed some cash on this...

I wonder if they will be reusing the demo stuff from that Amsterdam shindig, or will it just be the launch lineup.

Hopefully I'll get my confirmation next week.

Seems like a day of 'local' NoE events to give people who weren't invited to the big event a chance to report on the 3DS. Nothing like a big conference or something.

The events you are referring to are the so-called "Nintendo 3DS Experience Night" which take place in four different German cities between February 10th and 21st.

Sweet. Just received my email.

If I click the link in the email do I have to print out my ticket there and then, or can I come back and do it later?

Its a PDF file so you can save it. Thats what I'm doing due to having no printer in my room. I'll print the PDF at work.

Trying now the page doesn't seem to want to load for me so I'd save it to be on the safe side. End of the day only one of you can go in as they activate the tickets (if you got the facebook app it will tell everyone to burgle your house) so it would throw up an error. I guess to stop identical twins...or people with fake IDs...

Yep, got my email a few hours ago. I'll be going along to the London event this Sunday, in the morning. Anyone else going? JohnathanEx?

Pretty excited!

Thanks.

Ooohhh. The Bristol event seems to be in a nice venue. I was expecting it to be in HMV.

• Manchester and London - 5th and 6th February 2011
Actually clicking the link I find London is full and the timeslot I'm going to Manchester is as well...auto e-mailed messages FTL.

Quite interesting how the distribution of full places is and how it differs between places but Sunday looks to be quieter (but can I seriously say that, it could be a few places away from full), hopefully this isn't a move I regret...

I was au Louvre at the 3DS event (during all week long) this morning in Paris. Very nice organisation, feel like I'm priviliged now even if it's nothing :lol
Good coffee, cressents, and people (both guests like me and hostesses), and for quicks hands-on impressions:

Paper Mario gain really something with 3D, you better take Kid Icarus voice acting at the second degree, Mario Kart jumping out when everything else looks like in a little box, Steel Diver will be your very favorite, Pilotwings Resort have the Pilotwings style, really relaxing in free mode, same musics thats rocks etc.., and Ocarina 3D, I know very well this one so I fully appreciated every volume, every space in 3D. Deku Tree entrance and cutscene were great, I can't wait to see Desert Colossus or the ghost ship in the Shadow Temple.

Oh, and I read the last part of Iwata interview this morning before departing so, I watched carefully at the back and battery cover of the system, and yes, it is a nice little design improvement ^^ The anti-fingerprint thing is real too, at least on the lower part, I didn't try to voluntary trash the upper screen ^^

If anone wonders for the different dates of the events Nintendo has provided a very limited number of 3DS (I think 20, at least that's the amount that will come to my country) that make a tour across European countries under the supervision of a Japanese representative from parent company and 2 assistants of him.

ah my bad yeah I guess if anyone doesn't know like my dumb ass.

* Pilotwings Resort
* Nintendogs + Cats
* Steeldiver
* Dead or Alive
* Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
* Madden NFL
* Super Street Fighter IV 3D
* Asphalt 3D
* Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
* Ridge Racer 3D
* Resident Evil: The Mercenaries
* LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

Judging by the list I think I'll go with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries and maybe Street Fighter (Ive bought this game 3 times now though)
That lineup actually lacks a killer app as far as I'm concerned, unless Steel Diver turns out to be a lot better than it looks. I might get Mercenaries as a graphics showcase and SSIV to waste time if they're priced reasonably.

Pretty disappointed that Nintendo is withholding OoT.

I'm going to the London event. I got an email from Nintendo/Eurogamer on Tuesday that asked me to confirm the time I'm going.

I got my ticket yesterday. If you haven't got it yet, it's probably too late now.

Edit: Ahh cool, you got your ticket in the end! (Bit late there, but at least you got it!)

BTW: Do you really only get 30 mins to try out the 3DS?! I'd hope you get a bit longer! (how the hell are you supposed to do anything with it if you only get 30 mins?!)

I'll be going to the London event this Saturday at 7pm. I noticed that when you could book it was for every half hour so does that mean I'll only get half an hour? Who else is going to London sat evening?

I'm going at 5:30. Anyone know if you really only get 30 mins?

I was thinking it's more likely to be multiple set ups with a rotation between sections - like a more rigid version of the Amsterdam set up. 30 mins on one set then on to the next set.

I've declined this time, but wouldn't mind a 2nd play if they do a non-trade midlands one (there was a retail one in Birmingham which only stores were invited to).

Price is now £199 in Dixons if anyone interested.

Just as long as they don't force you to play 5 minutes of every launch title in turn I'll be okay.

Oh yeah the Aussie one is Tuesday Night Sydney time, will be tweeting the result.

In a sense its my fault for mis-reading the small print and getting in a state on panic. It said the Wednesday before an event is when they would close bookings (though it seems Manchester not getting fully booked meant they changed this somewhat) and that the tickets would be sent out on Wednesday or Thursday. The small rpint also has a great list of events that could cancel the event such as War plus the always classic no dogs permitted except for guide dogs (you'd think "Hi I'm here for the 3DS, I'm blind" but I guess trainee guide dogs count as guide dogs).

Btw, these were the Nintendo tickets not the Eurogamer or Future Publishing ones (I assume GAME and HMV also had some allocation but I can see it going towards their staff to be honest).

As for total numbers of 3DS and Japanese reps. I wonder if they have the Japanese reps for all countries (or just those without much Nintendo staff presence) and how the 3DS get distributed between regions. Madrid, London and Machester all have events at the same time. Maybe the sunday has less people for the latter two with say, half the systems being sent off to Spain.
