Three men were shot and one killed in a building i worked in about an hour after i left.

Same workplace had its window busted down with a newspaper dispenser, and stuff was thrown around inside, but nothing valuable was taken.

Prostitute/waitress used to steal tips off other workers and overcharge customers to make cash on the side. She also stole from donation boxes (like Make-a-Wish). Other waitresses skimmed money off the top, but she went all out.

Friend and coworker at this same place was jumped/robbed one night by several guys and became permanently brain damaged. We had left work at the same time but went different directions. Now he stocks vegetables.at Marcs.

Damn Crunched, I think you "win" this topic. Sorry about your friends and coworkers.

When I was working at Papa Johns someone got robbed on a delivery. It was notable only because it was on a military base at one of the barracks.

Yep pizza delivery.

Late at night got a delivery order. Drove to the location and all the lights in the house were off, should have been warning number one. Walked up to the door and noticed a grimy teenager standing and staring at me from the next yard over, should have been warning number two.

Of course there was no answer at the door so I waited a few minutes until it was obvious nobody was coming. Decided fuck it and headed back to the car. I got in the car and started it but before I could put it into drive I felt cold metal on my temple.

It was the grimy teenage dude. He demanded all of my money and this is where things take a turn. I looked at this kid, literally as old as my teenage sister and thought this kid doesn't have the balls. I replied "Fuck do you think you are, I'm not giving you shit."

He raised the gun and slapped me across the face with it. This was my opportunity. I threw the car in drive and floored it while laying down in the passenger seat. Grimy dude shot 3 bullets at my car. One went through the back window shattering it. Another caught my driver side mirror and a third lodged in the drivers side door jam.

It was a giant rush of adrenaline.
Whoa, that's an amazing story.

Not a robbery unfortunately, but somewhat funny.

I am a software developer that works in regular tech-y offices.

About 3 years ago, I was working away at my desk and some random dude that I've never seen before (our company only has ~100 people so I know all the faces) comes into my area and sits down at the unoccupied desk beside me. He opens the drawers, pulls out a stack of papers and starts going through them. He looks stoned. I instant-message my coworker who's sitting behind this stranger: "you know this guy?". He replies: "nope".

So we both get up, approach the guy and ask him who he is and what he wants. He's clearly stoned. Asks for some guy whom we don't know. So we escort him out of the office, to the elevator, press the ground floor button, and tell him to never come back.

We later found out that the guy he was asking for was actually the name of a bar next door :)

(that's about as much drama as you're gonna get at a tech-y company)

four teenagers in hoods barged into this convenience store I was working at several years ago....

lucky this was Australia so they only had wooden planks/clubs rather than guns...

I had a cricket bat under the counter so I started waving it around like a madmen.....

as it was a long horizontal counter the length of the store, they ran outside waiting for me to chase after them (and I assume take me down four on one) but lucky I composed myself and called the cops....

scariest moment of my life

No, but the pizza place across the street from me got robbed while I was getting dish network installed. Pretty embarassing :/

I was working in a supermarket and two guys robbed it one evening. One guy had a shotgun and a handkerchief covering his nose and mouth. The other guy had a handgun and duct tape on his face. They took the cash from the store office and all of the registers.

I got "quick change"d as a Pizza Hut delivery guy. Dude wearing a Goodwill t-shirt and everything. He paid in exact change, then for the tip he help up a $10 bill and asked for two fives. I gave him the two fives, then he was like "Alright, thanks!" and closed the door without giving me the $10. I didn't notice till I got back to the store.

My girlfriend's college roommate got quick changed at HEB (grocery store) for over $200.

As an ex-delivery driver...you ever hear about that dude who went for a delivery, and a few people put a bomb on his collar and made him rob a bank? Had a bad ending, too.

http://www.wired.com/magazine/2010/12/ff_collarbomb/

From what I hear someone made a movie off of that premise. Felt it was in poor taste.

30 Minutes Or Less.
They even made it a pizza delivery guy.
EDIT: Reading more about the case... The motive for the robbers is the same in the movie, too.
And the delivery guy was actually in on it IRL, at least at first. The driver in the movie is pure, random victim.

Ridiculous they made a movie of it though. Ugh, that still rubs me all the wrong ways.

While not robbed, the theater I worked at had a funny development overnight. Some people broke in and wrapped chains around the ATM, with the other end around their trucks and drove off. Of course they were caught and even then it didn't have any money in it.

Ridiculous. I do want to hear more 'heist' stories though.

Hmm probably just Video games when I worked at EBGames.

I remember one time some regular who was in his late 40's came in and wanted to buy the new bond game but he wasn't sure if he wanted ps2 or xbox. My manager had put them both down on the counter for the guy to look at. He took them both and just bolted.

It was very strange since this guy was older and like +300 lbs. My manager quickly caught up to him and he started crying and gave the games back. I don't think my manager called the cops because it was so silly and stupid.

The guy stopped coming in for a while, but then started coming in again when my manager wasn't there. He would talk to me and be like "i dont understand what your managers problem is, he is a prick" meanwhile i was like "ughhh...its because we watched you steal games. Technically your not even suppose to be in this store."

I think that was the most I've seen. Heard stories of idiots leaving the cases or back door open and things getting taken, but never on my shifts.

Almost every pizza delivery guy I know has been robbed or held at gunpoint.

Apart from the obvious joke of being underpaid, my last place of work had a spate of things going missing from people's desks and top drawers (some dudes lost some money, some dudes lost cigarettes, a whole bunch of stuff, etc.) Being a software company that just happens to make webcam software, we were able to get to the bottom of it quite quickly. Turns out it was the security guard. Who watches the watchers, eh?

Just turned 18 and started working in a local pub. It wasn't particularly nice area but not too bad either.

After about a month I was working an evening shift when five big bouncer types came in. They had a drink and then started abusing us behind the bar. Then they smashed a few glasses, walked up to the bar and tried to grab me by the neck. I stepped back and my manager asked them what they were doing. Basically they were looking to intimidate us for protection money. I was fucking shitting it.

My manager handled it really well, stayed calm and basically told them to fuck off as we already had top protection from some other nutters. They kept at it but eventually realised they weren't going to get anywhere with us, smashed a few tables and glasses, then left.

One of the bar maids had slipped into the back while this was happening and called the police who turned up just after they had left.

Was scarey but was cool to see my manager, who was a small guy, not back down and not show any intimidation.

Worked at a convenience store in school. Waiting on a couple of people. Heard someone hiss to my right. Looked and there was a guy ducked down at the end of the counter. Looked right down the barrel of a silver revolver he was pointing at me.
The people left and he said "Just put the register money in a bag and slide it toward me".
So I did. He left and I called the police. They looked at the security video. They said he's hit about 10 stores. They said he never wears a mask or anything.
I think the store lost about $90. I had just dropped some twenties in the safe before he came in.
I worked another 3 months before a better job came along.

Back in my university days I worked at a petrol station in a fairly rough neighbourhood.

I got robbed at knifepoint twice, which was fine. The third time though I was drenched in petrol and threatened with a flaming cigarette lighter, which was not cool. The funny thing is, all they wanted was cigarettes.

There were numerous fights and incidents on the forecourt while I was working there. Notably a 14 year old kid had his throat cut in the empty property adjacent to the place while I was there, and a woman stumbled in after having been raped by several of her husbands friends.

Ahhh, the good old days.

Not really the same thing, but a guy I know (friend of a friend) supposedly stole over $20,000 from Walmart over the period he worked there. At one point, he literally walked out of there with a TV.

He was eventually arrested, and while I don't condone what he did I'm amazed, even impressed, that he was able to get away with it for so long.

I didn't get robbed, but the place I worked at did.

I was working at ToysRUs I the videogame dept, RZone, before they went to the glass cases for their games. One day this big dude walked in so I asked if he needed any help and he said no, so I went back to cleaning. As soon as I had a customer to ring up, he walked up to the Dreamcasts, grabbed four of them and made for the door. I did the only thing I could do, and asked him to stop. Of course he didn't, and one of the guys working the back took off after him (he was 50~). Well the guy got away with four Dreamcasts. Nothing I could really do except laugh.

We did catch somebody onetime. This lady would always come in with her daughter and this big diaper bag. She would go to the game section and stick 10~ games in the diaper bag when people weren't looking. At this one the games all had security boxes on them. Our manager caught on and stopped her at the door and asked for her to wait while he checked her receipt to make sure everything got rang up correctly. A couple minutes later the cops showed up and checked her bag. She had the diaper bag lined with tin foil and that kept the alarms from sounding when she went through the checkpoints. She took at least a hundred games before she got caught.

Funny that this thread pops up the day something happened to me, lol.

Today (technically yesterday at this point, but whatever) at work (I also work in Toys "R" Us's Rzone like noquarter above me was), I was robbed by gun threat. I was helping a guy who wanted two tablets (a Samsung Galaxy 2 and a Kindle Fire) and an iPod Touch. He did seem kinda suspicious to me, and I was ready to call up a manager when he was ready to pay just in case he tried to fraud me or something, but I wasn't expecting him to threaten me with a gun, which was what happened shortly after I started to ring him up. He reached over for the bag, told me he had a gun and for me to give it to him and turn around, then ran out the door with it. He never did show me the gun, so I kinda doubt that he even had one, but still, in situations like that you don't ask questions.

I've had stuff stolen from me before and many fraud attempts, but never a threat like this. It really shook me up. But at least I'm okay. And they got the serial numbers for the devices he took, so if he tries to sell them they'll be able to track him down.

Nothing extreme. Just some snatch and grabs. One was some eastern european fellow who was drunk out of his mind and tried to take a fist full of cash from the floor managers tip jar. We dragged him out of there kicking and screaming and threw him into the alleyway. And at a restaurant job we would have homeless people wander in and try to steal the tip jar all the time. Usually after they snuck into the bathroom to do meth or smoke crack.

At the risk of offending pretty much every pizza delivery guy / delivery guy period, stories like that are pretty much why i'll never become a pizza delivery guy... or if I do become one, i'm sure as hell not working at night. I mean god damn, I was legitimately annoyed reading this (because, there was someone I knew who was in your exact situation except he died) Thank god you were quick enough to make it out of there alive, I would have frozen up and possibly have been killed.

Share your experiences - I used to work in a rough neighborhood but I'm a really intimidating guy at 6'7" - and as soon as I left working there, the place got hit by masked gunmen and robbed. Has anything like that happened to you? Share your story!

You keep thinking you're Batista... ;P

I'm surprised too - Wal-Mart usually spares no expense for that sort of thing.

Nope not yet but I'm waiting on it. I work at 2 pretty nice hotels.

I wonder how you rob a hotel (effectively)

there's a quack "nutritionist" in my dad's office complex. I usually steal her supplies of coconut water and probiotics, so far I have stolen about $60 worth of supplies (because she conned my dad out of $500)

Sorry for your loss.

Like I said earlier in the thread I was lucky. I trusted my gut. From my first look at grimy dude I knew he wouldn't have the heart or balls to shoot me point blank in the head. I too thought the gun was empty.

I was 20 when that happened. If it were 33 year old me I probably would have ended up giving grimy dude my car also.

I worked at a pharmacy in my later High School years (17 yo) working the cash registers, and these two guys come in and just start looking over the counter (where all the meds are kept) and as I'm ringing up some old lady, one of the dudes just walks on by me, behind the counter, and as I start saying "Can't come back here, uuuh.." he's grabbed two bottles of liquid codeine and bolted.

My manager was kind of pissed I didn't make a bigger fuss about it or tried to stop him, but it happened pretty quick. And what do you expect from a 17 year old kid making minimum wage at an after school job?

The bottles cost us $2 a piece. That's $4 of product that was stolen. It goes for 10x that on the streets, so I hear.

Nobody that age should be expected to fight for their job, especially considering it's not supposed to be their career.

Had a used PS2 snatched out of my hands when I worked at Gamestop. I almost jumped over the counter to give chase, but I held back (loss prevention gon' hold me back!). Funny thing is, he fell down on the way out, so I probably could've caught him, haha.

I was also robbed at "gunpoint" at Gamestop as well. He did the whole "keep hands in his pocket so it kinda sorta looks like a gun" thing while telling me to give him the money in the register. In retrospect, part of me feels he never actually had a gun. At the time, I wasn't exactly going to get into a discussion with him about it though.

I bought Queen's 'A Day at the Races' when it was remastered back in the 90s during my lunch break, showed it to a bunch of people in the office, then left my desk to take a piss and some fucker stole it.

Just a few weeks ago someone from my work stole my watch from me. I wasn't wearing the watch but kept it in my bag standing in the office (I work in a restaurant).

It was a really nice SEIKO watch (round €400). :((

Don't know if it's another waiter who did it, or a chef, or a dishwasher. Shit is driving my crazy...

My wife has been robbed twice at gun point. Once like 8 years ago when we were in high school, and once like 4 years ago in college.

In high school she was sitting at the front desk at this shop my mom owned. Guy came in, asked for money, she thought it was a joke (lol), guy sees me and family near back of store, runs away. So i guess this is technically an attempted robbery.

Second time was a typical bank robbery i guess. She did as trained.. They caught the guy within hours.

How is pizza delivery not credit/debit only.
I realize the pizza only costs a $2 to make and delivery guys are disposable, but wtf man.

Hell the places in my area have paypal now.
