Ever had a parcel stolen off your front/back porch?

I'd be sending a complaint if someone left a package sitting at my door.

Royal Mail has a cheapo service where signature is not required.

On the other hand, some assholes will ring the doorbell then immediately leave a "SORRY NO ANSWER LOL" card, sprinting back to their car.
It can be infuriating.

Actually had a case where a limited 3DS had to be refunded (could not longer reattempt delivery) because the delivery guy kept pulling this shit three times consecutively.

I ordered a Fitbit Charge 2 that mysteriously didn't get delivered, even though it was reported as being delivered online. I'm pretty sure it never made it to my mailbox though, and I think the USPS carrier took it, but I can't be 100% certain. I do know that the window between the mail carrier putting mail in by box and the time I walked out there was exceedingly small, maybe 10-15 minutes.

Some of it is based on the delivery guy getting pressured by the delivery company, either by layoffs, extended routes, or a busy season. They don't get off until the finish their route, so if they have a ton of extra stuff, that 20-30 seconds waiting by each door adds up a lot. I have had times where UPS doesn't deliver to my house until 9pm. It sure is frustrating when they leave that note though.

I still don't get how this is a thing in America. Why do they just leave a package outside? Over here they need to hand it over to you, or deliver it to your neighbor.

I could understand it for very rural areas maybe. But otherwise, seems like a stupid idea.

As someone who sends packages, consumer product deliveries, people in the US hate this because most deliveries at home happen while they're at work and it takes time to re-arrange the delivery for another day. Then when people's packages get stolen they ask "why didn't you send it signature required?" and well its because when we do our complaints explode

They still don't leave it on your door step, you still get a sorry you're not in card and it gets redelivered the next day or failing that taken to your sorting office.
I've had Amazon parcels left by my front door, sometimes hidden, sometimes not. UK here.

I get my shit stolen all the time.

I live in an apartment and these delivery people think that's a greenlight to leave my stuff in the lobby near the resident mailboxes. Anyone can just wander through the lobby and cuff it, and they have. On top of that, building management has installed secured doors at every entrance into the apartment, and I've seen boxes left outside.

Neighbor of mine had her departed mother's dress sent to her from Africa, and when it got stolen by some animal in the building she taped notes all over the lobby walls practically begging for the thief to return it. I was mad for her.

Now I have my stuff delivered to me at work, even items I know I can't carry home on my own.

That one pisses me off so much. Can't be bothered to do their job probably because they showed up late to work and still want to get off on time.

Just once and I'm 99% sure I know who did it.

In the 90 seconds it took me to get to the lobby after UPS rang my apartment the package was gone. I found the box with my address on the label in the dumpster about 30 minutes later. Inside of it was some kitchen trash, like an egg carton and a few other items including a bunch of orientation materials you might get the first week of college as well some medical focused information. It seems unlikely someone would take that stuff down to the dumpster without a bag so it was likely carried in the box. I also knew the woman who just moved down the hall from me had come there for nursing school because the mail carrier accidentally put something address to her from the school in my mailbox, so I had a good idea who the trash belonged to.

Her boyfriend also happened to be a complete piece of shit for a number of reasons other than package stealing that I won't get it into except one. The night after cops were called due to a series of screams from the alley behind the building, and a large hole appeared at the bottom of the lobby wall where it looked like someone kicked it with a heavy boot (it was winter), I saw the guy's name in the local police blotter. He was arrested for domestic assault. Unfortunately he reappeared a few weeks later because apparently she let him come back. I moved shortly after.

Make a (non-lethal) explosive bait box with poop in it!

Swiper's stop fucking swiping.

That seems like a great way to get yourself in trouble instead.

After my issue other people in the building started having packages disappear too. I never heard of a problem before that couple moved in though. I thought about leaving a dummy package with some blacklight reactive powder or ink or something that would hopefully show up on their doorknob to prove it was them, but I never did.

Didn't want to make a new thread so using this one. This just happened to me. Ordered a paper shredder and it was delivered to the wrong address on Monday. Called Amazon and they confirmed it was delivered to the wrong address in my apartment complex. They told me either logistics would pick it up, I could get it myself, or they'd send out a replacement Wednesday. I didn't want to be accused of being a thief so I figured Amazon would pick it up.

Fast forward to today and neighbors haven't returned the package nor did I receive word from Amazon. So called again and I'm getting a replacement hopefully sent to the right address tomorrow.

My neighbor had a big Amazon package outside their door on the ground level for about a week, which is crazy since we always have sketchy people wandering through the parking lot.

Had somebody rummage through a couple of boxes a while back, but they didn't take anything.

I have a house now, but it still has a community mailbox with parcel lockers, so hopefully that will still work for most of the packages. UPS can't use it, but they actually deliver late in the day here, so I'm home by the time they drop them off, no time for anyone to steal anything (I'm quick to answer the door when I'm expecting a package).

Thankfully no. The last few places I've lived (including current) are communities with an office that's open every day except Sunday until 5 - 6 PM. UPS and Fed Ex drop off the packages there. After USPS just dropped a package off in front of my door in the rain, if I see something is being shipped by them I just cancel the order.

Twice..cellphones from Amazon. They changed courier and had me sign for it, plus gave me a gift card..

Basically, yeah..

In my first year of running an online business, I always shipped as cheaply as possible [with tracking].

Unfortunately the cheapest option possible [with tracking] still doesn't offer signature upon delivery.

In that first year I "lost" two packages, obviously had to reimburse the clients [and they were $800.00 USD leather jackets], and it sucked. balls. [big sweaty unshaven for a year kinda balls]

Ever since I ONLY ship signature required upon delivery.

Magically, I've never lost a parcel since.

I haven't had this happen yet but we have a problem with a really bad fed ex driver in our condo complex. He's delivered 4 packages for other units to my place since the holidays. All of them different units too with the most recent being yesterday. I've had two packages brought to me from different units he delivered to wrong. I'm getting real tired doing his job for him.

At my old apartment, they were supposed to deliver packages to the office, but they never did.

I've had some packages never arrive, but Amazon always stepped up and fixed it.

I did have one package, a belt from slidebelts that the Post Office said they delivered to my box, but I never got it.

My new apartment has all the doors to the buildings locked and packages get delivered to the main office. I vastly prefer this as they just give me a call and I come pick it up.

Yeah, I pretty much call Amazon any time I notice the delivery is from USPS or their internal delivery service..fuck that headache..

Not yet, my neighborhood is mostly crime free but I know this happens everywhere and its only a matter of time. My wife wants to get a ring.com doorbell and some outside cameras.
