Oh man, I grew up on DC Talk, Audio Adrenaline, P.O.D, Project 86, Five Iron Frenzy, Super Tones, MXPX, Stryper, Tourniquet, Skillet, RED, Flyleaf and tons of other bands. It influenced a lot of the music I create.

If you like bands like P.O.D. and DC Talk and Skillet, etc, you should check out my band Scarlet Letter Society. We do alternative christian rock and hip hop with a splash of caribbean.

Funnily enough, as a Christian myself, I don't listen to Christian music nearly as much as I listen to "regular" music. But when I do, it's usually Skillet or TobyMac, and even then it's usually a select few songs of theirs that I really like. I hope to eventually dig deeper into their discography one day though.

That's a popular theory that is based on the passage from the Bible that says you can't buy or sell things without having the Mark of the Beast.

First the Mark of the Beast was connected to barcodes when people found some ways to count 666 from something in the barcode standard or something like that. When the thought of putting microchips on people became popular the earlier "barcodes are marks of the beast" belief was moved into microchips. And when the thought of the microchips under the skin being used for money transfers became closer to reality people begun to believe the theory more and more.

It makes sense just enough to get people's imagination run. I personally find it very interesting as at least on a surface level it's a plausible theory and it makes cool sci-fi stories possible :) Having a future where microchips under our skin allows us to buy and sell stuff especially if the microchips are going to be put on arm or forehead is such a big coincidence with certain Bible passages that no wonder people are fascinated about it. :D

I've read about the theory before, and even though it's fun it's still all sorts of crazy :p And it's so weird to see the guy who's helped write songs like 'Animal', 'Dirty Balls' and 'Rebel in the F.D.G' go on about religious crackpot theories. Even Dave Mustaine hasn't reached that level of crazy :p

Chance the rappers new mixtape was pretty soulful, not sure if i would consider it christian rap though.
Their really isnt enough good christain rap artists.

Mewithoutyou is one of my favorite bands!

Oh yeah, forgot they count for this thread. They're great.

Speaking of Christian-ish bands... Mute Math.

This is the best debut rock album of all time.
Fuck Funeral.

Their live show is fantastic too.

Carmen is hilarious

Project 86's "Truthless Heroes" album was a masterpiece

Jumping in the house of God was great

Inhale/Exhale was great thrash music

Beloved was some of the greatest melodic hardcore ever

The Chariot to this day always put on the best live show in the 15 times I saw them only rivaled by Kanye

BTW: No one forget DC talk and their song "colored people"... I wonder which one of them came up with that concept, I bet it wasnt the black guy lol

Not sure what you're implying here. Colored People is a song about racial harmony. It's true that one of the white members of the group (Toby McKeehan) co-wrote the song with one of their guitarists (who is also white), but Michael Tait could have just easily wrote it.

I was joking, its still a very ill-conceived premise for a song

Apparently Icon for Hire is a christian based band. Would never have guessed, but I do like their music.

Christian members, yes, but I think they broke from the Chrsitian record label to do more raw type lyrics. Kind of reminds me of Paramore in that sense.

I like them, some of their music can be just north of a little corny, but they've got a great sound overall and some interesting lyric content.

On that note, Flyleaf was pretty awesome.

This, is an interesting point. The song is really genuine and has a fantastic message, but the title and chorus...I don't think they meant it like it sounds, but it still sounds off regardless. They refer to a spectrum and a kaleidoscope of colors in the lyric imagery, so they use it in the literal sense, but the title doesn't exactly communicate that.

Except it's not. The whole point of the song's title is, like the title track of the album. to take a pejorative and use it for good.

Pardon me, your epidermis is showing, sir
I couldn't help but note your shade of melanin
I tip my hat to the colorful arrangement
Cause I see the beauty in the tones of our skin

We're colored people, and we live in a tainted place
We're colored people, and they call us the human race
We've got a history so full of mistakes
And we are colored people who depend on a Holy Grace

Well, just a day in the shoes of a color blind man
Should make it easy for you to see
That these diverse tones do more than cover our bones
As a part of our anatomy

How is that rap artists can use the n-word in songs about racial equality but when a Christian songwriter repurposes a mild pejorative in a song it's somehow ill-conceived? The song is so obviously saying that everyone on the planet is a colored person that I don't know how anyone could listen to it and get the wrong idea--especially since it's a multiracial group singing it.
