Every major gaming franchise should have a DS version

I recently found Civilization DS for 13€ and I must say I enjoyed it more then I did Civ4, so I guess we should also include every mayor PC gaming franchise.

I would like to see Heroes of Might and Magic 3 DS. I thing turn based games work really well on a handheld.

The DS is the best system available right now. I don't see a version of Assassin's Creed or Bioshock shifting its value one damn bit, personally, but maybe it would for you.

This strikes me as a pretty bad idea. Plenty of today's biggest games could not really be ported while staying true to their original vision.....Mirror's Edge, Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Dead Space....stuff like that just isn't going to translate in any proper way. You could turn it into a sidescroller or something like that, but then it really just becomes a generic licensed sidescroller, doesn't it? Nobody really plays those games for the story/IP, so it's not like you'd get much satisfaction in seeing the universe expanded in a DS sidestory.

Even competent down-ports like Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword just tend to make me wish I was playing the proper console version.

Somehow this reminds me of the "Wouldn't xxxxxx franchise be much cooler if it was on the Wii?" threads that incessantly plagued the forum 12-18 months ago.

I agree. Let's start with this game.

The DSi got a nice spec upgrade. Doubt you'll be seeing any games that use it, though.

At some point DSi only cartridges will hit and those games will use it. There's also DSiware.

The DS is powerful enough to give us faithful iteration of current gaming franchises.

I guess it depends on what your definition of "faithful" is. For example, whatever you are thinking in your head: the answer is no, it is not faithful.

No, not that one either. Not faithful.
