Evilore on Giant Bomb After Party

So 20 minute conversation about Divekick, then.

Game sounds like a lot of fun, would love to try it myself. Breaking down a fighting game to its bare essentials of space and timing is a noble goal, not to they mention they have a crazy wrapper around that design.

I think Ryan is a pretty good host actually. The problem is that he is also a guest at the same time. And guest Ryan is terrible.

I've never found Ryan to be a good host. He's got the voice for it, but he's always taking things off topic, killing interesting conversations prematurely, and just being a ball sucker to every guest that comes on, asking questions that are soft and meaningless.

Even on the podcasts, the best ones tend to be when Jeff is the host. He actually lets interesting conversations happen and has interesting things to say. Ryan only excels as a sidekick to Jeff when they are telling wacky stories.

Jeff really is insanely quick-witted.

And it's why he should be the host (although I'm sure he doesn't want to be). He's always got a great response in store and knows how to get an interesting conversation going.

Evilore, you did fine. I wish they let you get into the nitty gritty details of Witcher 3 but I get the impression that the game isn't in their wheel house anyways (seems like Vinnie is the only one that has devoted a significant chunk of time to it).

I have got to say that I really wish I knew someone with an Oculus Rift dev kit. Hearing the impressions and seeing the reaction vids really makes me think that it's a piece of technology that truly represents next generation gaming.

Not your fault.

The host wasn't engaging. Simple questions like "How has your trip been?" or "What were your E3 highlights?" would have been enough to get things going.

Yup, and the guy next to him in the red (I don't know all the GB guys' names) didn't really seem to pay attention, quite rude, maybe that was just me...

But yeah, dat Witcher 3 goodness.

lHow DD did it?

In game you got two items. One you could set down anywhere in the world and that would act as a fast travel point. Another was a stone you would need to use to fast travel. End game you could more or less get as many as you want in the new DD:DA

Neither guy is a good host, frankly.

Good show hosts are guys like Garnett Lee and Doritos Pope. The GB guys don't come close to that level. They are there primarily to hear their own heads rattle and to occasionally kiss up to execs.

If only I could be as poignant as the professional enthusiasts. Some day, maybe. Some day!

Some day maybe I can be the guy to go up to the Witcher 3 staff for a major publication and ask, "So, this game is about Geralt, and he's this monster hunter guy, right," after a 60 minute long presentation about the game, while I'm across the room asking the director about technical details of the combat mechanics, what they've done to address the perils of detective mode overuse for Geralt's enhanced senses mode toggle, their reaction to the Xbox One DRM not even allowing for people to play the console in Poland at launch and The Witcher 3 coming to the platform despite CDP's extreme anti-DRM position, the details of the fast travel system and how they're avoiding the associated pitfalls of games like Skyrim, etc. etc. etc.

"So, when's the game coming out?" Only professional video game journalists can play balls that hard.

What a cynical thing to say. I think they can do a fine job as hosts (Ryan included), and I can imagine the Day Three's awkwardness at times simply being down to a culmination of being extremely tired after several days of continuous work, which itself was pretty much kicked off by demoralizing theft. If I have any fair criticism, it'd be that they could use their own version of Andrew Pfister to help smooth things along behind the scenes, particularly when things like the E & Stepto or Leigh Alexander stuff happens.

So much e3 Podcast content to bust through I haven't even been able to load up day 2, much less 3, yet. I can't wait to hear from Evil though.

Seems like I've been hearing about Dive Kick everywhere but I'd never seen it. Seems like it has cool generic '90s style to it. I really like what I'm seeing.

Yet they spent 20 minutes talking about divekick and dying light :

Both of which were also shown in E3, so...

Relevance doesn't = your interest, it's = theirs.

Also I relistened recently. It's not like they swept witcher 3 under the rug.

Evilore

What are your thoughts about the X1?

Edit. I ask because we know what the mods think, but I don't recall you stating your opinion on the matter.

Man, that was pretty terrible. Are they just bad at these big group videos and there's something I'm missing about why people like them?

Why bump this thread? We were all traumatised by the horribly unprofessional attitude shown towards Evilore (and thus, by proxy, the whole of GAF). But we've moved on. We're getting over it (slowly). Let this thread die, please.

Could someone please gif the pat at about 2:47:00 where Evillore laughs at a joke then clearly feels bad about himself for giving in to them and look uncomfortable.

FUCKING RYAN DAVIS, YOU GUYS
