All the main big sponsored players for Melee aren't interested in Smash 4. It draws a completely unique crowd of players and it has more entrants than Smash 4 at Apex 2015 -- if there hadn't been a 1024 cap it would have gotten close to 1,200 entrants easily.

Melee & Smash 4 different enough to warrant both on the main stage (more so since Smash 4 is likely getting backed by Nintendo's big bucks). Plus we've had the SF4 games & SF2 together in the past.
Alternate costumes should be banned in SF Tournaments.

False. Hungrybox, M2K and Armada (three of the top 5 Melee players) play Smash 4. And if Melee isn't at Evo this year, PP, Mango and anyone else who didn't like it would likely start playing Smash 4 as they would want to compete in something.
Eh, I doubt that honestly. If Mango and PP aren't playing it now they probably won't play it ever, and just focus on Melee tournaments instead, I mean there's no shortage of them right now.

I don't know how Hbox feels about the game now after Paragon and his experience with Diddy -- made him really frustrated (don't even know if he actively practices it in his own home or just plays it at Smashfests). Armada only plays Smash 4 like a pot monster, I'm positive if Genesis 3 happened in the same month as EVO and EVO didn't have both games he'd choose to go to Genesis 3 over EVO just because Melee is there.
PP and Mang0 don't compete for the money, they love Melee and don't have any passion for Smash 4 -- EVO having just Smash 4 would not push them or motivate them to play it more. Mang0 tried the game, didn't like it, and went back to Melee. PPMD hasn't shown any interest in it at all.
And M2K is M2K, he's an outlier of the 5. He's the only top player that has any serious interest in being the best Smasher in every game.
Anyway, my point was that there really isn't any overlap and it's very true among the top players as well. You'd only get the Smash 4 exclusive players + M2K, which is seemingly showing to be less than Melee based off of APEX 2015's numbers (and even if the gap is relatively "small" it's still there and can't be ignored). I'm sure Smash 4 would still get 1k players at EVO but ignoring Melee, which is potentially another 1k, would seem odd to me other than just because Mr. Wizard cannot grasp why Melee is still played in 2015.

We are probably gonna see the announcement of EVO as a 4 day event.
Sure a handful of players compete at both, but that doesn't change the fact that there is very little overlap between the two communities.
And honestly, a lot of those great players are playing Smash 4 right now because its easy money from locals and regional.
