EX Fighting Layer: 2018 Release. Skullomania & Darun announced

Cracker Jack or GTFO.

Also since this is called Fighting Layer I'd like to see George, Jigjid, and Vold. Heck throw in Hong and Clemens too.
And of course fighting a shark. The shark has to be there.

That's exactly what I thought. It looked more like something for a kickstarter campaign.
 
It's baffling to me that Capcom is still not jumping on this by working together with Arika and lending them the SF cast. They'd essentially be getting a "free" new SF EX (and SF promotional platform) out of it without having to do any development.

Yeah I know it probably is not that simple but surely these two former partners could work something out that would be to their mutual benefit if they really wanted to. Regardless, I'm really happy to see Arika back on the scene and see a new 3D fighting game enter the ring that is not Tekken, Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive.

(What are the other former Capcom partners Eighting and Dimps up to nowadays by the way? Could they be working on fighting games as well?)
 
Some of these dudes looking for a SFEX are going to be sad. There's no excel system. But the gougi one looks like a great replacement

Also I don't think Capcom is involved but John d said he'd cut a good licensing deal for use of sf characters when this was announced

Some speculation that the reason the name isn't revealed is because it's actually a Street Fighter EX game, but they're saving the official announcement for... reasons. But it's hard speculation.

It's probably the best route for this game. I want them to get all the help they can receive.

Day 1 for me. Idgaf.

Skullomania is too hype and the game visually has a great art direction. It definitely needs some improvements in animations and sound, but that's about it.

I really hope this isn't the case, we've had enough Street fighter lately with both SF V and Marvel vs Capcom. Let this game stand on it's own with it's own identity without yet another game with Ryu & Co.
The game looks great though, just needs better sound effects. Hopefully it'll have some single player stuff too like at least Arcade and Survival.

because the characters were made as a part of street fighter ex, which was a game published by capcom. its sorta like diddy kong and dixie kong which are nintendo characters despite the fact that rare created them.

It's not like that at all. Arika owns their characters and have made their own fighter with them.

Well, adding new characters they can get a solid lineup.
 
SKULLOMANIA!!!!!! Better not shirk on a PC version. Funny how DBFZ and this have me way more hyped than Street Fighter has ever made me feel.
 
I hope they put some level 3 flashy supers, loved the one in the SFEX series, so so good. Some minor touches on the graphics, a lot of content, not broken mechanics and we might get a great game .

That was a complicated scenario but the long story short is that when Nintendo and Rare split, Nintendo got to keep Rare's original elements in Star Fox and Donkey Kong but lost Rare's original series.

A better comparison between the two series would be Super Mario RPG, which was developed by Square. Square own all of its original elements because of the contract they work out which is why aside from the odd Geno cameo here and there, none of them have appeared again.

Nah, let it be Fighting Layer EX and let Fighting Layer be successful worldwide finally since it didn't get its chance back in the day.
 
Hmm..it looks way better and different than I expected.

I literally expected EX, in HD...which would've been nice and a bit nostalgic. XD

Arika and Capcom are still pretty cool with each other, even if the story events of the EX series aren't canon.

Who cares, WOHOO in general. My enjoyment of Eliza in Tekken easily says I like 2D fighter Tech in my 3D-lookin' fighters, so I welcome this return even more now.

Did anyone get hands on with the Deck system they have on site at EVO? I like the concept, surely, but I want to hear some first-hand experiences.

To be honest, the only thing I've heard is that the Infinity deck was busted and people were perma-stunlocking people with infinitely canceled supers, haha.

No, this is just the kind of game we need, for alternative fighters there's no shortage of different ones available or coming up...

So you have...

SFV
Tekken
BlazeBlue
Guilty Gear
Injustice 2
Mortal Kombat XL
Skull GIrls
Dive Kick
Marvel Vs Capom Infinite
Even Smash....


So there's a lot of different fighting styles/types to choose from...So we need games to be different to attract alternative or specific audiences....This here is right up my alley, at least it will be 60fps this time unlike EX3 on PS2.
 
Is anybody else half convinced this game will be revealed to be SFEX4? I can't really think of any other reasons they'd tease the EX logo so much while also still not having a proper title.

Based on what we've seen, it almost literally is EX in HD. For better or worse, the gameplay is almost a 1:1 conversion of the originals.
 
I'll be interested to see who else will return in this game, as well as getting those juicy beta details~

I'm probably in the minority BUT i really hope this has nothing to do with Street Fighter. Instead of Ryu, Chun-Li and co. taking up spots on the roster i'd rather have Arika characters exclusively, from Fighting Layer and EX.
 
Nice! Shirase huh, thought it was Hokuto looking slightly different maybe they are related.
Character models are really nice, looks sharper even than SFV.

I don't see any Fighting Layer characters in your list.

I read somewhere that it's more likely that SNK publishes this instead of Capcom.
