Halle Berry absolutely killed it as Storm in X-Men.

Serious answer: I think Jake Gyllenhaal was really good in Prisoners. There are plenty of other actors and films, but I wanted to give a nod to a favourite of mine.

From an underrated masterpiece, casey affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

I feel like he nailed every single face, subtlety, action, etc...

I actually said, "Daniel Day-Lewis acted the shit out of this movie" out loud once the credits began to roll, that's just how shocked I was with his performance. It's is so big that I almost feel like TWBB was a stage-play that somehow accidentally ended up as a film.

He and Sam Rockwell both killed it in Jesse James (no pun intended), heck the whole cast did. The scene where they have to lie to Jesse why Charley climbed out onto the roof was nail-biting.

That movie, I felt, was overall amazingly acted.

The whole time it feels like you're watching something pretty special.

Crazy super powerful performance. Probably one of the first times i ever saw a movie (was fairly young at the time...) and though to myself "Wow he's a really fucking good actor..."

Criminally underrated.

Stanley Tucci and Saoirse Ronan in The Lovely Bones.

Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke in Before Sunset. That car scene.

Didn't he ad lib that scene too?

Yup.. something i learned YEARS after the fact that only made it even more epic.

Like i know actors go through a lot of stage presence training and improv schools and everything else but how do you off the top of your damn head come up with one of the most iconic movie lines ever said?

Fuckin crazy.

Wait, what? Your saying he ad-libbed Tanhauser Gate and all that? Bullshit.

One of the best actors today. if only he was given more movies...

He's got this really vulnerable voice. Worked nicely for robert ford

Al Pacino in godfather 2 is probably my GOAT. pretty terrifying but for the most part calm

LoL nah like the tanhouser gate and the c beams and all that stuff was in there... but the "All those memories.... lost... like tears in the rain ..... " was all Rutger.

I'm sure the "time to die." was in the script...

Not necessarily the greatest acting ever but this scene from Snowpiercer where Chris Evans
breaks down about how he had to become a cannibal to survive
surprised the hell out of me. I never thought Evans was a bad actor, but he made the scene incredibly believable despite the craziness behind the entire scenario.

Fassbinder has a legendary monologue in Steve McQueens masterpiece Hunger. It's on youtube, but I won't post it. Just download the movie and watch it.

A very special actor in Stardust! Really nice performance! I fell off my chair when I saw who it was. Had never seen that actor like that. He was hilarious!

Michael Jai White as Black Dynamite

It's a shame that the movie sequel never happened. Yeah, there's an animated series and it is funny but from what i've heard BD2 would have been like blazing saddles and ......le sigh.

Speaking of blazing saddles, gene wilder. Young Frankenstein and willy wonka and the chocolate factory are some other movies that he is in which I adore.

Leonardo Dicaprioin in Django: the speech at the dinner table - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72nK7APr6Xs

Busts his hand open, doesn't break character, adds the blood from the wound into the scene, scares the hell out of the actress involved and steals the show.

LOVE IT!!!!.

The fact that she looks horrified cause someone just smeared ACTUAL blood on her face makes that scene so much more amazing after the fact. Dude is a fuckin PRO.

Also - his african accent in blood diamonds was amazing and had me saying "bru" to my friends for months afterwards.

Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capote. He was virtually a different person; completely unrecognizable. I didn't love the movie, but his performance was sensational.

Totally forgot one and actually had me almost to tears with how good it is.

Tom Hanks is Captain Phillips - the ending scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJMDdT24_98

We all know Hanks can knock it outta the park seemingly whenever the hell he wants, but man alive is he great in this scene (as is the real navy doctor) and its such a fantastic portrayal of actual shock.

there are countless examples, there are waves of amazing actors, but for the sake of brevity let's just cite the monstrously good one-two by Tom Hardy, Bronson and Locke, easily the most impressive young talent I've seen in years

Man i love Bronson, such a weird and surreal movie even though its based on a real person.

Tom Wilkinson in Michael Clayton. I absolutely love the performance. His monologue at the beginning is fucking chilling. So good. Sydney Pollack is also great in it.
