EXIT - 1UP Review

NICE.

I just got interested in this game after reading a few previews and watching the Gamespot preview video.

After reading this thread....

+1 Exit

I think I'm going to stop at EB today and try to pre-order it - if that's still possible.

Definitely a must-buy! I've been waiting for a game like this for years. And yes, it seems perfectly suited for the PSP. Taito gets extra points for that Bubble Bobble level!

Is this *in* stores today? I have some slow EB shops in my area, so I'm guessing it's Thursday for me. Oh well, maybe I can get Chibi Robo in the meantime...

I can't wait to pick this up. The Lost Vikings is one of my favorite games of all time.

When will stores have it?

That's a pretty small sample, 3 reviews, with one being "mixed."

Give it a little while, Jr.

And Game Informer is hardly what I'd call "reliable."

I must confess, though, I'm a little leary about spending $40 on this. $30, no question. But the Mega Man PSP games have me enjoying $30 PSP software, and I don't want to spend more now.

I'd go as far to say this is one of my favorite games on the PsP. If I had to break it down into three titles it'd be like this..

Me & My Katamari
Exit
Lumines

So, the official US website is now live:

http://exitgame.us.ubi.com/

There's not much to show for it yet, just a couple of screenshots and a trailer. It should be the place where the in-game web browser points to for the downloadable content though. So if someone were to poke around a bit they might find the url for the download page.

this game looks awesome.

all you people with DS's that are hating in this thread.. i only have a DS too but i can admit that this game looks great.. if the PSP drops in price sometime and i get one then i'll be picking up good games like this instead of pretending they aren't good..

We can admit they're good after this gen is over.

*rubs hands together*
time for some puzzle platformin' action, with some stylish graphics to boot.

Bebpo, DCharlie, Jackfrost, duckroll and dark10x all saying the game is not only good, but damn near one of the best titles on the PSP >>>>>> anything any one of the handful of 'professional' (read: awful) reviewers we have here say.

Like Lost Vickings and Prince of Persia? From the quick video it looked more like Mario vs Donkey Kong. Super really sweet fun!

Add my name to that list. The game rocks.

It can't be said enough. Exit is indeed one of the BEST offerings on the PSP right now as far as concept, portability and originality are concerned. GTA:LCS is still a great example of what you CAN do on the PSP, but Exit is the best example of what you SHOULD do on the PSP.

Oh and for people complaining about the analog cursor to control the other people, yeah it does bug me sometimes, ESPECIALLY for some puzzles later on where I need to move people in a precise and timely fashion in a certain order and everything relies on how fast I can move my goddamn cursor from one person to another to give instant orders. I think the developers did that so they can limit your range of controlling the people though, if you notice the cursor will only move a certain maximum distance away from where your character is at the moment....

Oh well something they can improve for the sequel. And there WILL be one because EVERYONE ON GAF IS BUYING IT.... RIGHT?! :D

I'm definitely interested in this game, I like puzzle games and the visual style is right on the mark.

My only reservation so far is that I don't like the controls for those old, precise platformers like Prince of Persia/Flashback/Out Of This Worldetc. Please tell me this game controls at least a little better than those, and control doesn't really get in the way.

Gamespot - 8.0

Those exhausted with puzzle-genre conventions will find Exit to be a fun and inventive brainteaser with a wonderful sense of style.
The Good: Accessible, inventive puzzles; fun, original art style; difficulty ramps up nicely; downloadable levels more than doubles total content.
The Bad: AI is occasionally frustrating; grating voice clips play over and over again.

Exit is inherently a very likable game. The premise and presentation are light and fun without being cute or cloying. The puzzles will put your logic to the test, but without being condescending or overly punishing. And, the puzzles stay varied and interesting, which make them a nice reprieve from the well-worn Tetris-derived puzzle games and the infuriatingly dense item-based puzzles common in adventure games. Puzzle fans will love Exit, and with its conventional side-scrolling platformer presentation, people who don't think they like puzzle games may find themselves enjoying a puzzle game without even knowing it.

Bah, according to play the Euro release isn't until the 31st of March. I might import but then I'm not sure how that would affect getting the levels. If I have a US game in a Euro PSP it will let me download from the US site won't it?

Shit I missed this thread, EXIT looks fucking ace. Glad to know we're getting the free downloads. This is going be an awesome release.

If the downloads are anything like the Japan ones we're using, you can get them off the webpage normally and just unzip them into your PSP via USB. :D
