So I took my external hard drive to my friends house the other day to play on his Xbox, thing is we never had the chance to even play so I never connected it. The other day I try downloading the overwatch beta onto my xbox one and it says the installation was stopped, I wonder if it's because the beta isn't up yet so I don't think much of it but then I try to play halo 5 and it doesn't let me, says it's taking too long to load so I let it go and try to open gears 4 beta, same thing.

10 minutes later I realize it's all the games on my hard drive with the same issue. What do I do gaf?


I've already tried hard resetting and all that does is unrecognize the hard drive until I unplug it and plug it back in this is frustrating

Try rebooting the Xbox? Hard reboot, power cable out.

Maybe you bumped it too hard while taking it to your friend's? Or were you moving it while it was turned on? That's a no-no for external drives.

Tried that all it does is start to unrecognize the hard drive

I really don't know, but if I had an another external hard drive, I'd try moving the data for one game onto that from your old external just to see what would happen.

Any chance it's still under manufacturer's warranty? Usually they come with at least a year. Not ideal, I know, but better than nothing.

I'm going to try connecting it to my computer to see if I can format it from there maybe the overwatch beta corrupted it

Sounds like your external hard drive may be faulty. Is it under warranty? And what brand is it?

Ima try that out, my computer recognized the hard drive under device manager but idk where to go to format it

It's letting me uninstall all the games except a few
