EyePet for PlayStation Eye

US date was announced for Nov 17th. Review copies are out. I doubt it's delayed.

Do you have a link my friend? I was looking on Gamestop and it said April 6th and I was dissapointed. I would love for it to be November in the US. Plus, the $39.99 price tag is perfect for this game.

Yeah, you begin each session by putting the card on the floor (or table, I guess).

What if I don't have a floor? I mean, my sofa is about 2-3 meters from the TV and camera is on top of TV, pointing towards the sofa. I don't really want to move the camera down so that it points towards the floor, nor I want to interact with the pet with my feet (lol). Therefore I ask, if I place the card mid air can I make it so that the pet kinda floats in front of the sofa, laps level, like I have an invisible table in front of the sofa?

Where the fuck is my review code Sony! >:-(

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/08/eyepet-in-stores-on-november-17/

Just in time for the holidays, EyePet will be available in stores across North America beginning on November 17 for $39.99. For those of you who don’t have a PlayStation Eye, we will be offering a special bundle for $59.99, which will include EyePet and the PS Eye.

The Gamestop date change, and the fact Amazon is no longer listing any date, are more than a bit worrisome. I was banking on giving this to my daughter for Christmas.

It seems like insanity to miss the holiday season, but maybe they want to delay it until the wand comes out.

Booooooo, I'm very let down with Qore. In the new episode they have an EyePet video which is awesome and everything, to be sure!

However, in the preview that plays at the beginning of Qore they show Audrey Cleo laying stomach-down on a table in some office room playing with the EyePet. Hot, RIGHT?

Well, this is nowhere to be found in the actual video/article. It's her and someone from the company sitting behind a small table. Boooooooo!

Ha ha ! I noticed that too. Was wondering how many young men would be disappointed.

Well, the set up process tells you to clear a space in front of the tv and point the camera down (as much as it'll go) and that you should place the camera at knee height.

The floor is then divided into two parts. One (at the bottom of the tv, and therefore closest to the camera) for the pet to move around in and one where you're supposed to sit so that you don't confuse the poor thing. Only your hands, interaction pad or toys (you can roll a ball over the pet space and see if he chases it) should be seen in that space.

When you start the game, there's a symbol of the interaction pad on the tv where you should place the actual pad, the camera sees it and the game starts. I'm not sure if it's possible to "fool" the camera to think that your floor is magically floating in the air.

EDIT: I guess the "place the camera at knee height" gives the camera a approx. of where your floor is.

So apparently EU gets this early with the US version coming out in April 2010. WTH Sony? This would have been an awesome Christmas gift!

"The North American territory has decided to take additional time to focus on the EyePet product and can confirm it will not be available this holiday. EyePet is an innovative and exciting new IP to the PS3 platform and SCEA marketing will spend additional time to continue educating consumers and retail channels, setting the table for a successful product launch. We will provide more details on an updated launch timeframe very soon"

Anyone know where we can import it from the UK?

Here I think

Just remember there's DLC planned for it so you'll be getting some PSN cards sometime too ;-)

Edit: On schedule in Europe

Sony has told Eurogamer that no, EyePet has not been delayed, and it will be released here on 23rd October, thank you very much.

That platform holder spoke as the game was officially caged until 2010 over in North America.

The US delay sucks, but in doing so they've just added a very promising launch title for their motion controller.

Also wanted to share this link: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/puzzle/...&om_clk=newsfeatures&tag=newsfeatures;title;1

GK: I guess you have another game currently under development...

ND: (Smiling) Yes.

GK: Is it linked to EyePet or is it unrelated to this franchise?

ND: No, it's a different concept, in addition to EyePet.

GK: So will you continue to be Sony's brand ambassador for social and casual gaming?

ND: While the whole studio won't, our group will, I think. There is a lot of interest around augmented reality. It surprised me to come to the Festival du Jeu Video (a gaming show held Paris in September) and see the number of magazines that want to do an article on this subject, as I thought it was too geeky. It is now very much part of the casual gaming space.
Maybe they're alluding to their next project being another social/casual augmented reality game?

Waheey, EyePet turned up.

My EyePet's name is Max, he has a hat and a bomber jacket :) So far I've fed him, washed him, played trampoline with him and took photos of him.

suggestive posing on belly does only work for the Qore chick, sry ;)

Dare I say it? Eyepet has the best graphics ever, the environments look so real and are fully interactive :o

That's cool that he sort of seems to 'know' where you are. A bit like that bit of that eyetoy concept trailer from a while back that had that girl with the pet that was hopping around on her.

I noticed you're holding your Dual Shock with only your left hand. How do you do that without passing out from exhaustion or all the pain you're in from holding a controller designed for two hands in just one hand?

No direct upload to YouTube is a little strange. I guess they're sick of people flooding the internet with Noby Noby Boy videos :P

I love the concept but I don't like the little guy's face. I wonder if they could release different creatures as DLC.
Yeah, give me a pet daxter or a pet clank and I'll bit.

Great pictures!

Haha

And :o at the EG review. They had some valid complaints tho.

I think that review is fair and I expected those criticisms. I took it for granted this was the way the game would be e.g. little/no scope for doing 'bad', no complex path of evolution etc.

I agree. With regards to other pets visiting and stuff like maybe getting an upset tummy (aww bless) and other minor ailments... hopefully some of these features may come in the future via updates. I know my daughter loves to play nurse to her vitrual pets and would love it even more if hers could visit a friends to interact. Being able to tech them tricks via voice would be a great addition too a-la Nintendogs...

Will still get it next week.

At least you have the camera excuse, since I already have a PSeye, I guess I'll just make up some other excuse. :lol :lol

Man you guys don't have balls.

Go into the store and yell "ONE COPY OF EYEPET PLEASE!" Then beam a huge smile as people look at you oddly and hide their children. :lol

also got the review code today and played around a little. it definitely is fun but I guess that after 4 to 5 hours it's going to get a little bit boring.

So why was this delayed again in NA if it is releasing in Europe next month still?

Anyhow I have never imported a game from overseas before, I assume this will work just fine with my Canadian PS3 right? I already have a PSeye too, it will work fine with that? Will the trophies be listed seperately?

SCEA wants more stuff for Wand Spring launch 2010.

Yes it will work fine with your Canadian PS3, your PSeye and trophies are global (except for apparently Sonic's Genesis Collection and Sonic's Mega Drive Collection because of lols Backbone).

Got my copy today. Just gave the little bugger a shower and wash down, what a surreal/weird experience. I've named the little guy 'Doo Doo'. You can set up 4 different pets though if you want.

Setting the damn thing up is a pain in the ass though. I have a 40'' bravia which is sat on the fire place just off the floor in the living room and putting the PS Eye on top of it is too high, it has to be between 30-60cm off the ground. I had to put it on the top of the PS3 to the side of the TV which makes it difficult to control.

Bernard is being a bugger today. Anyone had any luck with the Friendly face challenge i cant seem to get it to work. I press 'start' to close, then select to bring up cam, get my lovely face in the viewfinder, snap a photo but it never says challenge complete :(
