Thick Thighs Save Lives
NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
Fable, the upcoming open-world RPG from Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games, has been rated by content boards in South Korea and Australia. Fable has yet to receive an ESRB rating, but given that these two boards handed down similar classifications—both effectively equivalent to a Mature rating—fans should probably expect the ESRB to land in the same ballpark when the time comes.
The South Korean Ratings Board classified Fable as an 18+ title, which closely lines up with the ESRB's M for Mature 17+ category. The distinction there is almost certainly not enough to warrant the ESRB's rare AO (Adults Only Rating). The board specifically cited several reasons for the rating:
- Use of language that directly expresses sexual acts
- Frequent killing, bloodshed, and bodily mutilation using weapons determination
- Direct criminal acts based on user choices
- Excessive use of vulgar language and profanity
