I think one of the starkest contrasts between the anti-Bush and anti-Obama sentiment is that it seems to be far more personal with the latter: Fox News viewers genuinely believe President Obama to hate the US and its values, this is why the idea that he is a foreigner resonates so much. It's not just that they think his policies are harmful, they believe he is doing it intentionally to subvert the country. He isn't interested in money, or special interests, or imperialism, but only to destroy the US.

Yeah, that is a really strange thread to all of this. A lot of people have a very "good vs. evil" attitude toward Obama and Democrats, which probably is tied to the role religion is playing in all this.
That's another thing that surprised me: the way Christianity, capitalism, patriotism, and libertarianism are all so casually intertwined in a lot of these comments. I guess I knew there would be some degree of that, but there's a lot more overlap in those groups than I expected.

To be fair, it was a little personal with Bush as well; Basically everyone said is that he's just too dumb to lead a country.

To be fair, if Obama were reelected now I would worry. Having a third term is against the law, you know.
Again, this is why it was so cool of my professor, the day after the election, to say, "I don't know if you guys knew or not, but Jimmy Carter was the Anti-Christ."
