You kind of feel bad for Kubo's ending. Like those guys on the oscar stage who are getting drowned out by the band louder and louder. We're probably lucky we got the ending we did before Jump just sent out the shepherd's crook to yank him offstage.

i get the feeling they told him to start wrapping it up and instead he started making the final boss even more broken and having long fights with characters that didn't matter. at that point they probably told him the manga was ending on this date and that was final.

The series gets a bad rap, but I've read far worse lol. The ending we mediocre and not really a satisfying one, though at least it wasn't insulting.

Nah, Bleach's ending is the worst.
It doesn't matter tho

Now which is worse overall, hmm, I dunno.

Bleach had potential, but turned into crap. But at least it had cool shit like Aizen.

Fairy Tail on the other hand, my memory is lacking, but it always felt rather average, even before it became abundantly clear that the whole friendship shtick would never go away.

Probably FT in the end I guess.

Fairy Tail in a way benefits from an overall lower expectation. When it gets fun it's pleasantly surprising, when it's bad it mostly elicits a groan before you move on. Fairy Tail's ending merits an 'eh', vs Bleach's that just outright begs 'Wtf?', particularly after the series had started so strong and the action shifted to Soul Society. Fairy Tail does not feel like it actively squandered its potential and goodwill in the same way.

And honestly? I'll probably feel more fondly looking back at FT in future even if it's harder to remember what precisely happened in it, if that makes any sense.

How is anything worse than Bleach's unceremonious, botched, rushed ending?
The author literally discard all plot points and kill anyone that needs to die for no reasons after dragging his feet for more than a year on pointless BS no one (let alone the author) gave a shit about!

Not sure which series you're talking about here lol

I gave Bleach the edge because Fairy Tail's last arc had pretty much all the same pitfalls Bleach's did but at least the first couple chapters of the Quincy arc were interesting. There was never a moment in the Alvarez arc where I didn't think it wasn't going to be the same ol' BS.

I won't look back on FT fondly, but I guess Bleach's atrocious ending will always stick in my mind, so I see what you mean.

OMG the fuck?! It just ended?! Did Natsu and Lucy get married at the least? I don't normally ship characters, but a mess if they didn't.

Shame how this series turned out overall. The cut and paste formula is a shame because the series had a great start and had a lot of great aspects. Very rare to see a character like Erza in a long running series like this with a male lead for example.

The final chapter only jumps ahead a year, so no babies.
Though Levy is pregnant with Gajeel's child. We got some other teases, but that's the most substantial one. At the end of the chapter, it looks like Lucy and Natsu are about to kiss, but Natsu is like, "Let's go off on our next adventure!"

Too bad Erza and virtually every other female character (Even the cat) gets undercut by all the never-ending fanservice.

Yeah, hastily putting together characters at the end that never were together, THAT'S what makes it a mess.

To be fair, everyone knows Fairy Tail is very... not good. Can't blame them for at least wanting some cute relationships out of the whole thing.

Makes me laugh every time

A heavily sexually exploited female character with next to no writing effort put behind her?

I'm talking about the ending part where Kubo just kill one of the main dude midfight "because strawberries" and the final fight is basically Deus machina resolved in the worst possible manner that doesn't even make sense in the context of Bleach.
Fairy Tail is mediocre like it always was.
By the time you reach the 1st timeskip it's clear the author is uninterested in doing anything interesting with his manga so in the end we got the ending we always were going to get.
Bleach is all hype and no payoffs.
Kubo was never interested in following through with any of the hints he gave before.
See the Ulquiorra fight? A massive setup that spawned from the beginning of the arc to basically have a random curbstomp because the author is too uninterested in delivering on the premise.
And it's even worse when you consider the pacing!
Pacing in Bleach is torture.
It's alleviated somewhat if you read in volume form but weekly chapters?
At least FT was a somewhat enjoyable read where each chapters somehow contributed to going somewhere.
Bleach's chapters were usually over before anything happened at all.

Even as whole FT would get the edge for at least being to the point over the meandering mess that is Bleach although the highs and the foreshadowing were pretty good.

But that Bleach ending?
That's the things of legends you hear about and can't believe it actually happens.
Worse blue balls than YuYu Hakusho (and we could forgive that because the manga till that point was pretty awesome), pairings revealed that is never properly set up so you're either not meant to care or if you do the author didn't care enough to not make them look random.

If you know a manga or a book with a worse ending than Bleach, let me know because I want to avoid that shit.
When you don't even give a shit about the ships and the ending still manages to disappoint is pretty wild.
That doesn't mean FT's ending was anything but meh btw.

And the fact that FT's ending is going to be animated while Bleach is left at the end of an atrocious nonsensical shitty arc tell everything we need to know about how interesting both series are relative to each other.

Eh ending was better then I thought it would be. Gajeel x Levi was nice and thats the only pairing I ever actually liked. The Juvia x Gray thing barely pans out, kinda sad honestly XD Same for all of the major couples.

Still a hundred times better then Bleach.

So it's finally over.

Not a great ending, but I wasn't expecting it to be good anyway.

So many of the series I grew up watching and reading are nearing their ends. Makes me feel old at 24. When I was younger it was like these series would never end, and yet now it's only One Piece that's left.

And HxH! Don't forget HxH!

Still though, it does feel weird that OP is essentially the last one standing.

Lol
Natsu really did just go "nah the only booty I need is ADVENTURE" like god damn lol. Lucy's probably like "what the hell you jackass everybody else is banging!"

He took the Luffy approach

Don't know what pisses me off more, anime where the protag "can't choose" between two or more chicks he actually likes or the one where he's magically oblivious to all the ones thirsting for him. This goes even more for anime that have these fucking things as the goddamn endings. Fuck you, go fuck somebody already goddamn it.

At least it makes sense for Luffy's character that he doesn't care. Everyone else though, yea, no excuse.

Fairy Tail never got an awesome arc like Soul Society Arc in Bleach, for me. Until the beginning of Tartarus arc, none of Fairy Tail arcs were awesome, instead, they were all average.

Also I don't remember Natsu and the others having to train for defeat their opponents. Ichigo and Renji had to train for get stronger and attain their bankais. And even with their bankais, they couldn't defeat Aizen and Byakuya, respectively. Heck, you could say Ichigo didn't defeat Byakuya with his powers either; Shirosaki had to weaken Byakuya when he took control of Ichigo.

That said, both Ichigo and Natsu were boring protagonists.

Natsu was a bit more likable and humorous at least, and at least had the goal of wanting to find out what happened to his dad Igneel, or wanting to become an S-rank mage at one point.

Ichigo... my god, no goals whatsoever. Couldn't tell you his interests to save my life. Just protect people, and nothing else.

Ichcigo was literally only always having to rescue people.

Rukia, Orihime, Orihime again I think and then Uryu. That's it unless I missed some uninteresting side character.

At least MY BOY CHAD had like one cool moment and then became irrelevant but that skull punch thing was pretty awesome and he was like half Mexican or something!

It still makes my blood boil remembering how Kubo forgot the main cast of Bleach in favor of the shinigami. Rukia, Chad, Inoue and Ishida; they were great characters. And even the Karakura Town crew were interesting: Urahara and Yoruichi as their mentors, Tatsuki and Karin seemed to have potential for help them in the future, Isshin and Ishida's dad being in standby for anything bad to happen when you learn both know about Hollows, Soul Society and Shinigami... But all of them were forgotten by Kubo. With the exception of Urahara perhaps.

I'll give something to Kubo thought; while he doesn't know how to develop characters, at least he makes great design for their characters... with the exceptions of the Quincies at the end. All of them were awful.

Imagine how you'll feel at 34 when One Piece ends!

I dunno if I'll be that emotional tbh. One Piece hasn't been the same for me post timeskip. Anime went to shit and the manga just doesn't capture me. Pre-skip on the other hand, I just need to think THINK of some of the moments that resonated with me and I feel it.

And HxH! Don't forget HxH!

I didn't get into HxH until the 2011 anime started airing. I do like the series quite a bit, but I came into it late so probably now.

Just chiming in to say what a trash heap of a series Fairy Tail was. So much wasted potential and the fights fucking suck because Natsu/Erza can't lose. Christ I get irritated just thinking about it. And the ending...how can it be so useless. The only meaningful pairing was Gajeel and his girl. Natsu remained as dense as ever. I can't believe I wasted 5 years with this.

Good riddance

why the hell would you care about ships in a shonen manga?
there are better types of mangas if you wanna see people getting together.than ones aimed at early teen boys

But the majority of romcoms, harem series, etc are shounen so I'm not sure what you mean.
