Fall 2010 Anime Thread: Reboots, Retreads, and Rediscovery

I've been watching Legend of the Legendary Heroes since Hulu puts it up subbed a few days after it airs. Pretty good show IMO. I could do without Milk and the little sister though

The new Bones mech show is probably the only thing I'll watch this season. I suppose I watch Iron Man too since I've been on an Iron Man kick lately, I got the 90s cartoon on DVD and the newest one too (I have a HUGE crush on new Pepper OMG)

Side note: anyone else know what other currently running shows are on Hulu like legend of the legendary heroes? (besides naruto, bleach, etc...) Also, fuck funimation for not being on the plus service

Kurau Phantom Memory

I'll go ahead and say it has the best opening episode or two from any series (feel free to disagree gaf but you'll be wrong!)

Reminds me that I need to go through it again on netflix instant streaming

derp RESPOND DAMN YOU ANIMEGAF

I'm pretty sure at this point that the one-two combo of Mushishi-Mononoke is hard to beat for introducing people to the "finer" side of modern anime. There's something for everyone there, unless they like lots of tits in their anime.

Is that what people see when I inject them with the drugs? Anyways, I'm going to watch an episode of Monster and head to bed now. Night guys.
Sleep is for the weak.

And people with 89 posts in one thread in one day, I guess,

Actually it looks like I've consumed too much soda and am unable to sleep... It's 10AM too... My sleep schedule is on a roller coaster ride lately without any morning appointments.

With I9 back, hopefully I'll be down low on the wall of shame this time around. :lol

Since HSotD ended, I was wondering how it turned out? I'm probably never going to watch it but I'm mildly curious about it.

Everything else is on penultimate episode watch. Seitokai and Mitsudomoe are still... well, fine for what they are. I think I just need to get used to the frantic pace of a 4koma show - they're almost like 90s sketch comedy shows on US television, where it's gag after gag for an 30 minutes/an hour.

Probably just going to watch the new Bones mech show. They are usually decent.

I wish Xam'd: Lost Memories would hit DVD or AT LEAST be on PSN as purchase deal (all episodes for $xx)

I'm not going to rent 26 episodes for 2 bucks each but I do want to see it

I hope the new show is as good as Eureka Seven was

X'amd Vol.1 is actually being released on BD/DVD on the 21.

I'm on the Star Driver Hype Train with the intention of riding it as it derails and crashes into messy carnage. It'll be fun as hell.

Yeah, region blocking is stupid. If only there were a way to fool sites into thinking you're from the right region.
Use a proxy or some VPN software like HotSpot Shield

I am up to about episode 25. It is all good, so far. Ayame and Suzume are cute as hell, the music (incidental and theme) is terrific, and the mixture of humour and moderately serious action is finely measured.

And Sanosuke is BADASS.
Word of advice, watch up to episode 62, then jump to Trust & Betrayal :)

Oh yeah, another entry on the "Don't Watch Y After X" list is the Kenshin TV series after the Kenshin OVA. It causes a visceral "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?" reaction.

You're not going to have that problem, though.

Hito saved me the trouble of having to watch the series by recommending the OVAs first :3

Nah, once you're able to cast aside the high expectations set by the OVA and bear through the Tokyo arc, the Kyoto arc rewards you with better-than-Naruto shounen action.

By the way, he mentioned watching to episode 62, but the series is 66 episodes long so you might as well watch to the end.

Well that's not hard too do, but I do find the fighting in Kenshin to be more exciting.

InfiniteNine said:
Well not much to do now but wait for the shows, but man Sono Hanabira's animation spoiled me. It made me believe that correctly drawn proportions where common in H anime now, but I was deceived! Will Front Innocent remain king of things not drawn terribly on the H-anime front?

Mezzo Forte > Front Innocent

Also my TV is also a Samsung.

InfiniteNine said:
I don't agree, but that probably has to do more with me not liking the artstyle too much more than anything.

Mezzo Forte really has the most well animated H-scenes, I forget the dude responsible (as I'm fairly certain he's done more) but yeah.

It's been a while since I was 13 and wondered why people where suddenly having sex in the anime I rented. I might have to give it another look.

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (Gainax) (Certified 7Th's choice!)

Gainax new "serious" project, directed by our bro Hiroyuki Imaishi. Crazy "angels" Panty and Stocking fight hellish creatures while fucking men and eating pastry. "Dead Leaves gone cute and catchy." Yoh Yoshinari animation everywhere. Show of the year right here, yo. Trailer.

Only thing worth watching this season.

Which doesn't mean I'm not gonna check Best Wishes!. I'm a whore like that.

Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! (OL&M)

New Pokemon series based on the new Black & White games. Ash will never be a Pokémon master, deal with it.

He already won the Orange League, won the Battle Frontier, and would have won the Sinnoh League had the writers not put a trainer with a fucking Darkrai and a Latios in his path.

Fucking hax I mean what the fuck.

EDIT: Pikachu beating Latios was uber cool. Of course it's already getting retarded -he's apparently gonna lose all his electric powers in the first episode. LAME.

Well it doesn't look like I'll be able to go to the Red Line screening on Sunday. Apparently my check is being sent next Friday due to a delay and that obviously wont make it in time. I can choose to not eat for the rest of the week too and still go, but that is probably not a good idea.

Ash is like 10 years too old to be doing this stuff, he should seek early retirement.

I'd give up eating for a week to watching Red Line.

I don't know, starving builds moral fiber.

Totally.
Even then, better watch the OVA after the anime :P

I thought the Kyoto arc ended there? Granted, it's been a few years since I last watched it...
Also, the complete series is like 95 episodes long
lololol Christian samurais and magic feng shui lololol

No it isn't. That's a mistake that has been propagated on the internet since the 90s. There are no episodes after 66. It even has the fancy ending credits to signify the conclusion of the series.

New stuff I'll check out:

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (Gainax) -> Looks like the good kind of weird

Star Driver (Bones) -> Bones! Mecha!

Bakuman (JC Staff) -> What I saw of the Manga was alright

Super Robot Taisen OG The Inspector (Asahi Production) -> More Mecha!

Togainu no Chi (A1 Pictures) -> OP doesn't tell me anything, the trailer looked kinda cool

Shinryaku! Ika Musume (Diomeda)

Comedy manga adaptation by Hare+Guu's director; follows the story of a moe squid-girl trying to get back at humans for polluting the seas.
Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold Sold

Also Pantsu and Stocking :D, will try star drive but i don't think i will like it. Also Arakawa.

I would watch Bakuman Anime except that the manga is recently locelaised so I'll just buy the manga.

Fair enough, to me it ended with the Kyoto arc :)

Similarly, for me Naruto ended when Tsunade becomes Hokage and not Naruto, but the existence of followup episodes is undeniable.

Is Xamd any good? i just saw it getting a DVD release, I like BONE for its animation (aprt from Darker than Black as I like it in every regard) but Xamd looks that it will have too convuloted stry which becomes a mess...

All you've done is remind me that those episodes exist and that I never watched them while watching Kenshin on toonami back in high school

To Netflix!

Was DVD does the non-manga stuff start on?

You're crazy, sir. Not only are you delusional you're also self-destructive.

Well Xam'd definitely has better animation than DtB.

::Looks at OP for upcoming shows::

I assure you that I could be much much more self destructive if I wanted!
In fact I didn't post once in the Summer anime thread but I've posted 5 time in this thread... my self destruction has already begun :(

I'm still waiting on Kenshin season 3.

Just like Dino Crisis 3, still waiting. I think I mentioned it on gaming side already. Reality is what ever I choose to accept and ignore. ^_^

I liked the Christian arc in Kenshin. Probably my favorite Samurai anime. Did Toonami ever finish the series? I remember watching Yu Yu, Kenshin, FLCL, Big O, Bepop, and Trigun every Saturday-good times. I never saw the final arc though.

I don't think so, and I don't remember seeing the end of Yu Yu either.
