Suddenly I'm reminded of what someone far more talented at writing then myself had to say about the show :Halycon said:I was spoiled a bit by TVtropes actually, not of this death but of another major one.
Still that gives me something to look forward to.
Poor Reinhard ;_; What will you do now?

Like Mushishi but mediocre and tied down by CLAMP trappings. Prepare to see Watanuki do the same gags over and over when he's not actually in a serious situation.InfiniteNine said:What is everyone's verdict on XXXHolic? Huzzah a convert, welcome to the club,InfiniteNine said:Just finished Oh! Edo Rocket! Really loved how the whole thing was handled, the humor in it was unexpected at times which made it even better. Going to buy this once the DVD comes out in November for future rewatches. Going to start on Monster after a short break.
icarus-daedelus said:edit: Reknoc, funi has released multiple complete boxsets of Mushishi now so you could probably just nab one of those rather than trying to find the rest of the singles.
You should feel lucky that you even get a box case! I don't like having 8 discs inside one giant single box.Reknoc said:Bubububut my box! It'll look alone and empty with just Vol. 1 in it.
There's something satisfying about a nice, thick box of anime. I prefer box sets to single DVD/Blu Ray cases for that reason.Jexhius said:You should feel lucky that you even get a box case! I don't like having 8 discs inside one giant single box.

At one point amazon.com was understanding of this and shipped out complete Last Exile box sets when the customer only ordered Vol 1 with box. Gungrave too but it didn't happen for me.Reknoc said:Bubububut my box! It'll look alone and empty with just Vol. 1 in it.
You don't know what cardboard is until you try Bandai's Gurren Lagann sets. Everything about it feels cheap as hell. Then again I only have the FMP! Bluray sets available and Mnemosyne so i can't compare beyond that.Dresden said:There's something satisfying about a nice, thick box of anime. Unless it's from Funi and it's a scrap of cardboard held together by three pieces of tape.
I think you watched most of the good episodes since it went to filler-ville during the last half of the 2nd season. The OVA's animated by Production I.G. were amazing though.Regulus Tera said:I watched 30 episodes of Tsubasa ReservOIR Chronicle before I realised what a waste of time it was.
My Elfin Lied boxset is the worst thing I own (in more ways then one). It's just a loose cardboard container that happens to contain discs in it. It doesn't even retain it's shape.InfiniteNine said:You don't know what cardboard is until you try Bandai's Gurren Lagann sets. Everything about it feels cheap as hell. Sounds like my Gurren sets then except the disks are contained in the cheapest DVD cases I've ever laid hands on. The slipcovers the cases came in can't hold shape unless both of the DVDs are in each set.Jexhius said:My Elfin Lied boxset is the worst thing I own (in more ways then one). That's what I meant. I don't get having a zillion discs all in there.icarus-daedelus said:Although, I think the worst packaging is when every disc comes on a spindle inside one plastic box, like, you know, an old stack of CD-Rs or something. Moribito and Princess Tutu are the two I have that do this, and it's kind of awful even besides the fact that you have to take every single other disc out before you can get to the last one because it just screams cheap.
So that's not just an issue my copy then. Someone designed that pretty poorly.Reknoc said:The only boxset I have I have a problem with is both Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex ones, everything is packed in so tight it's a massive chore just to try and get one volume out.

I'm hearing rumors about Fate/Zero TV anime by ufotable...
Or even HD. That large resolution just reveals how low quality a lot of that background stuff is.Dresden said:Highschool of the Dead doesn't look like a show that benefits much from Blu Ray.

All the rest of my boxes are alright I suppose. Nothing great, apart from my Patlabor 1 + 2 Boxsets, which are just ridiculous.

I'll have to see if I can get the box somewhere. I don't like the cases these came with at all.Trojita said:I put all of my dvd's in the vol. 1 Gurren Lagann Shaped Box.
Anime companiesdid the same things with Code Geass and TMOHS, except those card board boxes seemed just a tad sturdier.
As far as I know each movie cost $90 when it came out (about £60), meaning it cost $180 to get both.Dresden said:That's... beautiful. How much did it cost?

I'm still a bit of a Touhou nerd, but it was knocked down after I played DeathSmiles for the first time. Looking forward to this since it looks like it'll be done right!luka said:I'm not a Touhou nerd by any means (Cave 4 lyf), but that was great.

I'm not so sure if it was an error. About the time of it happening (2009 wasn't it?) I was able to get the same set from the Beez Entertainment stall at the MCM London expo (the May 2009 one) for £25 (it was funny, I went in wanting only the movies as I'd heard they were £5 each but they only had the second film so I thought I might as well get both as LE as it was only £5 more) though to be fair their offers did tend to be better than online bought (no middleman I guess) so maybe play.com did glitch it.Jexhius said:As far as I know each movie cost $90 when it came out (about £60), meaning it cost $180 to get both.
There was some computer error, or stock error, in my favour over at Play and I got both movies in one set for £27 ($42).
I was pretty shocked when it arrived and I discovered it weighed a ton. Those books+thick cases made the whole thing feel very solid.

I guess there could have been a large amount of stock that they just wanted to shift, or some other reason, but the price has certainly normalised now.
Judging by the price-drops/possible-errors it's clear that lots of copies didn't sell. And considering they only had 1000 copies for the whole of the UK, that's bad sign.Starwolf_UK said:I think that is better than the shove on a shelf out of the way tat you usually get with limited editions though to be fair it did come at a premium when you consider the original price.

Yes, they come heartily recommended. Especially Kino's Journey.B.K. said:Are Flag and Kino's Journey any good? There's a used DVD store that I go to that has all four Flag DVDs for $4 each and the Kino's Journey boxset for $22. I read a little about them online. They don't sound too bad.
