Man, can't wait for Star Driver. Here's hoping Enokido delivers the craziness and doesn't hold back at all.

They were making those since the 70's, actually.

I honestly couldn't think of any, at least none that actually got a lot of mainstream attention.

But then again I'm a child of the 80s.

I'm still waiting to find out what exactly happened to Megaload-1 and the original cast, but Kawamori clearly isn't interested. He basically said "they fell into a black hole. the end."
I don't even know why he did it to begin with. Was it so he can avoid pressure to not use the old cast in macross sequels? :lol

Don't blame me, man. DrForester told me to watch the last four (five?) episodes, so I did. I haven't watched the rest of the series and I have no plans to ever do so. I did watch all of Inuyasha when it aired on Adult Swim over the years, though, so... yeah, you might be right.
This is very strange, i thought MoO was violinist of hamlin, however a quick look reveals there's no relation to them.:lol

For people that didn't bother to read the OP, Yoji Enokido, writer of Utena and Melody of Oblivion, is writing Bones' Star Driver. He promised in an interview you can read here that he is running wild and won't be holding back at all.

One would hope everyone was looking forward to Star Driver based on this already.

Guy Ninja 1: By the time we arrived at the battle site, the destruction was completed. You were badly wounded but the only person still alive. All the others...

Guy Ninja 2: Shit...

Girl Ninja: What's wrong with you? Effeminate man crying over the death of a woman.

Guy Ninja 2: SHUT UP, YOU BITCH! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!

Girl Ninja: GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!

Guy Ninja 2: YOU BITCH!

:lol

What are you quoting? It sounds like something I need to watch.

This is pretty great. :lol I'll need to find the full episode.

edit: hmm, kind of pricey for a single volume. I'm not sure about buying used, although that's obviously cheaper.

Don't post that youtube vid, man. It needs to be taken in all at once, not with random editing!
You can't edit perfection.
icarus-daedelus said:
That video doesn't even cover the half of it. It doesn't touch on the part, for example, with
Melody of Oblivion is what happens when you bring all the key staff of a project together, but not the director.

Ah, thanks for editing.

They have a used copy for 4.15 at Hastings, it seems. It'll be my first time going into an actual video store in a long, long time. :lol I think I'll pick it up tomorrow, the video was hilarious.

No, the best part is all the architecture that was clearly taken from designs that were left over at JC Staff from Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence Apocalypse. You know, strange, elegant, and splashed with lots and lots of red paint. It's almost eerie how similar it looks sometimes. Too bad most of it is used up in the OP. :-(
I couldn't even say what the best parts of the show were, if any existed.

LOGH 34: And Yang Wenli Jr. is born.
But it's becoming death note levels of 'BUT IT MIGHT BE A TRAP TO LURE US INTO THINKING THE POTENTIAL TRAP IS NOT A TRAP"
But that's just strategy. It's not inherently ridiculous, once you know all the enemies moves. Chess is the art of guessing multiple moves ahead, which is what the best commanders in LOGH can do.

Has any of JapanGAF gone to see Macross itsuwari no utahime in theaters? I'm tempted to preorder the hybrid bluray because Trial Frontier looks pretty good, but I have no idea if the movie is decent. It's really hard to find impressions so far.

In anticipation, while shitting bricks for the new ova.

You own elfen lied? :lol :lol
Sometimes one just purchases a show without watching it, when it's cheap, and was even fairly high on GAF anime list.

It's not like I keep it on my shelf or anything.
Lafiel said:
It's what happens when you are a zentradi and you hear a song by LYNN MINMAY.
Explanations like this always clarify those finer plot points.

It's high on a lot of lists. I think that's for three reasons, and none of them relate to actual merit.

Phezzan guy is suddenly altruistic?
Eh, who can predict the movements of the Phezzani.
Halycon said:
Yang is so awesome he doesn't even need to BE THERE to mindfuck with the enemy.
He has many super powers.
Branduil said:
You might like Ghost Hound. At least until the ending.
But isn't that true of most works?

I'll check it out anyway.

I always find it strange how it seems a lot of people on anime forums like to recommend shit like elfen lied and lucky star.:lol

I want to go to sleep but LOGH 38 just dropped the bomb.

I'M TIRED.

I WANT REST.

BUT REST WON'T REVEAL TO ME WHAT EPISODE 39 CONTAINS.
Maybe they don't want to exploit their property too badly.
Ahahahahahahahah

RahXephon 11

mmr2i1.jpg

A VR simulation, inside of a dream sequence, occuring in a fictional story. Yo dawg...

14cb0uu.jpg

"Shinji?"
"I live on... THROUGH THIS ARM."

Why the heck does this episode start in media res? I thought I'd started the wrong episode. It's not like it adds anything.

So it randomly starts with Kamina getting face-raped by a Mu. Then he disappears.

Naturally it goes into a dream sequence. Kamina is highly disturbed by the sight of his female friend kissing a male who is not him. Not to worry, she soon makes eyes at him too. Anyway, he runs away from them.

He talks with dream Haruka in a jazz bar. Suddenly he's groping her. Naturally this causes him to run away too.

Meanwhile, Quon is freaking out while in her underwear.

So now he's eating dinner with his alien mom. He wants to tell her that he touched his first breast today, but the opportunity never comes up. The TV is talking to him so his mom turns it off. He runs away to his room. He starts freaking out and throwing books. Wait, why is his mom putting on lipstick? No... no...

This freaking show. If it was any farther up Freud's ass, it'd be his colon. In fact, that should have been the subtitle.

RahXephon: Sigmund Freud's Colon

Anyways, if only you knew the power of RahXephon, blah blah blah, join me and together we can bring order to the universe, blah blah, I'LL NEVER JOIN YOU.

He finally meets Reika and she saves by pulling a 5-foot piece of stiff wood from his mouth. After watching this episode, I think I know what that feels like. He gets out of the dream, destroys the Mu, etc. Haruka is once again reduced to a quivering wreck. It's hard to believe this is the same character from the first few episodes.

The manga is over. There won't be any more K-ON coming out of the studio.

And like Lucky Star, it'll be forgotten in a year when Kyoani rolls out Nichijou. And then FMP.

Lots and lots of shows like to pull this one "to mix things up" but rarely for any explainable reason.

Blood, boobs, and incest. The things all serious connoisseurs recognize as the hallmarks of a truly great animu.
I was going more for violence, nudity and moe.

K-ON will be forgotten in a year? Impossible.

Well, the ending is more bad in the sense of disappointing and anti-climactic than aggravating and character-ruining. Whether that's worse is up to you. Still the best sound design I've heard in an anime.

Its a quirk of the Assistant Director, who worked on that episode. He does it later in the series, and he does it in Eureka 7 as well.

Lafiel said:

I made it farther into K-on than I did Lucky Star, so I'll give it that.

I don't know what to believe anymore. I thought I knew you Kyoani! I THOUGHT I KNEW YOU!

Seriously though, when you watch an anime without understandable dialogue, the things it does poorly become much more obvious. Or maybe it just seems that way with RahXephon.

RahXephon is a thematically rich anime with universally applicable messages such as "if your mom is a space alien, don't let her seduce you to the dark side."
