I barely read manga since it isn't for me so it would be a terribly short list, but I've been keeping up with The Breaker and Veritas because I like the art. The martial arts-based story kept me interested so that and the art are the reasons why I'm reading them right now. That's my criteria I guess.

I found it funny that both Breaker and Veritas had such abrupt endings, by the way.

Guess I haven't kept up with them.

I'm up to Ch. 68 in The Breaker and Ch. 81 in Veritas. So they end abruptly? Damn... chapter numbers they ended?

On that end of things I would recommend Vagabond or Shigurui. Warning on the latter however: the depictions of anatomy are quite detailed so the gore can be off putting for the squeamish.

Netorare isn't bad and has its moment, I think.
Goold old Sanbun is a little repetitive in his works, but his style in drawing women is alluring, and some of his stuff even got animated, although it wasn't all that great visually.
I also like Nagare Ippon, he does some interesting things.

Shin getter robo armageddon is pretty much the perfect response to your question. It's only 13-episodes - and hands-down one of the best super-robot shows out there. And GL has clear inspiration from it, probably more so then GaoGaiGar.
