Are you trying to increase the likelihood of this thread being locked by 10?

Moving to NSFW territory isn't a great plan!

I didn't do anything! shhhhhh don't remind us.

People do! At least they did back in the summer thread, when I said something stupid like K-On!! is the best written show of the year. :lol
I was thinking about it earlier and I've realized K-ON really isn't a good example of mono no aware. Consider, the K-ON girls' situation is analogous to how Americans perceive college. A time for making lifelong friends, unforgettable experiences and personal change.

But mono no aware is distinctly "un-american". Most will find more obvious examples of it (5cm per second, Tale of Genji) long, drawn out, and overly emotional with no payoff. Numerous posters in the summer thread, actually, applauded K-ON's conclusion as a good ending to their story.

There's a lot where the bad guy gets intercepted by a super strong good guy, giving the cast time to escape. At least it's better than leaving everyone alive for no reason.
Yea, that's true. I think that's somewhat common in Chinese Wuxia dramas. (or the good guy tricks the powerful evil guy into thinking that he's strong and gets away.)

Sure, shoot.

IIRC "Take on me"

just to recap: story consists of short dude who wears glasses , a tall girl who likes him (wears glasses) and she has a older sister that looks really young (also wears glasses).

thats all i got :p

Oh wait, it got worse.
Medical problems always get worse before they get better.

All the K-ON girls have always had McCain cheek tumors. You just don't notice it because it looks okay in motion.

Tbh I don't really see it different from the many "who's your favourite porn actress" threads we've had in the past.

As long as no actual NSFW material gets posted, I mean.

It took you to page 75 without discussing any new anime from this season in about a week to realise this?

I guess there was some kind of illusion cast over your eyes until everyone started talking about their fetishes.

Dreseden still fights the fight I see.

This thread needs soap.
I feel dirty just posting this.
Things got so bad Tears For Fears was making sense?

You probably got caught up in the "wackiness" of the thread. :lol
I don't think it was that bad though.
You've spent too long drinking the kool-aid!

I guess they weren't nearly a hundred pages long and generally off-topic.

So it has a good ending? Damn it, I'm a sucker for watching sequels.

It's that blob thing. K-On has a massive problem with hands, too (as do I, but let's ignore that)

Anyway!

Yup, that's the one. It has really good art.

Meh, K-On animation looks great when you're watching it... just all the screencaps will kill any artists in the vicinity is all

So how bad is Witchblade?
Don't anime fans charmingly refer to it as "Milfblade?"

The old thread was great. The new thread kinda sucks. Manga GAF is better when we actually discuss stuff. Anime GAF is just random shit thrown at a wall until something sticks, except it's actually amusing and hilarious.
So it would seem.

Jex: you talked about Giant Robo before, right? Is it worth it for someone who generally doesn't like Super Robot series (like Mazinger, etc.)?

Nii-Nii, Sex hair, and puppies!
They're personal reasons why I couldn't, but I didn't want to go OT here. Still can't continue any Summer shows right now.

And who can hate this?

firehawk12 said:
Man, isn't the photo just the perfect symbol of mono no aware? And Tamayura itself reflects the difficulty one has in trying to capture moments in time!

Ahem. :lol
Wouldn't each semester of school qualify perfectly too? Or is it because of the seemingly intermittent breaks between each semester in the U.S. I feel that way? No wonder high school animes are so popular.

I'm not Jexhius, but let me just mention that GR is great and you don't need to love mecha to like it.

So, what K-ON merch (nothing seedy) is available ?
Nothing seedy rules out almost everything, including the Yui-branded fleshlight I saw being marketed a while back.

You could always import some delicious Mugi-branded takuan, though.

Hm, Madhouse doing Supernatural?

I expected some studio that specializes in pretty boys so they can take advantage of the brothers' sexual tension.

Still, Madhouse means gore and vampire tits, so I might watch.

The summer thread was actually fairly well-behaved. I think it kind of went over the line today.

It went really freaking far over the line.

Head mishapen, hair drawn incorrectly, ear placement incorrect are things I can name on sight.

But why would you when those things are irrelevant in motion?

But mono no aware is distinctly "un-american". Most will find more obvious examples of it (5cm per second, Tale of Genji), long, drawn out, and overly emotional with no payoff. Numerous posters in the summer thread, actually, applauded K-ON's conclusion as a good ending to their story.

My focus is more on the transitory nature of the last year of school, emphasized by the number of episodes that they devote to Asuza and her lingering sadness at watching her friends leave her. It's hinted at in the opening episodes when they tried to recruit new members and she is the one who chooses to give up in order to preserve the status-quo. Of course, the climax is the last episode in which she begs them not to graduate but ultimately accepts that they will have to leave and that both groups will be able to create new experiences while preserving the old ones (as signified by the tape they make of their songs).

Sawako telling herself that she cannot erase the messages of thanks left by her students is also another example. Even though she doesn't want to erase the memory of her students, we presume that she eventually realizes that she can only hang on to that memory for so long before she becomes paralyzed by it. I can't remember the episode, but I presume that the chalkboard is erased at some point - even if it's not shown explicitly in the episode itself.

I'm not sure I agree with mono no aware has "no payoff". It's more a personal realization of the fallacy of feeling sad because of the passage of time. I mean, I suppose the fact that the band and Asuza's fate is left in the air is a form of "non-ending", but that is largely covered by the fact that the emphasis is on the graduation of the four lead characters.

Nonoriri said:

Because I actually notice these in motion unless I'm sleepy. I try not to anymore since it ruins things most of the time, but Kyo-ani hasn't perfected their moe stylings yet.

It's managed to make that thread look respectable.

How's that Hourou Musuko anime look? I'm a sucker for those mistaken-for-other-gender shoujos.
I read a lot of the manga. I don't think it's really aimed at girls in particular. I think it's really just aimed for everyone.... I think.

I really liked it though.

Is it more character driven or something?

Not sure about the studio, but the manga was excellent. I'm pretty excited for it, along with Infinite Stratos.

Just helping out a bro, man.

Really waiting on a trailer for this. If they can pull off the manga well it will be very excellent.

I'm really surprised it hasn't happened. I'm assuming duck, Shouta, and Hito all have better things to do right now, or else this shit would have been locked down by now.
Presumably.

Also, don't post photos of people who may or may not be you. You can't delete that stuff from other posters quotes!
