Half way through CCS! Man this show is good stuff. It's nice to watch something good after that meh summer season.
 
Max and Miria redeem everything. Macross 7 will remain tolerable so long as they aren't ruined somehow.

Well, it's based on a manga from 1975, so another age it is. Also, it originally ran in Margaret, which is aimed at middle school and high school girls, and while that doesn't make the Evil Cigarette scene any less goofy, it does help explain it a bit.

I figure people still call each other out on all the time. Just not so dramatically.
 
Still, cancellation isn't nearly as common as in American television. You certainly don't see shows getting canceled after one episode.

I think the license dropped in the U.S. and only a few episodes were released on DVD as far as I can find ;(

No it definitely predates that, if anything Durarara! mimiced it.

Is that guy a doujin artist or a designer? His stuff looks too good and variable for just a fan, even if he's japanese.

If Japanese TV is anything like Chinese TV, it's probably not worth it to shut something down. Either something's a hit and you can have it run forever, or it dies and lasts for a handful of episodes. I have to imagine that there are tons of Japanese idol variety shows to fill the time as well and those probably can run forever (just like Dancing with the Stars or whatever).

With anime, if the shows aren't on a 2 in the morning, they are probably mostly guaranteed hits like Pokemon or whatever.

Well it's not like a long format is tied to anything really.

Doujin artist, and it's not like fans are incapable of drawing well or anything.

Oh I know, I'm just saying I think his stuff is much better than even Pixiv's high standards, which is at least a billion times better than what you will typically find on DA. Usually with the really good fan artists they have or two distinct styles and stick to it. His gallery was really impressive not only with its quality but with the variety of stuff he was capable of. Looked like a portfolio really.

Interesting for them surviving for so long and its due to luck they were even found.
Minmay seems childish and seemingly flips easily but shes has a really great singing voice.
First taste of 80's nudity in this series :lol
Was cool showing off that the Macross is Alien in origin with the big room.

Transformation was cool
Minmay beaming with positivity and actually had a great idea.
When his back is against the wall Global does what needs to be done.
Interesting seeing the enemy is clueless about who they are fighting.
Sucked to see all the hard work for the city essentially wasted, but they can rebuild
Hikaru being bit of a dick near the end doesn't help him
And finally he will get off his ass.


As of now its been interesting with Macross's current situation and an enemy that's treating them more like an science experiment than an opponent but Hikaru really needs to do something.

Now for 6.

Well it'd be boring to draw in the exact same style all the time! 44 just knows how to enjoy drawing.

Oh, and Basara... I've never felt this way about any other character. Its not disdain, but its something close.

Anime parents usually don't give a fuck because their kids are out there adventuring and saving the world and collecting critters and shit.

This mom sucks because she's a lousy mom in a real world setting. And it's infuriating to me because I know there are parents like that out there.

Their development gets a bit more interesting later on. They don't have much of a presence in the first half of the show, same with Exedore or whatever his name is.

I had some choice words to say about Basara several days ago. Let's just say he gets a lot worse before he gets better.

I still don't know if he gets better
