Can someone recommend me some Anime series similar to Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo?

I loved those series and I'm desperately looking for something new to watch.
Apart from what Salazar mentioned, there's not to many shows that really cover the same ground well (although plenty to do it poorly).

Alternatively you could improve the chances of getting some more shows by mentioning other genres/works you enjoy.

Someone didn't go watch it....not naming names or anything.

Oh! Edo Ro- eh, you now the drill.

Have you tried Baccano?

Perhaps it's not really the genre that matters to me. I'm prone to liking a lot of genre's actually. Mecha, fantasy, sci-fi it's all fine with me actually.

Just what I'm looking for is a well drawn anime with a good comprehensive story-line. Not like some of those anime series out there with storyboards that come straight out of a Martians brain.

Baccano! might irritate you. It is - for all that I love it - a determinedly helter-skelter piece of work.

I reiterate the recommendation of Rurouni Kenshin. Cute kids, awesome fights, a story that holds together, pretty much no filler.

Default (TV) responses : Monster, Planetes, Kaiji, Baccano, Honey and Clover, Michiko e Hatchin.

Your dislike for martian madness precludes you from all the excellent works of Masaaki Yuasa.

Champloo can be like that as well, to be fair.

Yeah, but, even so, they're probably still in high school. Why can't otaku get off on adult females being objectified, at the very least?!
hey! i resent that, i'll have you know that my waifu is several thousand years old.

It doesn't air for another 5 hours or so in Japan. It won't be up on CR until about 7 hours from now.

Actually i did watch Zero so it makes it even harder to swallow and the name i picked all the more apt imo.

Need to get some sleep. :lol

Wait, we're talking Macross Zero?

Sharon Apple!

I despised the main character dude. I mean, wtf, steal prototype valkyries and take them on joyrides and get 0 repercussions for it.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama 22

What the hell kind of school takes its students to the mountains for 5 days to do monk training?! Standing under a waterfall hohoho

The story's at the very least moving along with the introduction of the childhood friend trope.

Of course they get locked in. This is getting really predictable.

Usui's still apparently the perfect guy though.

Shit I just realized I was talking about Macross Plus. Macross Zero is the prequel. That one, I liked.

The New York Times + Elfin Lied.

I never thought I'd be googling those words together.

Yep, the box quote was definitely taken out of context :lol

I have no idea who those are but I'm really glad more people will get to watch Summer Wars. Its less mainstream than Girl Who Leapt Through Time but its still a fun movie people should watch.

Yup, I personally don't give a crap but I figure some people would like the info. More Summer Wars for everyone!

I notice that UK retailers have changed the release date of Summer Wars from November to March. I knew I shouldn't have got my hopes up, I have a feeling March is being optimistic aswell.

Plot-wise, Summer Wars brings absolutely nothing new unlike Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Most of the stuff in Summer Wars is predictable from the young love to the family to the conflict and then the end result. But damn, if it isn't done really frickin well.

Summer Wars was pretty good. Nothing more. Would've been amazing if they cast Laura Bailey for every role, but alas, they did not.

They are probably dumping the dubbing duties to Funimation so it makes sense.

Summer Wars was a fun movie, can't really hold it not being as great as TGWLTT against it.

But its by Hosoda :(

True story, I went to see Summer Wars not knowing anything about it other than it was the Girl Who Leapt Through Time director.

The commercials didn't show anything about Oz or what. It was just, "this summer, come home!" and somesuch.

I wtf-ed at the start when they showed Oz.

This page brought to you by: Natsuki-senpai!

Well, he also directed the Digimon movies. And Superflat Monogram. So it wasn't that strange to me.

What Elfin Lied's box suggests "Brutally violent, sexually provocative" - New York Times

Oh sweet, the NYT said it was "provocative? That must mean a good thing!

"brutally violent, sexually provocative little girls" - Owch, not quite so catchy.

"She shifts from a cringing innocent who can say only "Nyu" to an articulate killer and back again for no apparent reason...(Lucy spends much of the show's opening episode completely naked, an example of the gratuitous nudity called 'fan service.')"

I enjoy that the article is rather weakly written, contains some minor factual errors, but manages to be correct in it's dismissiveness.

Best thing about Berserk so far is the music, goddamn it's good. Also since it goes straight to the backstory stuff there's no Puke which is definitly a plus.

so I finished Giant Killing, Rainbow and Mtsodomoe as this week was the last week and I want to write like simple revewes of what I think of them here, so it could ignite some disscussion, but 1) No one have watched them and 2)I am bloody lazy. So I'll just write a summery of them:

Giant Killing (9): Great Ideas and even fantastic excution. never seemed unrealistic in the football terms and brouht lot of knowladge about the sport. Fantstic handling of the oiginal material as it retained the look and the style of the manga. and the Music was amazing. the only downside is a bit of stiff and slow animation and lot of unrealstic (japanese thought up) of football mentality. Fantastic chants and atmosphere.

RAINBOW (7): Great story telling of a morbid true story. didn't add unrelastic elemensts to the story while retaining the melancholy feeling of the situatiuon. handled the violence and the attacks very well and they felt vehemently disgusting and painful. Great Atmosphere and charactersiation and music was well suited to the different situations the kids were. The down bit was that Chracters emotions were handled very naively and they seemed to hhave affections and trust in places that were dungerous in real life, and thh charcter art is done very digitally as it took away all the Mangas cool shots.

Mitsodmoe (7): enjoyed it very much. The starting Ep. weren't really funny as it had lot of toilet humor that weren't appropiet for kids to do. However, as the series progressed it became aware of its satiracle aspect of the society it took place and took lot of advanteage of situations that were impossible for any other Anime to delve into, therefore increasing the amount of fun and humor ones to have. Great art style and great and clean layout. Fantastic animation. Even though the jokes were lot of times one-dimensional and very much based on similiar notions, it stayed fresh throughtout.

my Anime of the year is still Baka no Test but Gianyt killing are there to combat with it. Must watch if you like football and enjoyed the World Cup.

I am sure no discussion will spur from it and this is my first review, be gentle

Yeah, but at least she was cute about it! Wabisuke was just a bitchface.
Acting cute about things like that just makes it worse! Wabisuke is at least honest about his douchebaggery.

Branduil said:
Natsuki was worse than Wabisuke for a lot of the movie. "Pretend to be my fiance! I'm in love with my great-uncle!"

umm...

What he said!

I was never annoyed at Natsuki in the movie because she was also so upbeat and happy. How could you get angry at someone like that?

No no, that's meant to be charming and quirky.
