You're going to have to be a little more descriptive than this because my backlog is pretty huge at this point. Should I watch it before or after Belladonna of Sadness? Because alleged influences on Kunihiko Ikuhara take precedence over all else, brother.

Don't make me choose between those two masterpieces, bro. ;_;

Anyway, Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai! is a super-eccentric 2D-animated puppet show filled with funky melodramatics and fourth wall breakage. It's insanely entertaining and emotionally engaging.

After watching Angel's Egg, I feel compelled to watch the rest of Mamoru Oshii's catalogue all over again (plus the Urusei Yatsura movies, I guess, which I've never seen) because there's got to be something amazing and brilliant there that I missed the first time around.
Oshii only did the first two Urusei Yatsura movies. The first was more in keeping with what the producers and Takahashi wanted, but the second was when he said, "You know what? Fuck this shit. I'm doing it my way from now on." He then left his job directing the Urusei Yatsura TV series 107 episodes in and didn't do anything else UY related from then on.

His replacement, Kazuo Yamazaki, went on to do Maison Ikkoku after UY wrapped up.

- US FLCL BD Box planned for Feburary. I guess the delay to next year is to fix King Records horrible Q-TEC upscale. http://twitter.com/#!/funimation/status/27078101673

Awesome! That's definitely a good one to have in the collection.

- Soul Eater Blu-ray BOX confirmed. BOX1 1/26, BOX2 3/23 26250yen. Spec hasn't changed much from what I already listed before but neowing lists English subtitles and dubbing, so that's new. Special/bonus features: Audio Commentary(1, 6, 8, 14, 19, 21, 24 for box 1 and 28, 34, 39, 40, 45, 51 for box 2), Non-credit OP/ED, PV, TV spot, and Soul Eater Repeat Show OP/ED. Digipak. I think FUNi will release this eventually...

With English dub and subs already on, it would seem like FUNi wouldn't even have to do that much work to bring it over. Hopefully they don't take too long on that front.

Ritsu is the best HTT member and she wasn't even in that stupid contest, which clearly disqualifies it as the authority on which moe is bestmoe. Anyway, I don't see anything particularly dislikable about Mio, and her reactions to Ritsu's mental tortures are pretty amusing. She also has the second best hair on the show, after Mugi, but I digress. K-On K-On K-On K-On K-On!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, Aria just switched to a fall color palette, and I love it even more now. EVEN MORE. I didn't think this was possible. I feel so good and positive about animu right now. Maybe I should watch some shows from the actual Fall 2010 season so I can be on topic in a thread for once in my life, since I'm in such a nice mood. Or maybe I should just watch more stuff from the 80s-00s. Argh, decisions!

I know, but I've never seen any of them. I figure I should probably finish the tv show first.
I only watched like 5 episodes of K-on but I agree with you on that. Though she mainly wins by default since all of the other characters are terrible.

The TV show gets really good, so I definitely recommend doing so, but you can be OK with just watching the first episode.

- Funimation plans to release Summer Wars Blu-ray in 2011 Spring.

That's coming out here (and in France) November 3 2010!
Feels weird that an anime BD is coming out here before America.

Whoa whoa!!!
Im watching Yosuga no Sora currently and dayyyyyyymnn!!!
I thought it was another romance anime but whoooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaa...
I never expected explicit nudity, female masturbation and incestual relations in the 1st episode.
wtf.

Still gonna watch it though. Wish me luck Anime-GAF.
Now since the ep. 2 is fully loaded, I iz gonna watch.

It's probably because of the small theatrical release that's going to go on this year.

Apparently the nausicaa blu-ray is coming out here in november. (Australia). Along with the girl who leapt through time (blu-ray) around the same time. I need to get my hands on those, as soon as they come out.

Saki, episodes 21-25 -- Yeah, I finished the series. Liked it a lot the whole way through, I'm definitely hoping for a series two eventually, as the manga gets farther. It's such a fun series... and yeah, Saki's ridiculous powers really show in the later episodes. The way she wins is so absurd, and I don't even know much about Mahjong... :lol

It was interesting that Mihoko was the only non-main-group member to go to the nationals. With how much they built up Ryuumonbuchi, Touka and Koromo particularly, I'd have thought that at least one of the two of them would be going on. It's a little odd to have them as such major characters if that wasn't going to happen, they definitely got more focus than Mihoko and her school. Also, Koromo deserved to go to the family restaurant again. :)

I mean, sure, of the people in the individual tournament it makes sense for Mihoko to win as she clearly is really good, one of the best apart from Koromo and Saki. If Koromo isn't going to compete it makes sense for her to win, though why Koromo didn't I have no idea really apart from keeping Ryuumonbuchi out of the finals... , but still, focuswise it was odd. But this series does keep introducing characters, such as that random other girl who shows up for a few episodes in the individual tournament with the wind powers, they act like she's relevant but she ends up having a fairly small role. Oh well, with only 25 episodes I'm sure deciding what to focus on where was difficult. And it does give it a different feel as has been said already, putting a lot more time on the major losing teams and their own perspectives than most similar shows would do. I just think that that had both positive and negative results. They made some somewhat strange decisions about what to focus on at times. It's not a major problem, but it did annoy me sometimes...

Overall though, good series. I definitely liked it.

I enjoyed Saki a lot as well, despite what I feel are big pacing issues that Gonzo put in the show. Some segments felt really dragged out to me just to try and hit the end without going farther than they went.
Thinking back, I started watching it because of someone's comment about Saki's powers, otherwise I wouldn't have watched it and I would have missed the chance to start reading the manga and miss Yuuki's ass-shots.

Squid Girl 02

Well at least they got all the blatant fetishizing out of the way early :lol

Also Squid Girl is tsundere for humans, who woulda figured!

I can see that, the portrayal of body language on Spice & Wolf is carefully done and super good. And you can't go wrong listening to Ami Koshimizu and Jun Fukuyama argue playfully, even if you don't know exactly what they're saying. It's just, it'd be a shame to waste such great dialogue even if you know the general *gist* of it. Great dialogue being so rare in animu. Hence why I am holding out a faint hope that funi will do the work for me and bring over the blurays, presumably as their eventual third or fourth re-release of the show.
Haha, I wish it was just the language barrier that made importing the Spice and Wolf Blurays problematic, but for me the language barrier means nothing, I don't necessarily care if I can understand something, the main problem with Spice and Wolf on Bluray is the ridiculous price, I think it's around 600 US dollars now. I'm crossing my fingers that Funi brings it over in a worthwhile fashion as well, God knows there's a lot I can do with 600 bucks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

And what's with everyone being in the thread hours early today?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So anyways, seems like I went through one of my self loathing spats so I decided to watch Motto To Love Ru and Sora no Otoshimono or whatever the hell it's called, is it me or are both seasons so far worse than their previous seasons? Don't get me wrong, they were always terrible shows they just seem worse this time around if that's possible.

Both the manga and anime of ToLoveる would be greatly improved with more Kotegawa.

I'm enjoying this season more then summer. And it could be better then spring if P&S & star driver hold up. Oh yeah and if kuragahime ends up being really good.:p

UMINEKO DIRECTOR! Only a miracle can save this one.

Zakuro: ep.2

A lot of the humor is gone thanks to Agemaki getting used to most of the demons now... and I long for a day when a sword is just a sword, and not some stupid mascot animal, and a bedraggled one at that.

The twin-swap thing with Hozuki and Bonbori was just silly, since their VAs are distinctive enough that you just have to recognize which one is Yui Horie (Hozuki) to figure it out. Wasn't exactly a difficult task for the young lad.

And when the lieutenant showed up, oh my, love triangle. Much of the enthusiasm I had for the show is gone now. Just wasn't as fun as the first.

No, Chiaki Kon is doing Zakuro.

If you say so, lol, she's not the worst character on the show and perhaps it'd be an improvement but I don't think it'd be good either way.

Eh, I dunno as far as my tastes go, both seem pretty terrible but I haven't seen kuragahime yet.

Truthfully I've lost the ability to understand half of ya'll, I don't know if statements like "if P&S & star driver hold up" as to me they were both incredibly weak, it's like we were all going down the same river and all of a sudden it forked and I'm all alone on my side, I used to be able to relate but now, I'm not so sure, lol.

I think TLR is terrible, but I do enjoy his other manga, Mayoi Neko Overrun. I couldn't stand the anime but the manga is enjoyable. It's kind of like how I feel about Saki.

One's taller than the other, their voices are totally different and they probably have something different in their hair as well, not paying that much attention, but yeah, pretty easy.

Pretty sure he's a bad guy, so maybe he won't be a rival for long.

Did that end? Mayoi Neko Overrun, I mean. It kinda seemed like it did after that last chapter.

I didn't notice that at all. :lol What the hell, really?

Ugh, did it? I figured it was just the wrap-up of Nozomi's arc. If it ended thanks to the new To Love Ru... oh well.

Huh.... huh...........

I never thought of that.

And considering that Yami and Momo are my favorites, I'm not complaining ^^

Squid Girl is really fun. I mean, it's nothing profound, but it's funny and cute and that's okay. :lol

OoFuri would develop the other team as well, but Saki goes the extra mile by going into the characters' personal lives. I think it's an interesting touch and at least justifies the 20 girl onsen episode at the end.

I'm surprised that Saki was relatively restrained... well, as restrained as a series with girls intertwining fingers can be anyway.

Was that the slutty one? I liked her. Ambivalent on the assassin-loli. Agreed with Infinite that Yui is good.

I think TLR would be greatly improved if most of the characters died and it was just the slutty twin with Yui and maybe Mikan.

I've finally started watching Star Driver.

What the hell is wrong with their necks?! Even the creepy necks CLAMP draws look somewhat better than that!

I'm just too lazy to find another one since I don't have a creative bone in my body. Like I said a while ago, I don't even like ME2 anymore so it's more of vestige of laziness than anything else. :lol

Huge difference between being associated with geeks and being associated with "pedophiles". Anti-anime gaf will discount his opinion entirely. Of course those guys aren't worth talking to in the first place.
