One statistic that stood out as interesting to me.

WHAT THE? :lol
Well y'know, if people go through their sexual awakening while they're playing those games, why not? They've certainly been around for a while.

I didn't say it mainly dealt with porn either.
Sorry I was thinking of Brandiul's stupid conclusion and assumed.

True, but the premise is related to largely adult games.
Well it's a factor in the story, but it's mostly tied to Kirino and Kyousuke trying to get along among all this otaku outing and activity. Not sure why Kyousuke would play games he doesn't want to be associated with otherwise other than trying to bond with his sister by trying to take interest in activities she enjoys.

On another note I seem to have a lot more to say when I'm in pain and tired.

Somewhere along the way, we went from the mecha/day-moe/night cycle to porn-porn-porn all the time.

If you think OreImo and TWGOK is porn, yes.

In that case, I'd duck for cover since InfiniteNine is prowling about.

It's like light porn.

"Here guys, we made these characters and situations, now run with them!" That's the feeling I get from most of these things. Not that I care as no one forces me to watch or read anything.

You should! It also includes children getting burned alive.

So the manga is good? Would you say someone that disliked the anime would like the manga? I avoided the 1st volume published this month because I couldn't ever get to like the anime.

It's definitely possible. As I've said, the anime and manga are both pretty different in content and tone.

Hey man, porn is whatever you get an off to. Therefore, yes!

Don't non-porn galge sell terribly? I'm sure I read about that somewhere.
I just wish things were clearly labeled so that I'd know when I'm buying porn.

A majority of them have "18+" and/or "ADULT ONLY" on the covers somewhere.

Looks like I'll finally be able to watch Monster soon, but for now sleep!

Sure, but now anime fans aren't even discrete about only liking it for all the underage fanservice and wish fulfillment stereotypes. It used to be that they would make a show about something with the fanservice as an undercurrent, now it's just blatant. "Teenage girl who likes incest porn and her adventures with other cliche-ridden characters who all love the anime porn industry."

At this point the only way anime can become more self-fellating is if they made an anime about people who love to discuss on the internet anime about people who love anime(and all of them are underage girls).
Not really sure considering the business model if it's not self-fellating and rather goes out of it's way to ridicule the audience that buys the products. Heck writers and artists might not care, it's a new frontier. But publishers and sponsors? Nahhh

That's not even his best film (not that TGWLTT isn't flawed in places).

That acronym always takes me at least 15 seconds to figure out every time it comes up. I'm just too used to it's Japanese title. :(

Eroge is a convenient shorthand for the author to say "LOOK THIS PERSON IS WHAT YOU MIGHT CONSIDER A HARDCORE OTAKU" I think in this example.

It's the Brocon Eroge thing that is more relatable to the premise, I suppose.

Well, I guess in a few weeks you can add one more to that doujinshi list!

Code:
Titles #Adult-Only %Adult-Only Series
1 0 0 Full Metal Panic
Fuck yeah, I'm gonna make my Tessa snuff comic a reality baby!

I need an artist!

anyone still use crunchyroll? is paying worth it?

or is there a better service? I wish Netflix would offer something more or Hulu should have much more than they do now

I'm trying to catch up on this season

I'm not sure she even knew Shinji did the deed =/

The sick bastard, though, should have jumped into the blood pool or something.

Yeah, CR is fine. You don't even have to pay if you don't mind being a week behind.

She must have known during instrumentality.

Actually that's what the whole sequence in EoE 2 with Shinji choking Asuka is about.

CR's not bad, it does what it does, whether it's worth paying for depends on if they have any shows you like.

I'm a little miffed about streaming, all streaming, not just CrunchyRoll but Funimation, Youtube, Hulu, all of them and that's that their HD streams suck. They suck. I don't give two shits if you crank the resolution and axe the bitrate, it's, damnit, why fucking bother? Ugh. Anyways, it is what it is,we at least have the chance to watch these shows legally hours after they air in Japan so it's not a big deal I just hate seeing a HD label for something that IMO looks worse than over the air SD in motion.

But anyways, back to Crunchyroll specifically, if there's one thing I like about them it's that they essentially facilitate you watching them on anything you own. There's a Boxee, iPod and iPad plugin that all can access your paid content. That's pretty nifty. The Anime Network isn't that liberal, Hulu at least now has a iOS plugin but it's pay for all the content and Youtube, well the ad supported stuff generally doesn't work without Flash so it's a non starter for most devices but a computer, so Crunchyroll is actually viewable on the most devices and I wouldn't be shocked to see them whip out a GoogleTV plugin in the future either.

CrunchyRoll's forums however are fucking terrifying.

But Hulu has a much better back catalog.

Like I said, if it has shows you like on it it's not bad but frankly, the amount of good shows each season is slim and they generally don't get the best ones so for me the back catalog is the bigger deal, but that's purely taste, someone else may like 1 or 2 shows they get each season. Like Firehawk, he seems to like Aoi Hana which CR got.

They try to acquire everything, since the cost of translation/localization is apparently very low.

Also, Aoi Hana is the only decent shoujo-ai/yuri anime, so it's pretty unfortunate that the show bombed.

Better than Blue Drop????? I'd say Blue Drop was better, but still shitty in my eyes, because of the cool music and clean art, but Aoi Hana had nice art direction but was way more boring. Yuri ain't my thing though so I'd be amazed if I ever actually liked one.

Demon Maid Zakuro whatever 5, sucked, again. All I can really say about it is if they could all carry those sticks around on their bodies why'd they keep that Chupacabre looking thing around? Fuck.

Also MM! 5, what the fuck was that episode? Like something Soro no Otoshino or whatever the fuck that perverted Angel show would do.

Well, there was at least a coming out episode (of sorts) and it's not girls making out with girls for the benefit of a male audience. :lol

Don't kid yourself, it's always for the male audience.

thanks for the reply I'll try CR free until I catch up and check what Hulu paid has.

I have seen some stuff on Netflix this weekend that I enjoyed and really never knew existed

streamed all of "Mushi-Shi" this weekend and enjoyed it but never knew about it, so I have been off anime for many years have to find the good stuff

gone to CR to watch some stuff

I don't think there's any Anime that's only on Hulu Plus so unless you're on an Idevice, Hulu paid's not worth it.

The way Hulu's handled Hulu Plus is fucking retarded, some shows on are on Hulu Plus but not Hulu, some are on Hulu but not Hulu Plus, some are partially available, it's idiotic.

CrunchyRoll Has Natsume Yuujinchou, make sure you watch it! Also, Natsu No Arashi was good fun and worth a watch and Squid Girl from this season is decent. Erin is supposed to be good but God was it too slow for me, that's about all from their catalog I care for unless you wanna watch the first Bleach arc.

The ratings on Crunchyroll are absolutely abysmal, you can't trust them as the people rating that shit seem to like everything. Fucking weirdos just rate everything from Japan 4 stars and above, no matter what.

It's not even that great though. It was alright.

True dat. These shows have a purpose.

Although, that Oniisama...e and Rose of Versailles stuff wasn't for males.

The female anime watching demo is so small as to be abysmal. No one in their right mind targets the girl demographic. I don't even think that the anime from shoujo manga are aimed at girls.

Females! I win! Oniisama sounds like it wasn't for anybody in their right mind, I should get around to seeing it.

Wouldn't surprise me.

Got my Evangelion 2.22 BRD today, and just finished watching it.
What a fucking great movie.
I actually liked Shinji, a lot more than I ever did in the regular anime, and a fair bit more than I did in 1.01 (still have to watch 1.11).
Asuka was a bit more bitchy than I remembered, and I still like Rei best (it must be the red eyes+blue/white hair) -so I completely loved the ending- but she was likable by the end, which made the happenings sad.
The new girl, Mari... well, she's pretty to look at. There's little else that I could say about her.

The whole movie was so gorgeous, really a joy to watch.

Old news, but it looks like no one bought Aoi Hana on disc:

That's quite.... disappointing and saddening.

Unlike yaoi, there seems to be an even split between stuff written by women for women and stuff for men. At least it's why I assume there isn't a gay male equivalent of Erica Friedman blogging about the "loser fangirl" rating of the latest yaoi releases.

Eh, while it may be wrong to treat such things as solid fact, most of the data I've seen with regard to males vs. females shows a fairly small gap. Often it's 55% male to 45% female, but if fluctuates.

And there's plenty of shoujo aimed at girls, and joesei is obviously even more so (even if not enough of that gets made into anime).

All I can imagine is some kind of virus that spreads via the internet and affects people with bad taste.

But who buys the most anime dvds?

You were the first soul the virus claimed!

Hey, we need not blame each other, ok? Besides, I'm not showing any of the symptoms. I'll tell you the antidote, I hear it's a Holo avatar.

You're trying to bore me to death aren't you?

My best comedic work this week was yesterday, even thoughit's still the same day for me, I can't be on fire 24/7 even I need to rest.

But that said, Asuka sucks! Nananana.

mAcOdIn said:

No-one.

As I said, there's no proper data, instead you have to use what you can.

Ex-Answerman from ANN said:
After spending the better part of a decade working as a writer and an editor in the world of anime, and specifically, writing this column, there’s one observation I think I can make – anime fandom has changed drastically in the last 8 years. If you took someone from 2000 and transported them here I doubt they’d recognize it. It’s gone from being dominated by college-aged and older men to being pretty evenly split between genders – perhaps now leaning toward being predominantly female. It’s gotten way younger too.
