Would you sleep on top or alongside with it?
I'd put my head on it like any normal pillow! Although honestly before i go to bed with one, I'd probably stare at it for a good 15 minutes.:lol

Why not replace every pillow in your house with a body pillow?
Not a bad idea. I'd buy one for each of my siblings.:lol

Heartcatch Precure - 38
Cure Blossom
Mirage. That is all.

Wish I never found out about this today. Now I'll have to wait the unbearable wait like everyone else.

Is that a movie?
Yep. It was announced back in 2006 apparently. Gothicmade

Edit: Mamoru Nagano, who's thoroughly involved with Gothicmade, also wrote a manga called Five Star Stories. I've been wondering the name of this for years. I'll have to check it out eventually.

Unless OAV's and TV shows have like, multiplied their budget by a factor of 10.

Yeah I've actually brought it up in the anime threads a couple of times. Ridiculous animation and mecha design porn.

Season II has no smiles. Apparently the motto is life's a bitch.

That looks very interesting. Five Star Stories is an amazing manga with one of the most elaborate worlds I've ever seen. It's also incredibly hard to follow because there are like 1000 characters and the all look exactly the same. Too bad it's only at volume 12 after 24 years.

Yeah those clips you posted before looked incredible, I really need to watch the anime.

The World God Only Knows Episode 05:
Oh poor Kanon. Kami-nii-sama is above 3D idols and their trickery!

Mobile Suit Gundam II - Man, their defences are a joke. People just take whatever vehicle they like out of the hold, spies wander in, members of your crew are traitors, civilians are given free reign to stroll around and the security isn't fit for a child's piggy bank. What gives, Bright?

And what's with all the tight framing? Have these guys not seen movies?

Finally, a slightly creepy fixation on young boys and older women.

Bright's just an uncommissioned officer. Give him a break, yo :P

EDIT: Oh wait, you're referring to the movie, that would make sense, haha. I guess he is technically commissioned at this point lol

EDIT2: Oh, he wasn't even an officer at first..

He's right you know, or else they turn into :

Also, a good illustration in just how tightly this movie is framed.

Pretty much any OVA or TV series has a higher budget than Gothicmade. It is a movie being put together by like 5-10 people (with Nagano doing almost all the work, and a couple of keyframe animators helping him because they are personal friends). It has been in development since 2006 or earlier, and is entirely produced by Automatic Flower Studios (aka: Nagano's basement). The vocal theme is sung by Nagano's wife. :P

So it's the Midori – Shoujo Tsubaki of mecha anime? Except with good animation?

Maybe I should be less obscure.

Yeah... and episode 7 too. It's such a painful favorite of mine. ;(

You mean FSS? I must have missed it then. I just forgotten about it completely since I never found a name for it. Nostalgia at its best.

I've read about that a little. Really surprised how stalled it is. I figure like anyone else that a generation is enough to finish something.

Yeah that sounds like something the creator of FSS would make. Nagano sure loves these overambitious pet projects that take forever to finish. I expect it to an absurd attention to detail when it gets released.

Yeah, the PS2 art is pretty damn nice. ):

This game is pretty hard though and it's getting me excited! I get off on a challenge!

Yes, I'll defeat those stock scores!

FSS makes Berserk seem like it's half assed and released frequently.

In one of the Newtype previews about the project, they talked about how the raining scene in the trailer was animated. 700-800 layers of hand drawn rain particle effects done by key animator Yasuhiro Nakura. It has nothing to do with budget, just insanity. Honestly, they could probably have written a simple renderer plugin to achieve the exact same effect for way less effort and work.

I love the art of animation, but at some point certain things strike me as a waste of time and effort, especially for what you get in return. Certain things are definitely not possible to replicate well using automated tools of CG, in which case making it hand drawn even if it takes more effort results in something where the audience directly sees the value of. Here, it just sounds like a waste of time for something which doesn't really end up looking any different. Effort for effort's sake is unproductive.

I'm so done with discussing 'tsundere," I feel I've already invested too much time trying to argue over a foreign word used to describe fictional characters. Not to mention if I'm wrong then I feel I should still be right.
So at least you admit that last part, that you're wrong. Feel free to think you should be right, though. :)

Are you sure? I agreed with that stuff, I thought that was a reply over why anime characters never rely on authority figures or never want to inconvenience people who's job it is to be inconvenienced. But that stuff I agree, every character has to have some kind of weakness, especially the females and it's common everywhere, heck we still make our female actresses look shorter than the men, they can't even look taller.
Well, those replies started by agreeing with you on the authority figures issue, but then I moved on into other stuff and no, you didn't reply to that part then. But yes, on this we seem to agree, if you also think that it's too bad that they do this that is.

I get that!
You seemed to be sort of trying to deny it, though. I don't really like that fact myself, but of course it's true.

Of course they all have equally long lists of flaws, my argument was never "Tessa sucks because she's not perfect but that Tessa sucks because she's a terrible commander and is commander only for blatant fan-service type shit." So of course Sousuke's got a huge list of flaws, along with Kaname, Mao and the rest, although due to screen time clearly not as long a list as I could make for Tessa, Sousuke and Kaname but Kaname can have more flaws than any because her official job as appointed to her by the country of Japan is that of a High School student, her job requirements consist of going to school paying attention and doing her schoolwork and then going home, that's it. She's not the commander of a sub! Tessa and Sousuke have real life job descriptions that come with higher standards and requirements than being a high school student, Sousuke could be considered just as incompetent, if not more-so, a soldier as Tessa is a sub commander.
I think the irony is, by anime standards Sousuke is probably actually competent... um, not socially though of course. But he's not a complete moron like a lot of major anime characters. As I said though his list of flaws and bad decisions would be quite lengthy. He is a funny character, with that insane contrast between hypercompetent military guy (way beyond the ability I think a real person that age would have, but this is anime) and utterly incompetent everyday person... :lol

But no, I disagree about Tessa. If she was just fanservice, they didn't need to make her commander, she could have been in some lower position. Because she is commander though it says that she is competent and important. Obviously you disagree, but I definitely think that that's true. They could have just had the guy as commander and her as second or secretary or something, but no, she's commander, and did earn it.

Also though, you're right about Kaname's "job", but of course she also has a superpower of sorts, with that stuff in her head, so she can't be considered just a normal schoolgirl... though as we were saying it's kind of absurd that she's being left there at all, considering how much danger she's in she shouldn't be. But yeah, that is technically what she's supposed to be doing.

I love my personality type, I don't need anything in life classified really.
Don't worry, I don't think real people classify well into anime-people personality types...

In my defense, it looks like crap.
Well, um, the main character is incredibly, infuriatingly annoyingly stupid, the plot's only decent, and more, sure, that's true... but it's quite popular anyway. I'm not entirely sure why, actually, I think it's alright but not great... it does have good character designs at least, and some cool battles. There's also a somewhat convoluted story, always a plus for anime I guess.

Well that's too bad, that lessons my enjoyment somewhat.
What, the smily wasn't enough of a clue? :)

Yeah, but at least Rei's a clone or some shit and raised for that express purpose and not an actual normalish human.
True, she was raised specifically for that purpose, so it's not entirely her fault. Still doesn't change that that is how she is though.

Well I'd prefer to be the light character anyway, so evidently it works out both ways. :)

Yeah but I just asked for what looked coolest, I had no desire to work within a series or anything.
I can't imagine paying so little attention to something I cared about...

If you could even imagine such a thing you must've been partly tempted.
You're the one who brought it up first, it's not my fault! :)

Poor souls. Both camps.
Indeed.

Jesus, at this rate of FMP discussion I'm going to have to add, Tessa, Kanama, Sousuke and tsundere to my spellchecker so I'm not driven insane.

Kanama? Don't add that one... :)

Oh, for anyone wondering I did enjoy Mobile Suit Gundam II, even if I had to switch to the 5.1 track at the end to avoid listening to that bad 80's music.

Wait, it had different audio? This is the DVD trilogy box that was released many a moon ago?

And I liked the movie music... I think

EDIT: Oh wait, you're in UK, right? I guess we wouldn't really have the same DVDs...

Pretty funny with Ika thinking she maybe an alien, and her conquering the Principle's office. Mini-Ika-chan. ;__;

Kuragehime 3 - the mistaken identity love triangle + highly improbable plot contrivance/conflict. Well, I suppose it's good that the show isn't just a series of nerd references I guess.

:lol That sounds exactly like something the creator of FSS would make. To be honest I wasn't impressed with FSS because characters the characters or the story or anything like that. I was just blown away by the insane amount of thought and effort that went into every useless detail. In the manga volumes there are just pages of timelines, tons of maps of planets and solar systems, ridiculously comprehensive analysis of random character's wardrobe, explications of certain jobs and positions including details about their wages and fucking pension plans and tons of other insane details that are too many to mention. And that was just the stuff packed into the manga itself, I shudder to think of what the artbooks are like. It's like the guy wanted to single handedly outdo the scope and intricacy of big popular sci-fi universes like Star Trek within his 12 volume manga.
