It's like endless eight in thread form but infinitely more entertaining.

It's better than the moe discussion, that's for sure.

*ignores that tsunderes are a specific subset of moe*

I was just blown away by the insane amount of thought and effort that went into every useless detail. In the manga volumes there are just pages of timelines, tons of maps of planets and solar systems, ridiculously comprehensive analysis of random character's wardrobe, explications of certain jobs and positions including details about their wages and fucking pension plans and tons of other insane details that are too many to mention. And that was just the stuff packed into the manga itself, I shudder to think of what the artbooks are like. It's like the guy wanted to single handedly outdo the scope and intricacy of big popular sci-fi universes like Star Trek within his 12 volume manga.
If I remember well, the timeline was actually published before the series even began... That sure is an odd/interesting way to write such a series...

You guys ragging on moe better not be watching that squid girl show. That show is pointlessness personified.

Quite a few fantasy authors seem to do that, actually. Most don't do it with the obsessive detail of FSS, but regardless, you'd be surprised to see how many charted out who won what mythical war 2,000 years before or after the setting of the story.

Lets talk about something more productive.

Princess Tutu. It's been way too long.

Is it already time to repost this? Cause it owns. Princess Tutu owns and every pure red-blooded male should have more Princess Tutu in their lives.

EDIT - Damn, beaten :lol

while at first I liked tsunderes, now I can't stand them. they get annoying after the tenth episode and sometimes it's just gets to the point of mean. Totally ruined haruhi and toradora for me, especially when watching a show from start to end straight.

Nah, Haruhi sucks. She's the second worst character in her own show. If time-tits didn't exist she'd be the worst, hands down. Kyon makes that show, he and Nagato.

As for Taiga, Minorin was a far more interesting character. I'm not going to go into "who deserved who" because that's fanboy shit, but as characters go Taiga was an abusive, violent bitch for whom I had no sympathy whatsoever.

How do me and Vox/Dresden manage to coexist in this thread when our tastes are at polar opposites?
If we all had the same taste this thread would be boring. The only thing that should remain the same is our love for asuka!

As much as it pains me to say it, Minori, like Kitamura, was a walking plot device. A good and well-developed plot device, but one nonetheless!

Besides, everyone knows Ami is the best character.

I always thought Sadamoto preferred Rei, judging by what he did with the manga. I don't have a problem with her.

Ritsuko and Misato > underage girls, anyways.

There are people with bigger taste discrepancies then you and those guys. I could probably name a few in here that don't like a single show I like and vice-versa. That's much more significant than arguing which character in a single show is cuter.

Nothing wrong with Fujioka. We're talking about Suzumiya, anyways.

I don't like Taiga. Never will. Maybe some of it is my reflexive dislike for almost anything tsundere.

I like the way you roll, good sir.

Crap, my obsession with asuka is actually very creepy considering she's like 14.:/ (and I'm 19). I'd imagine it's even creepier for I9.:lol

Taiga had her moments, for example when she to copy Ryu's cooking or when she went to live with her father because Ryu told her so. It was obvious she listened/admired Ryu. 95% percent of the other time she was just annoying.

It's anime. Age doesn't matter. They would be exactly the same whether they were 14 or 18.

I was 13 when I started liking her so as far as I'm concerned it's okay. I don't need old ladies with crippling personalities due to past trauma.

I can't in good conscious find Taiga terribly annoying overall because A) she was actually well-written for being the stock tsundere lead and B) having suffered through Louise, Shana, and now Kirino just makes her seem that much of a better character by comparison.

Could also help that Novel Taiga > Anime Taiga, but that's another argument!

You'd rather deal with crippling trauma+puberty?

I have to admit that I thought Maya Ibuki was cute.

They publish the entire timeline before the first episode, really? ^_^;
Oh, he published it before it even came out? Now that certainly is odd.

Really didn't like Familiar of Zero. I liked Shana as a show, thought it had a neat, and decently executed concept, even if I wasn't a big fan of Shana herself (though she was miles better than Louise), and I'd put Taiga way above them both.

It can still be alleviated quite a bit at their age before some nasty habits develop to cope by being in a somewhat healthy relationship. Ritsuko and Misato already found their outlets through copious amount of sex and throwing themselves into their work. Plus Asuka talking to the puppet is cute.

You just need 14 year olds with crippling personalities. :p

As I said they have yet to ingrain themselves with unhealthy coping mechanisms. ;P It's easier to get lessen these problems if they haven't been broken for so long.

Yeah, it's a bit like he's thinking "hey, they make WWII movies despite the fact we know how it went down, who won in the end and what the aftermath was, so why not?" Which... Yeah, I guess that's true... but still...? ^^;
'Sounds like an interesting experiment, anyway... Not my cup of tea, personally, but...

Except that never happens in the show... :lol

My biggest problem with Shana (the show) is that if you asked me to describe every central character's personality in one sentence or more I wouldn't be able to do it. Well, except for Yoshida, which is unfortunate because she's the worst character in the show by several thousand light-years.

Unfortunate, because the premise was interesting, the story has some compelling elements, and the action is just downright fantastic, it's just that it's all tied together by precisely zilch.

I thought the action in Shana was horrible. It just looks flat and lacks energy.

I think I would've enjoyed Zero something something if Louise didn't exist. The dude didn't seem too bad--certainly not the doormat that Yuji was in Shana.
