Fall games without PS4 Pro enhancements

Well they announced the game with a bundle with just the slim, so yea. They seem to be promoting OG PS4 not Pro. Which is why you see 2 seconds of it in the sizzle reel at the PRO event.

There just rumors, but if they were having issues with their engine in general and getting it to run, and are not doing PC yet, then I would say PRO is coming via a later patch. Since FF XV is coming November, if patch isn't ready seeing how they are taking more time just to get stable frames on PS4, Pro patch most likely is late December rolling into 2017.
yeah, that's not a confirmation or indication of a Pro mode coming in 2017.

Don't type "according to Square Enix" when it's really just assumptions you've made.

FFXV Pro update comes at a much later date in 2017 according to Square Enix.

This seems highly unlikely considering FFXV comes out after the Pro launches (though Sony did give themselves and their partners some wiggle room by saying "virtually" all games that launch post-Pro release would have support).

The existence of a Pro version at launch is the only thing that might push me to get FFXV on console instead of waiting for the inevitable PC port.

EDIT:
FFXV Pro update comes at a much later date in 2017 according to Square Enix.

This is how misinformation spreads. Why not present the initial statement as a rumor rather than fact if you don't know for sure? All you had to say was "I think the Pro update will come at a much later date in 2017."

Tabata said they would fix far off vegetation in the distance before a Pro version was known. There's some very notable jaggies in the trailer which is the opposite of the Pro version impressions people got to see behind closed doors.

Gameblog impressions of XV Pro:

https://forum.finalfantasyxv.com/discussion/2587/tgs-trailer/p13
"For his the IQ is perfect and the draw distance is on another lvl , the PS4P pro version exploits the full potential of Luminous Engine .
He also says it is the best PS4P upgrade he has seen (maybe the only one truly worthwhile according to him ) ."

Gamergen impressions of XV Pro:

"What does FFXV PS4P bring to the table ? Well, in three words: it is MAGNIFICENT !
Between the demos we tested and gameplay videos we've seen so far, we can confirm, yes, this production will be much more flashy on the new Mister.S' hardware . Because the aliasing has almost disappeared and the clipping is better managed.
The environments are dense and alive, for once, the frame-rate (fps) seems to be constant when a number of decorative elements is displayed on the screen.
Optimization for a 4K picture, it brings several things. First, a sharpness in textures that literally explodes the retina. Everything is beautiful, everything is clean, it's breathtaking. Then the colors are dazzling and showy, in other words, it is masterful."

well...

Games that are confirmed to receive pro enhancements:

Call of Duty Infinite Warfare
Battlefield 1
Titanfall 2
Dishonored 2
Watch Dogs 2
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Deus Ex
Uncharted 4
Shadow of Mordor
Infamous Second Son and First Light
Paragon
The Witness
Days Gone
Final Fantasy 15
Horizon Zero Dawn
Killing Floor 2
Spiderman
Fifa 2017

I might have a missed a game or two.

Games hinted:

Ratchet and Clank
Gravity Rush 2

PES 2017

Are all the people saying it's mandatory still only going off the leak? Cause everything I've heard officially from Sony makes it sound like it isn't, but they're encouraging developers to support the Pro.

Absolutely fantastic to read. Except for that part about retina's "literally" exploding. :P

XV is the first FF game I've been excited for in a long while, and the technical shortcomings based on the demos and videos we've seen were a real bummer. Great to hear the Pro version is in such good shape.

It's a rumor with no real source but some of the quotes are taken from tabata's twitter so take ti with some salt I guess.

But seeing as no bundle but the slim is being teased with an actual Final Fantasy PS4 bundle I would assume they are trying to pump that more. Where have they been talking at TGS about PRO being at launch for the game to contradict my suspicion?

So you completely assumed all of this then?

It sounds like it's pretty much mandatory when the official FAQ posted by the PS Blog says

"Following PS4 Pro’s launch on November 10 in North America, virtually all new PS4 game releases moving forward will be able to take advantage of PS4 Pro capabilities on day one, or in some cases shortly after launch via a downloadable update."

That damned word 'virtually' makes everything iffy. Understandable though. Not every dev can do it probably.
?

Yeah, it looks like they may make exceptions for not requiring it on day 1/built in for devs having trouble (like smaller indie devs), the "virtually all" part is specifically talking about day 1 enhancements.

Did you click the link? No going by the rumor that is on that site.
The only thing that page says about Pro mode is about how tabata "once stated" that they will look into a ps4 pro mode. Nothing indicating they were having difficulty with it, or it's a far ways off/not being done in conjunction or it's coming in 2017.

The "it's coming in 2017 because the slim is bundled with FFXV and not Pro" is an assumption from you.

Again, just for the future, just be more careful. Don't write thing like "according to X" when "X" hasn't said anything on the matter, and you're saying something based off rumors mixed with assumptions of your own.

So all the bugs and issue they currently have with the build of the game you don't think would get completed first?

So all the bugs and issue they currently have with the build of the game you don't think would get completed first?
The Pro mode is just adjusting the visual fidelity of the game. They already are showcasing a Pro build of the game. It doesn't take many people to handle that mode. Yeah I don't think the bugs and issues will be done first and the Pro build handled later, all things seem to indicate they're working on the pro build alongside it at this point. Seeing as the architecture is basically the same, anything that improves in the standard build of the game will only help/improve the Pro build, it's not like making changes to iron out the bugs/issues is gonna mess up the work they've done for the Pro.

That FFXV rumor "story" likes to put words into people's mouths without actually quoting them. Yeah, I'm sure that's legit, especially when the same site runs this garbage.

If you're going to make statements of fact and then backtrack and say you're just repeating rumors, it might help to provide a source with even the slightest hint of credibility, ffs.

So all the bugs and issue they currently have with the build of the game you don't think would get completed first?

The point isn't what anyone thinks, it's the fact that you relayed a rumor/conjecture as factual information from an official source.

You may very well be proven right in the end, but that doesn't make reporting rumor as fact the right thing to do. Your post says that SquareEnix had explicitly stated that Pro support would be coming in 2017, but they didn't.

Not meaning to dog pile on you, just trying to illustrate the problem with your post.

Can we block that page :/?

so what does pro enhanced mean exactly besides playing in 4k?

That depends on the developer. Could be mean better framerate, better AA or just about any other visual of performance improvement to a game, There is no set guideline as to what developers have to do other than a minimum of 1080p and framerate equal or better than the OG PS4. For the example The Witness devs are talking about their Pro enhancements being 1440p and increased SMAA while Rise of the Tomb Raider has 3 different Pro modes.

Returning to the topic of the thread, are there any AAA releases out this fall that aren't confirmed for a Pro upgrade? Outside Mafia 3, of course, which I'll likely end up getting on PC as I'd like to play at 60fps.

Where did I state as fact? Said it was a rumor to take with salt? Hope I am right as the dig piling is showing the worst I gaf. I used common sense in knowing we have very little info on Pro mode outside of some random guy at TGS. All promos and recent bundle is for base PS4. I know it will have a pro preset but we don't know 100℅ if it's there at launch. Especially with how rough the game is currently.

Anything, its not just limited to checkerboard rendering or native 4K. You can use the power for better graphics, better framerates at any resolution a minimum of 1080p.

Enhanced just means whatever developers want to do to take advantage of the extra power of the unit.

Right here:

FFXV Pro update comes at a much later date in 2017 according to Square Enix.

And no, you didn't use common sense. You stated a fact that turned out to be bullshit, then backtracked with a rumor from some site that claims to have pictures of aliens on the moon. You then asked questions about development priorities that ignore the reality of the situation. You were caught talking out of your ass and you need to learn to take the L and move on.

Steep and South Park are the only two that come to mind (that aren't confirmed).

I took that square quote from the bullshit site dude. I just didn't Highlight as I'm on my phone and added the source once on my PC. How does that link have anything to do with what I said? I know it doesn't take much it's been shown in another thread. I was talking about how there very little talk or footage so far of Pro mode and seeing the bad state currently the overall game build on OG PS4 is they have to straighten that out and send out certs before sending the certs for pro mode which could cause it to not be 100℅ at launch. That's all I was saying and said yo take it with salt as it's just a bs rumor.

Your post history in recent thread is almost hyper bolic in the horizon TGS thread. No need to seriously pile on me.

cool. Just hyavent read anything about framerate upgrades and i was starting to get worried. Must have just missed em.

Just don't expect too many FPS upgrades, since the CPU is the same one as in the OG PS4, the games will have the same CPU bottlenecks in regards to FPS.

Which one? This?

Game director Hajime Tabata once stated that he and Square Enix will look into porting "Final Fantasy XV" into the new PS4 Pro as well as Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio console.

Because that's a really weak quote. That may have been an answer to a question that was asked before the official unveil, when Sony had acknowledged the existence of what was then called Neo, but hadn't announced any support for it. We don't even know how the question was phrased or any other part of the answer.

Your post history in recent thread is almost hyper bolic in the horizon TGS thread. No need to seriously pile on me.

And this is you know you're full of shit. What does this have to do with the fact that you tried to fill the thread with nonsense and can't recognize a shit source when you see one?

Which was why I said rumore and to take with salt as it was flaky. Also seeing as fps is what needs lots of attention in that game and pro according to previous poster may not yield higher frame rate it makes the video from the forum suspicious as someone at tgs was saying game was running on Pro there at like 40 something fps. Which would not make sense unless it was running on a PC or something?

I admitted it was a shit source? But you coming at me with hostility like ur a fucking mod was uncalled for.

One more and then I have to be done with this.

1) You stated this info as a fact

2) When called on it you said it's just a rumor and provided a bullshit source

3) You then appealed to common sense while ignoring the realities of the resources involved.

Admitting that your source is poor doesn't excuse the fact that you posted a poor source. I'm not a mod but I'm free to point out nonsense. I haven't asked you to leave or mentioned anything about a ban, so stop trying to act like a victim.

Where did I explain as fact? My first post is my fault for not saying rumor or quoting. But literally I was talking about that bullshit link. Just didn't add it till second post. Which was on my PC. Also there's been no talk outside of chatter at tgs and 2 seconds of video from a sizzle reel. I admitted in the wrong but then get jumped on for talking out of context. My mistake. But I didn't in this whole conversation sound hostile or like an ass yo others who corrected or at least added. You seriously came off hostile.

Where did I explain as fact?

My first post is my fault for not saying rumor or quoting.

That is indeed where the issue comes from. It's pretty simple. As I said earlier, all you had to do was say "I think that..." or "I've read rumors that..." instead of "according to SquareEnix," which implies official confirmation, and thus factual accuracy.

Hope this explains the issue with your post. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal, and not worth derailing the thread further.

I'll change it, I was on my phone and should have quoted from the shit source. Thanks for at least being civil. I'll see myself out as to not disrupt any further the conversation.

I always forget this is getting Pro support and it catches me off-guard with its weirdness every time I'm reminded.

I don't get this, why is it weird that a very popular game that even got some GOTY awards would get this upgrade?

This should be applauded, as it's obviously a gesture of good will seeing how unlikely this could result in a sales boost for the game.

Looked good in the footage too. I'm looking forward to jumping back in.

I reckon there might be a "Enhanced for Pro" section on the store front if you're rocking a PSPRO too. Any older patched games will be looking like a bargain compared to all the new releases in there.

Mordor was one of those games everyone on GAF loved when it first came out, but now it seems GAF has turned on it, lol. I still think the game is great and would like to check it out again when the update drops.

Wasn't Skyrim remastered confirmed as well? I know it was in the sizzle reel Sony played.

I wouldn't expect any Bethesda game to support it after that mess with mods. At least any game released before the Pro comes out (if it really is mandatory after the fact).

Didn't Sony say multiplayer (components in) games won't see benefits due to someone getting an advantage over non-pro users? Considering Destiny is 100% multiplayer I wouldn't expect too much.
