Fallout 4 - Male or Female protagonist (which will you choose?)

I really wanna do a female on one of these games eventually, but I always just end up going with a male. For some reason on games like Bethesda and Bioware titles I always feel like I'll relate to the game a bit less if I'm playing as a woman, I really wish I didn't feel that way though as I watched my wife play through Mass Effect as Fem Sheppard and I'm convinced that she's far superior to male Sheppard. As for me, I'll probably go male again. I'll just make the same character I always do; old, bald, mean looking, scarred up, slightly muscular bearded black guy.
I'm an average looking, long haired, relatively young (28), goofy looking, bearded white guy with zero scars....don't know why I make the character that I do but it's always basically the same character. Can't figure it out.

I always pick Female if given the choice. I am a man you see. If I want to see or hear or know what a man is thinking I can. That and digital lady bums are better to look at. I kid I kid. I like playing Female what can I say? I have a beard and fart loudly in real life so why not!

I'm pretty much set on female. I've gone dude in all previous Fallouts, Effects, Scrolls and what have you. While that's worked for me, it's about time to change things up.

It seems obvious to do a Furiosa type character and name her after Mad Max of Life Is Strange. I'll probably do that.

I like this reasoning.

Guys, I think the only person who can say your name is the butler robot. Even then he calls you Mister NAME. So calm down on thinking everyone can respond with your name.

I made a female, but couldn't get the back right. For some reason mid slim/mascular makes the ass pretty flat.

Does anybody have any tips on how to perfect my char's butt?

Can you make Furiosa in this game? How is the customisation?

My fallout 3 character was already like that(arm apart), well her face looked more like 80s Annie Lennox but i'm positive that a Furiosa-like character is possible in Fallout 4(and obviously my character will be female again)

So I've owned Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, and even Morrowind back in the day, but I never seem to be able to play much of them. If I played all of them as male characters, I may choose a female this time, but since I haven't, I'm choosing male protagonist for max immersion.

I'll end up playing as both eventually. Will probably pick female for the first run through. I find it easier to RP in rpgs when I'm the opposite sex. Otherwise all my male characters end up being just extensions of my own personality.

Male. If I have to stare at someone's ass for 200 hours I at least want 30 minutes of sexy face customisation as foreplay. A male burns victim with a scrappy beard and non-descript Ken doll body is better than a female burns victim with a bob haircut and Barbie's less busty sister body.

I don't know. I kinda feel like making a female character for once... But on the other hand I'd kinda like to hear that robot say my real name haha

I'd have gone with female this time but they had the male voice actor on a show at Gametrailers a while back, and I liked the dude - so I'll probably pick male.

I will be going female, yeah, i think it makes sense to play this game opposite to most games where you're forced to be a white male.

i'm going to make myself with a beard because i use video games to cope with my insatiable desire to grow a thick, full beard

I believe I'm going female first but sort of still riding the fence. They seem to lean toward the Lone Survivor being male with some things but Taylor just performs a bit better here to me. Delaney isn't bad at all but he comes off a bit too soft for my liking. I like playing as an smug asshole male and I'm not sure if I'll get that just yet. Taylor seems to ride that fine line of being cool and collected but can be a bit of a bad ass at the same time. At least from some of the gameplay I've watched.

This is sort of how I felt when I was choosing Shepards way back in Mass Effect. Mark Meer was fine but came across a bit emotionless sometimes whereas Jennifer Hale would inject a lot of fun and attitude. The latter sometimes too much but I enjoyed it all the same. Some of Meer's delivery of lines ended up being classics so he's still cool in my book. Just liked Hale better.

Wish they could get Justin Roiland to come and voice thousands of lines of dialogue so I can perfect my Rick Sanchez character. :)

Just actually confirmed it myself: Codsworth does NOT know how to say "Omar"

It can call you Bailey though if you're into that.

I normally go female in Fallout/Elder Scrolls but for Fallout 4 I'm going to base my character on me in both name and appearance... so male.

The thing is, if you're the kind of person bothered by logical inconsistency then it would make more sense to make a male character since he is a military veteran, so it would not be far fetched for him to know how to handle guns, kill people, surviving, that kind of thing. The female character in the meanwhile is a law graduate... how is she then immediately capable of blowing people's heads off after the vault?
