Fallout: New Vegas is Gold and PC System Requirements

Aye, I don't know how they've managed it, but it looks noticably worse than fallout 3 in every video I've seen. It reminds me of the outdoor scenes of the original half life. I'm sure it'll still be a lot of fun, mind. Just not stop-and-gawk like some parts of f3.

Just traded in Metal Gear Solid 4, Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds and Grand Theft Auto 4 towards this. Feels good man.

hardcore mode lol, Fallout Wanderers Edition Mod for Fallout 3 (no doubt what inspired this mode, along with primary needs mod) had you dying in 1 or 2 shots depending on where you got hit, or rads in submerged water at like 80 rads a second, now thats hardcore! :lol

Played it, loved it. FWE is the definitive version of Fallout 3. It is like the vanilla game should have been.

The Wasteland is suposed to be deadly and scary.

I played F3 on easy and had a rough time until level 10 or so.

I must really suck at it. :lol After 100 hours hopefully I'll be ready to bump up the difficulty in this game a bit!

I played like this:
Lvl 1-10: Easy
Lvl 10-20: Normal
Lvl 20-30: Hard
Every game needs on-the-fly difficulty change. EVERY ONE. I'm gonna specialize in melee, medicine, and speech for my first playthrough. Heal people, talk to people, or bash em in the head!

I bumped it up to normal once I hit 15 or so, I think. Felt pretty strong by then.

To be honest, I don't want to die a lot in any game these days, but especially not one I'm investing over 50 hours into. It's a big enough timesink without replaying sections over and over.

I sound so old. I'm only 19. :lol

The thing that sucked about Fallout 3's difficulty modes is that it just allowed enemies to soak more damage. More experience was good but cheesy nonetheless.

works just fine :p

Have played my last playthrough with Fook2, and going to do one more with FWE I have all set up I just need to free some time :p

no, just no. But you die quick.

and 20 rads/sec being in water

edit: also you can customize it, if you find it too hard.

I guess that makes sense, as it needs to be enabled from start to finish to obtain the achievement/trophy.

I think I'll be rocking hardcore mode on normal for my first play through.
No it makes absolutely no sense, disable the achievement sure but don't force me into easy mode because I made an error in managing my kit and got myself into a bad patch of land. They already said they're using tougher enemies to direct you through the experience it's entirely possible you will get fucked and need to carry a few extra guns with little ammo.

Help me out (I'm a Mac and PS3 gamer, so this is new to me). What does that mean, exactly in terms of making sure that the PS3 version isn't terrible?

I can't seem to find the post you're quoting, so I'm unsure of the context. However, if you're a Mac/PS3 gamer, then the game being Steamworks is meaningless for you. All it means is that retail PC copies of the game will activate and be linked to your Steam account and make use of Steam's numerous nice features. It does nothing to speak of the port quality on the 360/PS3.

Holy crap. Is that store legit? I'm about to do a whole lot of game buying in that case. So cheap...how is that possible? (Even cheaper than $US prices.
It's legit. It's based in the UK and is basically a reskinned http://www.365games.co.uk/ aimed at the Australian market, so you still have to wait a week or two for shipping. Games have been cheaper to import from the UK for years now, this isn't a new thing.

Played FO3 on 360 and decided to go the PC route this time around for the possibility of mods, higher textures, etc. Does anyone know if it was possible in FO3 to edit the radio song selection manually? Or if any FO3 mods will work with New Vegas right away?

I doubt it but I figure it's worth checking!

I think I'll play it normal for the first play though and then try out hardcore mode for the second. I don't know if I could stand the extra stress from ammo having weight the first time though :lol

The mod Galaxy News Radio - More Where That Came From lets you manually edit the pool of radio songs and add new songs. If you are talking about switching songs on the fly while playing the game, then I don't know.

I think it's doubtful that they will work with it out of the box; the FO3 patches themselves frequently broke mod support. However I would be surprised if it took very long for the mods to be updated for New Vegas.

Makes sense though. Being able to stroll around the wasteland with a bunch of nuclear bombs sorta takes away from the experience. Then again, it'll probably make my favorite way of killing people less viable, dropping mines and grenades into an enemy's inventory so they blow up.

Murder by planting bombs is basically a Fallout tradition.

This was just what I was looking for! No need to swap on the fly, I'm more interested in making a mix of FO3 songs, New Vegas songs and other similar songs I found after really digging FO3's music and needing more :)

Actually that gives me a thought.. it'd be great to get a bunch of people's recommendations for FO3-esque music people have found (as in specific songs not just an artist).

I do hope that there are "more" soundtracks this time around. I loved the selection in Fallout 3 (an introduction to 1920's like no other esp. with Billie Holiday and Ink spots).

Lately, I have been wondering about the new weapons. After seeing the M16 (or was it the M4) I was really intrigued by how it came into existence since after the war, BoS and Outcast both started scavenging tech but not evolving it. I can understand evolution of weapons in normal world but how does it take place in war torn society? Has there any rational explanation for it?
