Fallout: Please help me get the Power Armor

Alright, there are three ways to get the Power Armor, or optionally the Motivator to fix the broken set:

1. Persuade the armory guard to give it to you.
2. Steal it from Rhombus's locker.
3. Save a Brother in The Hub, then choose Power Armor as a reward.

These are my problems:

1. I didn't have the Charisma to get in.
2. Rhombus catches me looking into his locker, and I drop the Motivator.
3. I saved the Brother, and though I have read I should have the Armor available, it isn't an option.

Number 2 is REALLY a pain - I don't know why I drop it when my stats are all pretty good, except for charisma. Number 3 is just confusing.

Someone help me out?

there was a patch for fallout, but I don't think it fixed this issue. You may want to try it just in case it helps at all.

No I just picked the lock to the Brotherhood's stronghold.

OK now I understand.

You need to meet with the Brotherhood and try to become a member. They'll send you off on a little sortie to the Great Radioactive Hole of Doom. This mission is impossible unless you take the anti-radioactive medicene before entering. Get to the bottom and get the thingie they want and they'll give you power armour in return. Or rather, you can take it from the locker PLUS all sorts of wonderful things they'll buff you with.

It's both blessing and curse.

Anyway make sure you take that radioactive medicene about 6 hours before entering the Great Radioactive Hole of Doom. Otherwise you're toast. You've gotta take it again while still in there (before the original dose wears off). There's some REALLY AWESOME stuff down there and it is a breakthrough in regards to plot.

Figured out why I couldn't get the Motivator from Rhombus's locker. My Sneak rating wasn't high enough. You have to Sneak as you open the locker, and it won't creak, but it has to be rather high.

The Glow had nothing to do with anything, but it was a pretty cool area.

Holy Jeebus Dragona, that's some freaking amazing memory you've got there. I came into this thread looking for nostalgia and mision accomplished.

I barely remember how to get the armor I come here read Dragonas post and bam I remember everything. This is one of the best pc gaming experience I've had and Baldurs Gate.

So thank you for making me relieve this amazing game. I may even fire up one of the five copies I have LOL. Well I'm glad you are playing Fallout and I cant wait for the new one to come.

Alternate solution since you already picked the lock:

You need to save your game for two reasons. First of all, you should
only raise your Lockpick skill to the minimum necessary to get through the
door. For me it was 65% and I needed a few tries to get in, but if you have
higher luck or other stats it may be less. You can't afford to spend a lot
of skill points on one skill to the detriment of others. Secondly,
sometimes the Electronic Lockpicks break, at which point you will have to
reload and try again.

You should be able to pick the door and get inside the Brotherhood, bypass-
ing the sidequest that is normally required.

Now head to the elevator in the southwest of the screen. Go to the third
floor and talk to Kyle in the repair room. He will tell you he needs a
Systolic Motivator in order to fix some Power Armor, and that you can have
the armor if you get the part. Head back to the first floor and talk to
Michael, the man at the desk near the Training Room. Tell him "it will be
my ass" if you don't get a Systolic Motivator (you may have to talk to him
twice before getting the dialogue about the Systolic Motivator). He will
reluctantly give you one. Head back to Kyle and give him the part. In
return, he will give you a Dean's Electronics repair manual. Read the
manual (reading uses 3-4 hours depending on your character's stats). Your
Repair skill should have gone up a few percent, depending on how high it was
before reading the manual. Save your game.

Now use some skill points to raise your Repair skill to around 58% (for you
it may be more or less). Use the minimum skill necessary. Reload your game
and try lower and lower numbers to save on skill points. Anyway, using the
Repair skill on the Power Armor Parts on the table in front of Kyle will fix
them into a complete suit which will appear on the ground. The armor weighs
85 pounds so you may need to empty your inventory to pick it up. Equip the
armor and watch your Armor Class soar! Now your Strength goes up by 3
points and you can carry more weight than before.

Got this from the 88 days faq on Gamefaqs. I did it once, doesn't take too inordinately long.
