Family Guy - this show is NOT FUNNY

I've noticed that many of the defenders use tired memes as a means of defending the show, note the epic fail picture above.

Coincidence?

There were some funny jokes tonight. However, like always there are random jokes that are either so dumb I'm left wondering who approved that? Or, the patented carry the joke so much longer than necessary that its no longer funny jokes. The micheal jackson gag and stewie as a reporter are examples of both.

This show wasn't the same when it came back to the air.
:lol

That can't be real... or can it. :o

So let me get this right, you are formulating an opinion on a show you never watched and you base you opinion off a 30sec promo??

Do I have that about right??

That image is about as funny as Family Guy.

I guess the people posting :lol :lol :lol in the thread every week have wrong opinions then.

Oh well!

People who like the show are a lot more likely to post in your thread than people who hate/don't care about it.

I watch it from time to time, just in case it becomes funny again but it still sucks. Strangely enough, I like American Dad. Comparing the two shows how badly FG's flashback jokes just sidetrack the whole show. But the worst thing about FG is how predictable it is when it's not being completely random.

Well, someone needs to point out the factual incorrectness of the thread title, no?

But really, the show has gotten a lot better from when it came back. It's funny seeing people in the Sunday night threads laughing at the show every week, then there's more people hating on it.

The show is still funny. Oh, and so is American Dad.
It's like you're getting crazy as time goes on. Reminds about that one time when we were all posting in a thread and suddenly people started spamming out pics of Gary Coleman doing drugs!

.....

I guess there really are more ignorant people here than i thought. King of the Hill is easily the best animated show on FOX. And consistently better than most live action sitcoms.

Last weeks KOTH was brilliant, havent had a chance to watch this weeks.

Just saw a promo for Family Guy on Fox, a show I never watch because it is about as funny as coming home to discover your dog accidentally ate a chicken bone and died. But I was amused to hear this joke:

Dad character: "Do you want a Hertz Donut?"
Other character: "Yes."
(Dad punches other character in arm.)
Dad: "Hurts, don't it?"

Wow. I wonder if the writers are now simply assuming that the majority of their audience is too young to realize that they are now recycling Simpsons gags from more than a decade ago.

(And yes, I know the 'hurts don't it' thing was not originated by the Simpsons, but the fact that this tired gag was deemed promo-worthy of Fox is a perfect example of why I and everyone else I know thinks this show is drek.)

It's supposed to be post-ironic sophmoric. Tell you what, let me do the jokes for Akira.

This is true. King of the Hill is terrible. But get ready for GAFfers to act like you're insane for not liking a show most of the outside would could give two shits about.

Yes, they could give several shits about it. I guess that's why it went on for so long!

I'm not a big fan of that show, but it lasted a long ass time and Fox is quick to cancel/move around stuff that they don't think draws enough people.

<FG Fan> WE LOVE FAMILY GUY AND PLENTY OF OTHER PEOPLE LOVE IT! LET US HAVE AN OPINION! LET US EXIST!
<KOTH fan> No, your show sucks! Go watch KOTH!
<FG Fan> That show is horrible! No one ever loved it and it should never have existed! All your opinions are wrong! Die already!

It's a vicious cycle.

Can we turn this thread into an abortion debate?

i don't hate king of the hill, i have just never found it funny. i honestly don't care enough about it to start a thread saying the show sucks. im not sure why people like it but it obviously has appeal to some as its been on the air for 10 years or whatever. i've seen maybe 10 complete episodes of KOTH in my life (for various reasons), and i dont think ive laughed once.

but that is why a variety of shows on TV is awesome!

There are worse things to laugh at than Family Guy. Mark me down as one of the people that realizes that it's horribly formulaic, not very intelligent, and extremely derivative, but still watches it when it's on because, well, it makes me laugh sometimes.

Sue me.

Um, I think the episodes are meh alot of the time. Road to Germany was the only really good one this season.

American Dad is a much better show.

(He was talking about you liking American Dad. Not Family Guy.)

The new episodes of Family Guy are funnier than the new episodes of The Simpsons - do we have to have a different story for how marge and homer met for the billionth time?

I honestly stopped watching The Simpsons because it just wasn't the same Simpsons I loved years ago.

I actually laughed at that joke just reading the post.

Indeed. Many things in this thread that have been asserted about Family Guy could be applied to The Simpsons as well. What was once the best show on television is now a decayed shell of its former self. The worst thing is that there hasn't been a great episode of The Simpsons in about eight years. Put this show out of its misery before it gets even worse, please.

Can't agree that KotH sucks... but your avatar is pretty damn cool so I'll let it slide :D

Yep, this shit was never funny and I'm appalled that this keeps getting renewed when Futurama, Firefly, and Journeyman all go to rot.

Fuckin' Seth Macfarlane.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Seth MacFarlane is a fucking HACK.

It's nice having threads like this around so we can round up the folks with poor taste and point and laugh at them as they try to defend the pitiful drivel they love.

I haven't really seen the most recent ones but I saw one a few weeks ago and it was okay. It was funny merely because of the complete randomness of it all; they no longer bother to attach any semblance of a storyline so it is essentially a 30 minute robot chicken.
