fanboygirl-GAF: Have you ever bought a console for one specific game?

DS (fat) for Trauma Center
Wii for Trauma Center

I upgrade my PC everytime it can't play a PC game I NEED to play. Does that count too?

PSP - Lumines

thinking about a 360 just for REZ

I bought a DS for Metroid Prime: Hunters. Hunters was underwhelming, but I did get to play the wondrous Zero Mission and Fusion, which more than made up for it.

I bought a Gamecube for Metroid Prime and will eventually buy a Wii for Metroid Prime 3.

ps2- THUG 1 (bought it before I got the system)
wii - brawl
xbox - Halo 2/Counter-Strike
Xbox 360 - Halo3/OrangeBox

Dreamcast - Soul Calibur
Playstation - Final Fantasy VII
Saturn - Panzer Dragoon Saga
Jaguar - Tempest 2000

Saturn for Panzer Dragoon

SNES for Super Mario World

PS3 for whatever team-ICO has worked up

360 for Dead Rising and Chromehounds

GameCube for Pikmin and Rogue Squadron

Wii for Zelda TP

PSP for Twisted Metal

Anything that catches my attention the most: Zeldas, Metroids, Marios, Final Fantasies etc....

Consoles-Age:

NES - Super Mario Bros. (bundled with) >>> SMB 2 >>> SMB 3

SNES - Super Mario World (bundled with) >>>> The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Genesis - Sonic the Hedgehog 2

N64 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Majora's Mask

NGC - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker / Twilight Princess

PS Two (slim) - God of War or SOTC ..... can't remember which.

Wii - No games at the moment.

^waiting period (price drop): Metroid Prime 3: Corruptions

Handhelds-Age:

GB (1989) - Tetris (bundled with) >>> Super Mario Land

Game Gear - replaced sonic the hedgehog with NBA Jam at the cashier

GBA (original/ red: TARGET exclusive) - The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past / Four Swords

NDS:L - Final Fantasy III >>>> The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

well, the 2600 i got it as a present when i was a kid. then after that it was always a game pushing me to buy a console.

first a genesis for super monaco GP II, then a saturn for daytona USA and then i stumbled with a huge story for Gran Turismo on EGM. then i bought a ps one for GT1, a ps2 for GT4 and now a PS3 for GT5.

but i did meet a lot of incrdible games in those systems, besides de "console selling" games

I'm not sure if this counts but i'll buy a PS3 or a 360 for RockBand. Just waiting to see what the next Ps3 SKU is. If the wii version comes out before we get word of the next ps3 sku/price, i'll just get it on that.

Bought a 360 for lost planet. not the most wise decision. Hardly play the system and game anymore.

Dreamcast for JSR (Jpn version) glad I bought a dreamcast. Bought Soul Calibur and feel in love.

PS2 for MGS2, not just for the game, I got bored with MGS2 and while in Akihabara I stumbled into a used game store and bought Devil May Cry.

EDIT: PS1 for Final Fantasy VII, how can I forgot this one. I actually bought the game first then the system.....then a memory card when i could not save.

so worth it.
Same here. That and Killzone Liberation.

Also picked up a PS2 when WE11 came out a few years back. PS3 will
hopefully
be mine whenever LBP drops.

Dreamcast: Resident Evil: Code Veronica
PS2: Metal Gear Solid 2
Xbox 360: Gears of War
PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4

Bought a 360 for lost planet. WORST DECISION EVER. Hardly play the system and game anymore.

Dreamcast for JSR (Jpn version) BEST DECISION EVER. Bought Soul Calibur and feel in love.

PS2 for MGS2 BEST DECISION EVER, not just for the game, I got bored with MGS2 and while in Akihabara I stumbled into a used game store and bought Devil May Cry. BEST DECISION EVA.:D

How can you have multiple best decisions ever?

I brought a launch 360 because of pgr3, and I was also looking foward to DoA4 that got delayed by a few months.

With my other consoles I think I just brought or asked for it as a present, with the DC I asked for Sonic Adventure and for PS1 I asked for Resident Evil but with my other consoles I was given what I got, and those were some stellar games too :D

Super Nintendo: Super Mario World
Playstation: Final Fantasy VII/Metal Gear Solid
Playstation 2: Final Fantasy X/Metal Gear Solid 2
Game Boy: Link's Awakening
Game Boy Color: Metal Gear Solid
GBA: Legend of Zelda: The Minnish Cap
DS: Trauma Center
PSP: Dracula X Chronicles (but the first game I bought for it was Portable Ops)
Playstation 3: Metal Gear Solid 4
Wii: Twilight Princess
Dreamcast: Jet Grind Radio

Well i ended up having much fun with my dreamcast and PS2. At first i was not going to buy either system, but on a fly i bought it for one game and it ended up to be a good investment of gaming. I regret buying the 360.

Ok, so they turned out to be very good decisions and you are very enthusiastic. :D

PS2 for Metal Gear Solid 2. Actually bought the game before the system. :D

Edit: Wow looks like im not the only one.

PS for FFVII (even though I already played it on the PC)

Would have bought a PS2 for FFX if the bf didn't already have one.

I got an Xbox just for Halo 2. The bad thing was that the 360 was coming out the next year, so the Xbox didn't last long.

N64: Super Mario 64
PS1: Tomb Raider
Dreamcast: RE: Code Veronica
XBox: Halo
Gamecube: Mario Sunshine
PS2: no game, I just needed a DVD player and figured I'd get the console to go with it
Wii: Zelda and the promise of Galaxy
360: Oblivion

and in the near future
PS3: LBP

Sunshine was the only one that let me down. Maybe some day I'll give it a second chance. Maybe.

Rezbox 360.

'Nuff said.

Best decision ever. Eyes&Ears meltification due to awesome overload.

Initially I was more leaning towards owning a PS3, with no concrete purchasing plans at all. I was and still am entirely content with my Wii. Then the Rez announcement came...

Just now I wanted to play it again, only the DRM is claiming I do not own any Arcade games at all. The counter goes up and then goes down again. If this problem persists tomorrow my 360 will be the first manmade object to reach Sirius B. Arrrh. Bed now.

Pretty much every console and computer I own or have ever owned was because of one game that got me to buy. In fact it would be easier for me to list consoles I didn't buy because there has / hasn't been a game I desperately wanted yet:

N64: The one game never showed up.

XBOX 1: Same as above.

PS3: Still hasn't happened yet.

Mostly not. The DS sold me right from the Metriod Prime Hunters demo though, but even that was coupled with the knowing that future games would come and GBA backwards compatibility.

Funnily enough I hated the full Hunters game

360 for Blue Dragon. Ironically enough, Halo 3 came out shortly thereafter and I haven't played more than 45 minutes of BD. It didn't really capture my attention enough to want to return to it (ended up playing Mass Effect, Halo3 and CoD4 instead)

PS3 for Metal Gear.
Gamecube for Zelda.
Xbox for Splinter Cell, although much less fanboy fueled than the 2 above, and more that it was the excuse to get one.
