Far Cry 5 keyart revealed

I don't think you understand what the Gadsden flag is.

They might, but if you live in the south that plate is usually associated with tea party members and gun nuts. The further inland I go in VA the more I see that plate and most of the time there is a confederate flag sticker on the same vehicle.

I was hoping they'd take the game in a new direction with a different setting, but I didn't expect that. I'm really looking forward to it, and hope they manage to tap in the right amount of True Detective & Justified.

Very curious to see what background the protagonist has, and if they have a personality or are used more as a vessel for the player.

Why do you people think

A) The enemies in this game are trump voters?

and

B) Trump voters will hate this game?

The average American that is a Trump voter despises religious nutjobs just as much as you do, and if you equate the antagonists in this game to your average christian trump supporter you are absolutely delusional.

Hell just look at how well Justified did? Was pretty much a show about a white guy taking on fucked up skin head rednecks.

My brothers are both Trump voters and they will be all over this game.

You are basically going up against the Super Westboro Baptist Church in this game, or some crazy ass doomsday cult. Is that how you see everyone across the isle from you?

I didn't think I'd be interested in the game until I saw this art.
What an exciting premise, I hope they do something cool with it.

I feel like you guys are giving "the MAGA crowd" way too much credit if you think they're going to be offended by any of this. Most of this will fly way over their heads and they'll just be enjoying the southern-themed shooter they've always wanted.

Though the irony of it being developed by a bunch of French guys is pretty hilarious.
I don't know why you would think this. It's very obviously going to be disdainful of that culture.

I actually heard a rumor the protagonist is a fictional former first lady running for President, whose plane is unexpectedly shot down while passing above "flyover country" during the campaign.

0/10 not enough partisanship.

Also I am totally in on this game. If the idea is done right, the premise of taking down a Christian-oriented religious cult sounds awesome. Setting is also obviously super unique.

I don't hate Christianity (was raised Catholic), didn't vote for Trump

the narrative justification of a far cry game in the US needs to be iron clad.

for the life of me I cant think of any scenario that the internet or a call to 911 or to the fbi would resolve any conflicts the protag and a cult would have in (assuming) modern day america.

But I dont write videogames for a living. So lets see. autiosly optimistic, after loving Far cry 3 and slogging throught 4.

Whew boy, make the main character a minority and start going off against the far right trump supporting mentals and see how soon Hannity loses his shit...Popcorn.gif

Also ubi going no1 globally confirmed.

People are acting like having right wing extremists be your bad guy is a bold new change but far cry primal had a bunch of right wing extremists in it.

Have you ever been to Montana? Take away a persons cell phone and help could be days away.

it's a video game. there's your justification.

if that's not enough. Oregon militia. they chilled for 40-odd days before leaving. not wild to think the story in this game won't last that long.

r/the_donald flies off the handle for any and everything. Some folks are gonna be pissed. His base is incredibly fragile.

If you think a large portion of Trump supporters aren't religious nutjobs, you're absolutely delusional.

Cuz it's POS and horrible key art.

I think it looks pretty good. =o
I could see a nice setting and story being delivered here... specially after knowing you control a sheriff, as I read somewhere in this thread. Could be interesting, if they refresh the gameplay formula enough.

But I'm not really trying to connect any political spectrum within it, cause for me far right wing or far left wing is the same shit.

WRT the main character, if past Far Crys are anything to go on, it's probably that guy with "Sinner" on his back. So, looks like a white guy to me? If the rumours are true, you're probably a sheriff investigating someone who's gone missing or somethin'.

What? Literally only on one Far Cry cover features the protagonist - the first one. Every other cover features the villain.

Blood Dragon does too i guess but that's an outlier

Idk... I'm kind of just expecting the same game and story formula except there are larger open mostly flat spaces between the points of interest.

We also have a game where North Korea invades the US. Also the Divisions setting didn't make much sense either.
Who cares. I'd rather have a fun and interesting setting that might make no sense than a "realistic" one we've seen a billion times.

Personally I kind of doubt this will directly target Trump and his supporters. Groups like this have existed long before Trump entering politics. Religious, anti-government, armed cult? That's like murica 101.

So many people are going to be triggered by this game. I can't wait for it.

I think it being in a first world, non-tropical country is a pretty big deviation from every other Far Cry game. Let's just hope they leverage that in gameplay terms.

Obviously not all Trump voters are Westboro nuts.

But they're Trump voters.

Yup. I think if you get any white american president and put it there, it would give the same "effect". I don't think they intended to target Trump or whatever... people are looking too much into it, if they think it was.
