Far Cry Instincts Predator is really f******* sh*tty.

I decided to go ahead and get this when I ordered Tomb Raider Legend (Asian versions; $40 each), and so far, the controls seem fine to me. It did seem difficult to get a headshot at times, however; in fact sometimes it seemed downright impossible, as if the game wouldn't recognize it.

Instincts Seems like a better version of Farcry on the PC (which I only got about halfway through), and I like the added trap elements. Haven't seen anything else yet; looking forward to trying out the multiplayer and map editor. Right now, at least, it seems like it was worth the $40.

yep, I noticed this too...

I as well. Everyone I know who has played this game has hated the 1/2 second delay between input and seeing results on the screen.

It's blatantly obvious, and a total deal-breaker as far as the game goes. It's mind-boggling that no review I have ever read has mentioned this.

I think Microsoft paid Gamespot and IGN.
Gamespot score: 7.9 - Good
IGN: 8.3 - Impressive

I got this game 2 weeks ago and still haven't progressed much, mostly in the case.

Wow a thread resurrect.

My opinion changed a bit after sinking my teeth into it and grasping the play styles. And yeah, for the record, the game got much, much better with the new "abilities". It redeemed itself in many ways, and made the game a bit more fun.

Local multiplayer is a load of fun, and definitely more enjoyable than PD0 - it's not GRAW, but it's a lot of fun and the vehicles and modes are cool to play with. Online was a messy lagfest, local was awesome.

After messing around with it for 20 hours or so, I'd have to give this one a solid "slightly better than average" score. It's still not "$69.99" good, but if you can find it for a bit cheaper I say jump on it, as it's a great game to load up when your buddies are over. (especially if they are too retarded to grasp GRAW controls)

i got this game off a friend today, and i didnt expect much. but wow, the gfx are really nice, not GRAW nice but definetly looks better than in screens, and runs at a really nice pace. and im loving the gameso far, i played a fair bit of it on xbox but its so much easier to see in 720p native with AA. but yeah, even tho i didnt pay for playing the game, i am going to buy it when i have to return it :)

I just rented this game today, what the **** did UBI do to the controls? This is easily the worst controls I have personally played for any FPS game. So damn floaty. I played the demo on XBox and don't remember the aim being this shoddy. What a piece of shit.

the basics controlls are fine, its just really difficult to accuratly hit people in the right places. but it doesnt matter, its all about the map making !!

a few of my friends have picked this up, and weve all just been making maps, and lots of them :P

there is some weird stuff too, race tracks, a weird sport game that involves throwing the samples around, off road hill climbs...plus normal style maps that look like a Tribes map, or something.

MAP MAKING ! WOOO !!!

..they better have a map maker in Halo 3 (not because i like halo, but becuase sooooo many people will buy it, there is bound to be some awesome player created maps )

Did you play PDZ?

man, did YOU? PDZ has some odd controls, but if you actualy TRY to get used to it, then it becomes very accurate and easy to use.

im friggen sick of people bashing PDZs controlls, no it doesnt play like Halo, but if you actualy TRY to play it, then the controlls are just fine...if your gonna troll PDZ, at least make fun of the part of it that actualy isnt very good, the Single Player.

The 360 version was obviously a piss poor job... if done right on a new spank'n engine, the 360 version should of looked loads better then FC PC. I think the pc version rocks the best..by far.

Here's an example of how shitty this game is: it has a Cheats menu, and there is NO Godmode cheat. What the **** is up with that?

I'm really disappointed with the game too.

After the first few levels, the graphics get shitty. The only real enhancement is the water and the framerate, everything else is just Xbox models and textures rendered at 720p. Blurry textures and polygon seams abound.

The control is frustrating as hell, the AI is stupid, and the damn game gives me a bunch of Dirty Disc errors (the latest one corrupted my nearly complete save file too...guess what game is going to get traded back tomorrow?)

I played both Instincts and PDZ. Far Cry has bad controls, PDZ is worse. I was responding to the post saying Far Cry controls were the worst for an FPS, I disagreed and offered an example.

Turn off the aim & bullet assist and then get back to me. It's like they knew it sucked so they gave you two different ways to ease the pain.

PDZ has bad controls, but you can get used to 'em. Far Cry's is horrible.

Okay, riddle me this: FCIP or Pariah? Because my friends and I are really looking for a decent map editor for some multiplayer. And a decent single player wouldn't be so bad after all.

Had either of these games received glowing reviews, I wouldn't even be asking this question.

You're example is wrong. PDZ has much better sensitivity options.

Don't get FCIP unless you want to play the worst controlling FPS ever. You've been warned.

The controls are not great and were not as bad on the Xbox version. The prone crouch stand is all screwed up and not easy to go between them. The aiming is rougher and the bullets don't do as much damage as they did on the Xbox version.

The graphics are way better though especially the best water shader in a game thus far. The vehicles are especially well done and the map editor is brilliant. Just drop a few vehicles and structures down in the editor and it is pretty easy to see that they did put some solid work into this game. The LOD distance on all the props is quite a bit farther as well.

I do wish that they went the extra mile and got the controls to where they were before, how they skimped on that I'll never know.

Between Pariah (which was a fun enough game to play but far from a great FPS) and Far Cry I'd pick Far Cry, the Map Editor can't be beat.

i just got this game from gamefly an hour ago. after an hour of playing it i'm not sure why people hate this game. the controls were a little awkward at first (i guess too loose would be how i describe them), but reading impressions here you would think this is the worst FPS of all-time or something. the graphics are pretty nice and this is the first FPS i've played that is set in the jungle. gives me a "Predator" (the movie) feeling.

anyhow maybe it's because i haven't played it enough but so far i give it the thumbs up.

welp just about finished with the first game on the disk and i have to say gaf was horribly wrong. i think the game is great. great atmosphere and pacing. the graphics are so-so. while the water looks good, everything else looks average. is the first game just a port of the xbox game and the 2nd one built from the 360? either way it looks just ok. controls have been good throughout.

i don't think the game would be worth $60, but it would be worth $30-40. thumbs... UP!

I borrowed this one from work, played for like 1 hour then vowed never to waste another minute of my life playing this garbage. It has some of the worst enemy ai I've ever seen.

This arrived on my doorstep from Screenselect (rental website) a few days ago and I haven't tried it out yet, I don't think I'm even going to bother. Free return postage ftw!

I thought this game was awful at first, i swear it got alot of good impressions for the original Xbox version. I played it for an hour then shelved it.

Got back into it a couple of months later when i was bored, the game didnt really improve as such, all the issues with it were still there but overall i played through both Instincts and the Evolution mode and enjoyed it overall.

I like the game a lot. I just hate the aiming and shooting.

For some reason I gave this game another chance, and tried my best to get used to the aiming. It still sucks but I kinda got used to it, I remember why I loved the XBox version so much, The single player story and dialogue are cool. I beat the Instincts and I'm now working on the Predator storyline. If Ubi would just fix the damn controls I'd say grab this game in the bargin bin. Also, word of mouth has killed this game because besides myself and a few pals hardly anyone is playing this game online. That's truly a shame because I had loads of fun with the XBox version online. The XBox360 version has an improved map editor, and this alone is what makes the game worth purchase (unlike Pariah), but the control kills it. Why Ubisoft had to go in and ruin the control is beyond any sense of logic. I loved this game on Xbox, and the 360 version has some improvements, but it's hard to get excited becuase the XBox version was so good (hence Burnout Revenge & NFS:MW).

I just hope that more developers emulate what the XBox Far Cry team did in terms of multiplayer and map editing. If Epic or Bungie did something like this for a XBox360 FPS that would be something to get excited about. Some of the user created maps for the XBox version were truly works of art.

Check out one of the first maps by Blkdog from the Video Game Outsider podcast fame (via the Zerocommit.com forums):

That is why this game makes me weap.........

I just got one question, did all the great Map Makers for Xbox 1 Farcry:instints, go onto this version,(think Hurricane Wilky) if so this is a buy just for the custom Live maps
