Favorite Anime Trope?

Fellow Gaffers.

Whats your favorite anime trope?

I really like the characters in Battle Shounen who have their eyes closed most of the time, but when they open it, shit is about to go down.

Excessive amounts of missiles.

Calling out another trope. "Everything you just said makes no sense."

transformation/combining sequences

Saying the names of their special attacks while doing them.

This.

Alternatively, battle cries.

CHESSSSSSSSSUTO!
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUWAAAAAAAA!
YAAAAAAAAAATTE YARU ZE!
MOU IPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATSU!

I have a few but an obscure one I've always loved in anime is when they want to show intense light from an energy explosion, they make everything around the focal point dim to darkness. I find the technique so badass and while its more of a technique than a trope, its certainly part of the anime trope of trying to find interesting way to express difference in power whether its numerically or visually - something I'm quite fond of.

Petting, patting, punching the person's head.

Tsundere shit with the typical stutter speak stuff is also super adorable.

The fool who no one takes seriously and suddenly, that characters shows his/her real powers and takes the enemy and allies by surprise.

Some examples are Urahara or Isshin in Bleach. Hei from Darker than Black too, but we as the audience, know very well how awesome he is.

Overpowered main character suddenly turns the tables thanks to Power of Friendship

Or the Heart of the Cards.

The tropes generally make me cringe... I guess one fun one is how no matter what's going on, there's a dialogue dissecting the physics of a punch or even things far more mundane.

Excessive amounts of missiles.

Related, but the Itano Circus as well.

Just looked it up but apparently Itano Circus is just a massive glut of missiles, I thought it included the high speed missile dodging that usually comes immediately after.

i like it when the camera just goes around to different characters as they each stare astonished at something while making moany grunt noises

Hyper-exaggerated action scenes with dramatic perspective - Kill la Kill, One Punch Man, etc

Eccentric Geniuses - L, Johan Liebert, etc

"those two guys", the classic trope of 2 secondary or background characters having an epic bromance.

Doesn't have to be specifically two actual guys, just two characters that are always hanging out.

not really an anime trope, but i love the manzai style of humor we find in a lot of anime, especially gintama!

also hyper exagerated facial expressions :

And one last thing, animating a scene like in a manga, black and white

When thousands of tanks and cannons are shooting millions of shells on a threat but it is useless af. Like Evangelion.

Excessive amounts of missiles.
Probably a reason I enjoyed Starship Operators (the only anime I know where they do (space) war using reality TV as a source of funding, and thus can only use a lot of missiles if the producer feels the result on TV will worth it :D )
