Favorite game for each Big 3 current gen console and why?

Gamer79

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
This post is applying to the non fanboys who actually play games on more than one platform. My List

Nintendo Switch pick:

This pick maybe the most technically impressive games of this generation. The game is simply beautiful and holds up to any current generation game. Despite the fact the game is developed on hardware that is much weaker than the other 2 and it can be played handheld. This Massive game ranges from 50-100+ hours depending on how much of a completionist you are. The game is challenging, rewarding, engaging, and simply a masterpiece. This game has been in the top 10 in sales since it's release for 42 consecutive months. That pick no doubt is The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild!

Sony Playstation pick:

Sony has top notch exclusives and a lot of them on their Platform. This was a really tough choice. My pick is a game that had a story that made me care about the characters with good plot twist, simply gorgeous to look at, a really intelligent battle system, transformed the way this franchise has been tradionally played and a character that has been loved for years on the Sony Platform. My pick is The Last of sike...........God of War (2018)

Xbox Pick:
This pick is rather easy for me. I simply stopped caring about Gears after Gears 3, Halo IMO died with Bungie, but there is one exclusive franchise on the Xbox I am a sucker for. I absoluetly love a good arcade racers. Sadly the genre is lacking except for one series. This game is Fun, plays at 60fps, has a real sense of speed, fun physics, good multiplayer, just simply the best arcade experience out there right now. Forza Horizon Series!

If I had to pick one exclusive per console?

Switch: Breath of the Wild - Huge Zelda fan. The open world nature of the game really conveyed a you can go anywhere and do anything feeling of freedom that no other open world game has been able to capture. The game felt like a huge leap forward for Zelda's storytelling. A flawless Zelda title. The best since "A Link to the Past".

PS4: Persona 5 Royal - Fantastic JRPG. I particularly enjoy the daily routine system (Something I also enjoyed in Fire Emblem Three Houses). The game has stunning visuals and a fantastic soundtrack. The gameplay flawless combines a multitude of mechanics. Persona 5 just has an engrossing sense of style that no other game has.

Xbox One: Halo Master Chief Collection (2019-2020) - I'm a huge fan of classic Halo; my primary reason for owning an Xbox. I was incredibly disappointed with Halo 4 and 5. I would consider Master Chief Collection (2014-2018) to be not only the worst exclusive but also the worst game of the generation. I've never seen a game that broken. The work that the newly formed MCC team did to not only turn it around but release it on PC was absolutely remarkable. It still isn't perfectly 1:1 with the original H1/H2 releases but it gets better and better with each update. A tremendous effort.

Switch: Breath of the Wild (finest crafted open world to explore since Morrowind)
PS4: Bloodborne (a razer sharp Souls experience with an unbelievable setting)
XBox: Horizon 3 (as the amount of arcade racers dwindles, it's amazing to see a big budget title that more than delivers)

PS4: 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim -This one of the best sci-fi story I ever experienced this generation and its told such interesting way. You would think jumping between 13 different characters would be complete mess of a story but GOD DAMN, Vanillaware pulled it off beautifully here. I'm huge NieR Automata fanboy and I still LOOOOVE that game but 13 Sentinels managed to take over as my game of the generation.

Switch: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - I put over 300+ hours in to this game, I love the combat and I absolutely loved character and the chemistry they have with each other. I also enjoyed the original game a lot and especially had a blast with Definitive Edition but after playing that game, it made me realize that I enjoyed combat system 2nd game more.

Switch: Super Smash Bros Ultimate- Everyone's here.
PS4: The Last of Us 2- Attention to detail.
XBOX: Ori and the Will of the Wisps- Metroidvania evolution and wonderful setting.

Nintendo Switch : The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Pretty easy pick since it is a Zelda game and I have been playing those games for more than 20 years and they are always high quality and a lot of fun. Very impressive that this game is also on the Wii U and was originally designed to be a Wii U game. The gameplay and navigation in this game feels spectacular.
There are a lot of bad design decision in this game and I personally love OoT, MM, WW and ALttP more, but it is still a Zelda game with sandbox elements on a gigantic scale. Best Switch game, but very far from being the best Zelda/Nintendo game. Lots of fun and a must have for every Switch/Wii U owner.
Looking forward to BOTW2 and I hope that a few design decisions will be reworked for this one to make it even better.

Playstation 4 : The Last of Us Part II.

In my opinion the best game ever made. It has the best graphics we've ever seen, the gameplay and combat is a gigantic step up from the previous game and the sheer quality of everything in this game ranging from the animations to the voice acting is out of this world. This game gives me hope going forward, because of how it managed to amaze me after so many years of gaming and another step up from games like BOTW, GoW, Witcher 3, MGS V and Red Dead Redemption 2. I couldn't believe that the old PS4 still had so much to offer, but Naughty Dog proved that with talent and aiming for perfection you can make gamers' jaw drop in 2020 a few months before an entirely new generation releases. And even more impressive that Naughty Dog managed to releases 3x AAA(A) games during the PS4 generation and remastered the first The Last of Us.
Whatever Naughty Dog is working on for the Playstation 5. I can't wait.

Xbox One : Ori and the Blind Forest / Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

I 100%'d both games and I basically love them equally. The game is cute, beautiful and the gameplay feels exactly how it should be. The game itself presents a slight challenge and the store has an emotional layer that makes you love this game even more. There is hard so say much more about this game besides that it is well good and even harder to find negatives.
So give me more of Ori please. You guys did a fantastic job.

Interesting

PS4 would have to be Bloodborne. I mean the fact that its performance is so shit really kills my enjoyment if we are talking the here and now. I'd probably go with SOTC or a 60fps game, but yeah, Bloodborne gave a lasting impression.

Switch I would have to go with BOTW. I enjoyed my time with that game the most. However, I'd always choose cemu to play that game now so the alternative would probably be Mario Odyssey. Like I said the performance of BOTW kills me if I try to play the Switch version now. Handheld mode is ok though and more forgivable.

Xbox I'm going with Forza Horizon 3. Yet again I'd rather play on PC now and my choice would probably be Forza Horizon 4 if I played it on 1X, but I had stopped using my Xbox at this point and focused fully on PC. So the best game I played there is Horizon 3, but I imagine FH4 would be my top pick. Master Chief Collection is actually a banger and probably deserves top spot, but again I've only played it on PC.

All companies have great games. Next gen should be great.

XBox:
Gears 5 ; tons of content (campaign, co-op, horde, vs.) I still love horde and multiplayer.

SONY:
TLOU1 Remastered ; Loved the story, characters, enemies. It wanst some crazy new original concept, but it was done fantasically well

NINTENDO:
Mario Kart 8 ; tons of fun battling other players and friends. Fun party game peeps of all ages can get into.

Switch: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore - It is basically a Switch Exclusive Persona Game and lots of fun. I like it even more than the latest Zelda.

Playstation: Horizon Zero Dark - I love open world games and this one has really great graphics and gameplay. I also enjoyed the story.

Xbox - Microsofts console imho never was that great on exclusives, so i really dont have a clear favourite. For some reason i generally liked the Forza games more than GT, also Gears of War should get a honorary mention as a really solid 3PS.

switch: xenoblade 2 = It felt like final fantasy 7, maybe because how it started / looks. Still only of few switch games I have / like
ps4: witcher 3 = story is just nice and side quests are interesting, as is the whole world. It just feels like a fantasy world to explore and live in the shoes of gerald.
xbox: havent even seen xbox other than on store shelf, but I guess from what I seen I would choose quantum break because it looks cool
