Favorite intro movie or gameplay sequence

The FF X intro with otherworld playing is one of my most memorable openings in a game. Had never seen anything like it. Pretty much everything in the demo shocked the hell out of me and made the wait for the full game painful.

Lost Odyssey: I thought the opening battle was cool with Kaim showing some slick moves, and the seamless transition into gameplay was impressive.

Onimusha 3: Really this one goes without saying.

Mass Effect 2: I know Bioware teased that Shepard could die in ME2, but I didn't know he would bite the dust right in the opening movie.

Panzer Dragoon Saga: I still get goosebumps every time I watch this.

As a whole, the one intro that was incredibly memorable for me from an audio/visual presentation standpoint was FF VIII's (and I didn't even like the game that much). Setting that opening to Liberia Fatali was simply unforgettable.

Out of This World, whether you're referring to the intro movie or the first game play sequence. I always thought that the intro movie would make for a great Ferrari ad, and the first level of the game was just so groundbreaking for its time.

As far as opening gameplay, I loved Zelda ALTTP's.

Theres a sense of urgency stemming from the music and the rain as you run into the unknown interior of the castle.

For me, this year, it was definitely DEUX EX - Human Revolution's intro. The way it was presented along side the story, it made for a big Robocop-vibe. And Robocop's the best movie ever, so, yeah.

In its day, Sons of Liberty sold a lot of PS2's with that intro/trailer.

For something recent, I think Arkham City did a brilliant job of introducing the player to the game. Completely unexpected and thoroughly well done.

Was always fond of the Windwaker intro

The music just stirs something up inside of you.
That and the simplicity makes it that much more epic and historic

Intro movie: Wild ARMS, the music alone just gives me the chills.
Gameplay sequence: Saints Row IV, that moment "I don't want to miss a thing" starts playing... pure awesomeness!

i have a few that really stood out to me, although most games are fine with intros; but these four intros were very memorable to me.

Bioshock- plane crash followed by the Rapture intro

Prey- aliens fuck up your grandpa's bar on the reservation and suck you into space while "fear the reaper" is playing on the juke box.

Donkey Kong 64- DK rap intro. enough said.

Destroy All Humans!- it was a perfect B-movie intro that payed homage to old tv and movie sci-fi/horror. loved the writing and atmosphere.

The opening to Majora's Mask was very interesting and had a very freaky atmosphere to it.

Also, Mass Effect 2's intro. I don't care if it's "objectively flawed" I'm free to think dogshit is awesome too if that's what I feel like okay?

Bioshock Infinite is a masterpiece. The launch, the temple, the baptism, God Only Knows, Good Night Eileen, the raffle...

The whole game is awesome, but the build up until you recue Elizabeth is insane.
