Favorite Overall Character Design of 2015?

Basically everything in Bloodborne, from NPCs to enemies. Lady Maria, for instance:

I dont know how i forgot but yes Marias design is also god like.

Are we counting Overwatch or Indivisible as '15 since their designs unveiled last year? Because if so, I'd pick some there.

Otherwise Tales from the Borderlands, The Witcher, Transistor and Syndicate were pretty great...

I seriously can't pick one. They're all great.

you've got great taste 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Man, I was really disappointed with W3's character designs. The armor seemed to take a nosedive in comparison to 2 and some of the pandering for the female armor was laughable for priding themselves on "grounded and realistic" armor.

The armor selection in The Witcher 2 appealed more to my personal tastes, but The Witcher 3 offered a much more diverse array of styles for Geralt. I appreciated the greater variety of silhouettes, textures, and fits of the armors in The Witcher 3, even if they weren't all attractive.

As for the female characters, I think their designs tended to be really strong despite blatant pandering. And in some cases, the more suggestive outfits didn''t seem entirely out of character. Though I do think Triss's design was a huge step back from TW2, thanks in no small part to the attempt at forcing her cleavage into the design.

Splatoon and Bloodborne are obviously the best ones. Life is Strange is more of a personal favorite. Simple, but very effective character design.

Venom snake looks so bad ass. I have no complaints on his design. Even love the horn.
Might not be overall but when one is this good, I have to post it.

i agree with all of these. Such a same Overwatch won't have a campaign, but i am very excited for the short films.

That's fair enough about Geralt, I'm not sure about the variety but honestly w3's non witcher armor just seemed to be the same gamebeson design with a different pattern after a while.

And yeah they could do a lot better on the female front, sorceresses aren't on councils anymore so they don't need to dress as revealing, and a lot of characters had blatant boob windows and/or wearing fucking heels. Ciri's design in particular is abysmal to me, heels and a boob window combined with a huge chunk of exposed stomach in her alternate outfit. If her goal was to trip up while running and then get cleaved in half horizontally she's doing a great job.

Every woman in The Witcher is either a crazy sorceress or Ciri. Ciris just wearing a shirt and some trousers, very practical for fighting.

None of the other women in the series need to fight. So why would they need to wear practical armor? I dont remember Kiera, Triss or Yennifer having pandering designs.

Bloodborne by a mile. Nothing specific really. Oitfits, the world...everything. They nailed it.

The order was incredible too, especially the fancier uniform the team wears.

Ciri is wearing heels, has a boob window and her alternate outfit has her entire midriff exposed. If that's practical for fighting then I must be losing my sanity. Compare that with Geralt or any of the other male fighters who have pretty much every inch of their skin covered up and it's off.

Are you calling her improperly buttoned shirt a boob window? You can see her damn bra underneath it, its clearly not meant to be that way. Shes supposed to look disheveled because shes on the run.

The heels woudl be ridiculous but I never look at shoes, haha, never noticed them.

I overstated the boob window on the original outfit, my b. Still the heels and her alternate outfit are ???

Ashley from Until Dawn. All the characters in the game are incredibly good looking, but Ashley stands out for me. I think her clothing has the most detail also.

I agree with almost everything in this thread, so I'll pick something that wasn't posted but still amazing.

The Crones from Witcher 3

Whats wrong with this outfit, the tummy? Alt outfits are clearly not meant to be held up to the same standards as normal character design since theyre optional. Im not gonna dress up Snake in a tuxedo and then complain that his Tuxedo shouldn't be able to keep him warm in the frigid Alaskan wilderness.

Verisimilitude complaints shouldn't really count against alt costumes. Yea, she could take a sword in the belly, but its an alt outfit, the designers just have fun with them.

Lots of good stuff in here, some that would probably be my first go to pick. That said, I really dug Ceres in Witcher.

Scars, kilts, armor, daggers. She looked like someone who was born and lived in that environment. Definitely not over-sexualized. Also helped that she was a pretty great character and not at all a love interest.

All of the designs in Splatoon are so good that it's hard to pinpoint a specific one. Callie and Marie, I guess?

Also Lady Maria from Bloodborne is dope af

I thought mortal kombat X has some amazing character designs. Two of my favorite were D'vorah and ferra and torr

Metal Gear Solid V. D-Dog was fantastic. And despite how divisive her design is in many people's eyes I really enjoyed Quiet as a Character.

Runners up go to Mortal Kombat X and Disagea 5.

Totally agreed. Huge disappointment after going from Witcher 2.

I blame the art lead, because he or she chose the worst character designs of the ones available by the concept artists. But I guess the ones in charge simply really, really wanted to show skin as much as possible, lightbulb armor, and having really high heels, at least that's what seems to be the recurring theme.

Not gonna disagree with you in regards to most of the female characters, but Cerys was refreshing. Temera Strenger was fine as well.

Lmao, never used the alternate outfit, but you got me on the heels. Forgot all about those.

Arkham Knight is the first Rocksteady game with solid character design. In the past, almost everyone looked like some weird doll or plastic toy, but now they all look like actual people.
