Favorite Video Game Villains/Antagonists.

So the topic on the Gamebuddies podcast (http://gamebuddies.podbean.com) tonight is, video game bad guys and what makes an interesting one. I was just looking to see who this hive of scum and Villainy thought are among the most wretched.

On my list is one that I think will be echoed here a lot, GLaDOS. I mean not only is she obviously trying to kill you but she is also incredibly petty, and add on top of that the fact that she is everywhere, she lives inside the walls of the Aperture Science it makes for a fantastic antagonist for a video game.

So what do y'all think? Who are some of the most dastardly villains?

This man

This may sound bullshit to people who never played Tony Hawk's Underground and how could a skating game have a good antagonist but there is no villain I love to hate as much as Eric Sparrow.

I'll just repost what I typed here, because I still hold this opinion:
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair -
Nagito Komaeda
(Chapter 1 spoilers)

Not only my favorite villain from 2014, but one of my favorites ever. A very complex antagonist that plays off one's expectations of the previous game in the series, and completely subverts them. The character is not just a "villain", either. Their motivation to do what they do is simply incredible in the context of the game. A character who is fully the antithesis of the concept/enemy the main characters face, yet is so completely twisted that the character themselves becomes an enemy on the other side of the spectrum.

They can't be fully labeled an "antagonist" as they do a lot to help the protagonists throughout the game, but they can't be fully labeled a "protagonist" as they do a lot to go against what the rest of the cast want to achieve. They are incredibly capable, smart and extremely dangerous, yet the way they act goes against all of that, which fully blindsides the player at times.

What a fantastic character.

Edit: ^^ Dear lord. I think that picture's too small.

Sewell in Silent Hill Downpour. One of the most well written and implemented antagonists in any game I've played. Dude was the definition of pure scum and everything he did made me legitimately hate the character, as it was intended.

It's a cliche response, but:

Kefka Palazzo, from Final Fantasy VI

The man was a monster.
He's responsible for genocide, slavery, countless other war crimes, and ultimately causes ruin on a global scale.

Never have I wanted to 'defeat' an antagonist as much as I wanted to take Kefka down.

Gehn from Riven.

Ive never seen any other villain who through the game would maintain such a sense of superiority. Arrogant, evil and yet still classy. And then I've found his journals and learned just what made him into such man and it was heart breaking.

Easily the best villain in an RPG.

...Kreia...
from KOTOR 2 tho.

My all time favourite is Arthas from Warcraft 3/The Frozen Throne. Never have I wanted so much for a villain to succeed. So much fun both playing as him and against him.

Nagito.....
from Danganronpa 2 is top tier as well as said above. Especially
his
final troll.

The killer from Phoenix Wright case 1-5 is one of the all-time greats.

Pious from Eternal Darkness was a pretty good one too. That voice acting, man.

Who is this guy? What game is this?
Geez, why do people never post essential information in these kind of threads. Btw. why is he so great?

Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising.

Because he's batshit insane.

He also played football at the University of Texas.

Got to agree on Wesker because he's just such a dick. He's a fun villain with his trash talk and his faux-British accent (I also love Liquid Snake for this reason).

Liquid Snake was the shit. I was so disappointed that they changed his voice actor in MGS4.

Ripped AVGN is the first post again and I'm perfectly fine with that

Anyway, I really like Bowser. He's great in the RPG's and he's just an iconic villain altogether

Agree so much.

Delita from Final Fantasy Tactics, the antagonist who schemed and manipulated
everyone so damn hard he ended up going down in history as the hero of the story.

I don't know. Is Delita considered a villain? I thought he was more of an anti-hero. I also really believe that he really did love Ovelia... I mean, if you really think about it, idk if Ramza would have succeeded without Delita.
