Beyblade for me. I remember seeing it take my elementary school by storm that I had to have one. I ended up getting a Blue Dragoon and would always bring it to recess to play with other beybladers.

And when that was done, I remember being attached to the show (see above).

Then it all came to an end when I think school banned it.

Since Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are still rather popular and have official tournaments hosted every year, I'm going to have to say Digivices and Digimon cards.

Runescape was a fad for my middle school. Invested quite a lot of time into that account but whenever I try to log on these days, it's hard to find any motivation to continue playing.

YuGiOh was definitely my favourite anime/toy combo fad. I loved playing with my brother when I was young, we'd never follow the rules but I'd always talk like they do on the show.

Man I sometimes feel bad that I never got into the whole Pokemon thing when it was happening. I still don't know how to play it, nor have I ever played any of the video games. It seemed like a very social activity, and I didn't really have friends when I was young, so I could never get into it. Shucks.

This is what GAF is for!

Anyway, more seriously, Bionicle was a pretty big part of my childhood. Surprised nobody's mentioned it yet.

And +1 for Beyblade ;)

Anyone remember Tazos? I think that's what they were called... they were like pogs but had little ridges in them so you could lock them together. When the special editions of the Star Wars trilogy came out here in the UK you could get Star Wards Tazos from crisp packets and I managed to get the full set. Was the greatest accomplishment of my life.

Shit now i feel old and out of the loop, i saw that picture and thought to myself "These pokemon characters are starting to look like reject DragonBall Z designs"

Then i read its beyblade and had no idea what the fuck it was....googled it now i feel alot worse because im not gonna get those minutes back.
Fuck.

On Topic

Underage drinking....my god once upon a time having a beer was like the greatest thing ever, as soon as i turned 18 suddenly because i could so easily get alcohol it wasnt as cool....still got wasted but the excitement of drinking was so much lower.
I got to relive the excitement for a bit when i moved to the US drinking age 21 WTF!

Durifto Maybe i should call this Initial D instead, but all my friends who had RWD cars after watching this show would "drift" everytime it got wet, i went through a hard phase where i spent nigh literally every cent i had on getting my car drift ready....i dont think im fully over this fad im just too lazy to drive to a track to drift....so i picked up a new fad which Auto-GAF absolutely hates:

Fitment If you can fit your fingers over your tires your car is too high.

I was the KING at tazos! No really, I would pretty much bust everyones tazo "roll" every lunch time!

edit:

I actually went into partnership with a friend because I couldn't hold all my tazos!

I managed to get the full Star Wars set twice over. Even bought the little ring binders that were for storing them with info cards and whatnot.

Sold one on Ebay several years ago. I'm sure I still have the other set at home somewhere.

The Internet. Should be over any day now.

To be more serious, there was this toy collectible that my sister and I used to collect called "Go-Go's" or something like that. It was just tiny plastic figures you could collect. We just had them on a bookshelf. Eventually the whole shelf was filled with them. I tried finding pictures of it but I can only find newer ones which looks nothing like the ones we collected. There are more painted on features on the new ones whereas the only features on the ones we had were in the actual plastic mold, and one figure were only a single color. We used to divide the figures up by color, so all the green ones were in one place and the transparent yellow in another etc. I dunno if it's my favorite but it hasn't been mentioned yet. I think they came out in the late 90s, a few years after POGs.

Garbage Pail Kids

Shit was gross, horrrible and totally awesome.

Shit yes! Loved these disgusting little dudes.

I remember there being a fad for plastic dummy necklaces when I was younger. And yes I had a whole bunch. No idea what that was all about.

Also yo-yo's were a fad, at least in Sweden, during the late 90s - early 00s. I had like 8 of them at one point.

Edit: ^Oh shit I remember those necklaces. Everyone had them, though especially girls.

Oh, I remember the numerous beyblade battles with kids around the neighborhood. We even made our own little arenas with traps and pitfalls to fight in.

It was cool.

+1 for Bionicle as well.
