Also yo-yo's were a fad, at least in Sweden, during the late 90s - early 00s. I had like 8 of them at one point.

Edit: ^Oh shit I remember those necklaces. Everyone had them, though especially girls.

Yo-yos were a fad here in the states, too, around that time. They ended up being banned from the school I went to because at recess nearly every kid had a yo-yo and nobody was playing on the playground equipment.

Pogs and Slammers
Pokemon cards

There was this one thing we used to have, it began with a 'G' I think. They were little coloured models made out of plastic that looked like piles of slime, and you'd flick them at the other player's models. If you knocked them over, they were yours for the rest of the game I think.

Garbage Pail Kids

Shit was gross, horrrible and totally awesome.

these were legitimately great.

the 'twin' gimmick was great as well. same drawing but a rarer name.

Does anyone remember a line of toys that were essentially "space slugs" or something? They were un-articulated guys that I think came in some little container of slime, and they had little robotic battle suit shells that you could put them in.

I can't figure out what they were called.

Oh hell yes. I had like 3* of these. I remember during one trip my family made to SF, we were walking up the main street in Chinatown and I saw a REAL one, one from Japan. I needed to have it. There was a lot of begging involved, but I did get it <3

Now I wanna go find it :(

*Specifically (the ones I remember, anyway):

This is the one I played the crap out of; it was my favorite.

The "real" one. I found it much harder to use, but still fun.

Pogs and all variant is probably the most memorable for me as it happened right when I was in elementary school and everyone was crazy for them. Those things would spark pretty big fights and draw huge interest when people would be playing with "rare" ones. None of the later fads had such a huge following in my school.

Edit: I guess tamagotchis were also pretty big, my school ended up banning them because people would stop paying attention in the middle of classes so they could feed/play with theirs.

Edit2: Now that I think about it we also had those Simpsons Stickers that got really big, I spent most of my allowance on getting booster pack in hopes of getting a smelly one.

lol. I can still remember the first time I saw & held a furbie. They were so fucking rare.. lol..

It was black and white. Yellow beak, blue eyes... man. And I was a teenager at the time. It still had magic.

Haha I know, I miss the 90s, so much nostalgia... Hell I even miss VHS tapes lol.

Tamagochi's were the fad.
There were even schools that had set up "day-care" facilities for kids to store away their tamagochis while they were in class.
