FBI will not recommend indictment for Hillary Clinton

kinda sucks to have to pick between these Trump and Clinton though. Direct primaries are not the right process for picking people with the qualifications for leadership.

The Democratic primary isn't a fully "direct primary" like the Republican one. It's actually probably the best way to reduce the ability of someone like Donald Trump to win the nomination.

I fully expect some changes to be made to the RNC nominating process before 2020.

I didn't see the press conference, but CNN is saying that it was pretty "damning" in terms of her behavior. So it's like: she isn't a criminal, but....was woefully reckless and irresponsible.

This isn't really "great" news.

Exactly. In other words, the American people have to decide if they want someone as commander in chief that has repeatedly in their career put national security at risk, even while visiting foriegn lands.

She needs consequences, the FBI Director said their should be, because what she did was absolutely disgusting and deplorable in terms of national security and transparency.

Some people would say this isn't a good show of character for a candidate. I base myself more on facts and policies than character, but it is still something that the people need to consider.

FOX news in full on attack mode, bringing in legal experts to say that Hillary should have been indicted.

They could at least try to be objective but there is not a hope a hell of that ever happening. They are a just a Republican propaganda wing and a joke frankly.

The FBI does not recommend indictment, but you guys do realize she could still be indicted, right?

I'll post what I posted in the old thread.

All those classified AT the time emails? Absolutely disgusting. Evidence of being extremely careless confirmed. 7 top secret email chains at the time, my god...

Not even supported by full-time security staff for god's sake! Jesus wept.

I think the FBI director was excellent in his statement, and I appreciated how detailed he was, specially bring to light the sheer amount of gross negligence. I absolutely admire how the FBI handle is, and kept it open for the justice department, stating outright that this does not mean there shouldn't be consequences for something of this nature.

Since you clearly have zero experience in dealing with classified information, let me enlighten you a bit.

I've conducted four investigations for accidental/negligent discharge of classified data...in 2016. This stuff happens all the time, and it completely comes down to the circumstances of the event as to whether or not we do a damn thing about it. I've had people carry a backpack full of classified data outside of a SCIF environment. We bring the hammer down for that.

People sending TS data over NIPR can be a serious event, depending on who the recipients were, whether or not we can establish positive control of the distro chain, and explanation for how the data came to be on an unclassified system.

If Hillary and company were discussing TS initiatives and programs in veiled, roundabout terminology, it's fucking nothing. If Hillary was forwarding improperly marked emails that she received on her Blackberry, the originator will be investigated and may have disciplinary action. If Hillary is literally purposefully copying/pasting or typing data she knows is TS into her BB, then she should have charges.

From what we've heard on this case, we know it's not option C. So we're left with fucking nothing.

If you want to use this as a stump for a racist, misogynistic, thin-skinned, uneducated asshole to be president, be my guest. Join Trump in putting on clown shoes while you're at it.

The only indictment coming out this press conference is that the American public has two shitty choices for president this election cycle.

That's what i'm saying. It's no surprise that the Canadian parliament were chanting "Four more years" after Obama's speech there recently. The rest of the world must think "What the fuck?" when they look at our candidates.

The media's interpretation of it is not based in reality. It's based on edgy headlines to get clicks.

And on the other hand you have insane, racist, orange guy who would probably Nuke somebody before his first term is over... I think Hillary has pretty good chances here. :)

I would agree. That was still pretty scathing of a press conference despite no indictment. That's going to go over the head of people already set on voting Hillary but I think it will definitely have an impact on the fence sitters.

I think a lot of it is baked in, though it might hurt in the short term. I agree that it was deeply critical--it's just that since nothing's going to come of it there's nothing new to really hang onto after this.

The alternative at this point is a racist numbskull. I think the American people will clearly make their choice this November.

I love Huelen keeps saying "disgusting" so we know they're over the edge and have had it with Hillary's behavior. We get, you're voting for a bigot in November.

It is good news for her because Hillary not indicted is the main headline, not the fluff leading up to it.

I mean, "X NOT INDICTED" is not actually a good headline for X, even if it looks like it might be. It still suggests that there was a possibility they might've been indicted, which isn't great!

Ultimately this isn't news at all, it's just a non-ending.

If you hate Hillary Clinton and think she's dishonest, there was stuff in the presser for you to repeat in GAF threads just like this one.

If you support Hillary Clinton and think she's unfairly attacked, there was stuff in the presser for you to repeat in GAF threads just like this one.

It'll just go on exactly the way it's been going on for the last year, probably for the next decade. So I don't expect it to change anything at all about the race.

Just another inkblot in the political Rorschach test that is the Clinton family.

This was not all good news for Hillary. Saying she was careless and that she did indeed received classified information when she's been saying that she did not. At least politically she took a hit here.

I thought we'd known for a while that some of the e-mails turned over were classified even if not marked such, and that she was lying and/or wrong about it. While the FBI statement is chock full of talking points and soundbites we'll be hearing for months, I don't think any of it was really that surprising for people who had been following along (I was honestly expecting them to find more dirt in the deleted e-mails than they apparently did.)

I dunno, I hope this leads to better IT oversight by the federal government because what she did was fucked up, but that it was able to happen at all is kind of a blotch on our information security as a whole.

Any other election cycle I think I'd feel differently about this, but my current stance is older and not tech-savvy powerful person bullies underlings into making stupid IT decisions for personal convenience. It was irresponsible and careless and she shouldn't have done it, but we given that the government is populated pretty heavily with people who don't understand a goddamned thing about technology we also need a system that doesn't let them bully their way into stuff like this.

Hahaha this post. So much fire. Damn.

Great, now I'm going to see and hear the words "extremely careless" for the next 5 months until my eyes and ears bleed from abuse.

The rest of the world loves Clinton though.

So basically Comey said she was extremely negligent and careless, which would technically be felony territory, BUT still no charges. At one point he even said something like "If it were anyone else...." Granted I'm paraphrasing here, but that's what he said right? So what are we supposed to make of that? Because what I take away from that is that she's untouchable and it doesn't matter that she did something they wouldn't normally let people get away with.

You didn't have to ether him like that lol

Dude was like if it was anybody else they would get in trouble but its Hillary Clinton so we'll let it slide. BUT Don't do IT!

Is Pwned still a thing or has the internet moved on to "BOOM Headshot" or something???

Quoting this post just so I hope more people read it.

I do believe in context to the "if it were anyone else", he was referring that this matter would have been an internal affair with its own form of measures taken, possibly firing of a person in such a position. Your regular Joe wouldn't have been taken up on charges for this.

It says so much about these presidential candidates that we have people celebrating that one of the candidates it just a liar. It's mindboggling that this country somehow stumbled onto electing Obama when you see this shitshow.

All politicians are liars. Obama lies to the American public all the time himself. That is part of the job. Like how he ran against Hillary's healthcare proposal through the 2008 primaries and then passed the ACA, which was far closer to her proposed healthcare expansion than his own.

Senator Obama would probably have huge issues with President Obama's drone program as another example, and would probably oppose TPP.

Seems about right. She fucked up, but not criminally. I'm sure a case for indictment could be made, given a different administration, but no recommendation made here. Consider me 99.99999999% sure Lynch will follow recommendation and won't indict.
