FBI will not recommend indictment for Hillary Clinton

There are some details here and there but ultimately the big news and what majority of people will care about will be the following. " No indictment. No intentional wrong doing." That's all people will care about. The details ultimately don't matter to those at large and that will ultimately be splitting of hairs.

The issue on classification was always that State didn't consider the emails classified when they were sent to, or received from, Hillary's server but the FBI did consider them classified (hence, why they refer to those emails as being classified). Did I miss something or did that not really change?

You apparently did miss something. 110 emails were considered classified at the time of sending and receiving and many were even marked as such AT THE TIME.

Aw, no fair! Time for some real American whining.

I don't see anything in Comey's statement saying that the classified emails were clearly marked classified at the time.

I'm really tired of having to say this, but the UK has an incredibly white population.

If they had our demographics, there's no way a 4 point spread for Leave happens. It'd be a sizable Remain win. People need to stop ignoring people of color.

I'm not going to underestimate the laziness of democrats that can't be bothered to get off their asses and vote in non presidential elections. We'll have this in the bag when she's declared winner, not before.

He actually said exactly that.

The way Huelen is misusing the charge term of gross negligence when the FBI themselves didn't find gross negligence to be the case here

That careless use of language strikes me as negligent, perhaps even to a gross extent.

I don't see anything in Comey's statement saying that the classified emails were clearly marked classified at the time.

He literally stated it and they've been talking about it since.

"With respect to the thousands of e-mails we found that were not among those produced to State, agencies have concluded that three of those were classified at the time they were sent or received, one at the Secret level and two at the Confidential level. There were no additional Top Secret e-mails found. Finally, none of those we found have since been “up-classified.”

Since you clearly have zero experience in dealing with classified information, let me enlighten you a bit.

I've conducted four investigations for accidental/negligent discharge of classified data...in 2016. This stuff happens all the time, and it completely comes down to the circumstances of the event as to whether or not we do a damn thing about it. I've had people carry a backpack full of classified data outside of a SCIF environment. We bring the hammer down for that.

People sending TS data over NIPR can be a serious event, depending on who the recipients were, whether or not we can establish positive control of the distro chain, and explanation for how the data came to be on an unclassified system.

If Hillary and company were discussing TS initiatives and programs in veiled, roundabout terminology, it's fucking nothing. If Hillary was forwarding improperly marked emails that she received on her Blackberry, the originator will be investigated and may have disciplinary action. If Hillary is literally purposefully copying/pasting or typing data she knows is TS into her BB, then she should have charges.

From what we've heard on this case, we know it's not option C. So we're left with fucking nothing.

If you want to use this as a stump for a racist, misogynistic, thin-skinned, uneducated asshole to be president, be my guest. Join Trump in putting on clown shoes while you're at it.
Gotdamn! lol

He's not wrong.

He's also benefited from that same rigged system himself time and time again. Donald Trump has no place calling out a system rigged to benefit the rich and powerful at the expense of the lower and middle classes.

Patraeus wasn't far less. He intentionally leaked classified information to his writer girlfriend.

The only indictment coming out this press conference is that the American public has two shitty choices for president this election cycle.
That's what i'm saying. It's no surprise that the Canadian parliament were chanting "Four more years" after Obama's speech there recently. The rest of the world must think "What the fuck?" when they look at our candidates.
Strangely enough I feel the rest of the world is looking at the UK and probably thinking Hillary Clinton is a swell candidate

Fantastic :)

Okay, I found it.

Separately, it is important to say something about the marking of classified information. Only a very small number of the e-mails containing classified information bore markings indicating the presence of classified information. But even if information is not marked “classified” in an e-mail, participants who know or should know that the subject matter is classified are still obligated to protect it.

So that's dumb. Definitely would support Hillary Clinton getting a formal writeup as part of her inauguration ceremony.

So many people attacking Director Comey for his statements when he really handed them so much ammo to use. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I remember for the last few months people were saying Comey wasn't going to mess around and he was the perfect person for the job because he wouldn't take anything from Hillary and would ensure a thorough investigation.

And now that he's come out that he isn't going to recommend an indictment, he's corrupt and the entire system is rigged.

Can't really have it both ways (but they'll try).

Should be in the OP, honestly. Haven't seen this level of actual knowledge/experience combined with cold, hard truth in any GAF thread on this topic yet.

Not even that. There's a whole democrat platform that she'll be pushing. I wish people would stop getting caught up in cults of personality.

I went to a 4th of July party on Saturday where the host had a lifesize cardboard cut out of Bernie and insisted we toast to Bernie and his revolution.

The cult shit isn't ending any time soon.

Intent usually does not usually come in to play with charging someone with malfeasance.

You take intent into account if the person is tried and found guilty so as to better assess the sentence.

Anyway, even the Times' reporting is damning.

"During the investigation, Mr. Comey said, the F.B.I. recovered additional work-related emails that Mrs. Clinton’s lawyers had not turned over to the State Department, including some that contained classified information. But he said there was no evidence that she or her lawyers had intentionally deleted or withheld them.

"Still, Mr. Comey delivered what amounted to an extraordinary public tongue-lashing. 'There is evidence to support a conclusion' that Mrs. Clinton 'should have known an unclassified system was no place” for that information, he said.'"

I'm sorry, how the fuck is KNOWINGLY giving a notebook full of "highly classified" information to your mistress, and then blatantly lying about it to the FBI, considered "far less" than Clinton's email shit?

Fuck facts.

Well, did you honestly expect him to just say 'Well, it turns out that I was wrong! Hillary is alright after all!'.

He has to stick to the script no matter what. Politics.

What do you mean even? The Times has been almost entirely responsible for pushing this story from the start

Trump panders to the idiot demographic. You know, the type who probably distrust places like Wikipedia because it's 'too liberal'. They actively ignore valid information in the age it's at our fingertips.

Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated. (also to posts on the previous page)

So our awesome country is basically weighing a guy who can barely contain his admiration for the white power movement, or the candidate that big money really really wants in place. Awesome.

A lot more Big Money wants the Republican candidate.

Comey's statement is pretty clear that this is not true for cases of this nature.

comey said:
In looking back at our investigations into mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts. All the cases prosecuted involved some combination of: clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information; or vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice. We do not see those things here.

For mishandling of classified information, criminal charges have historically only been brought where there was evidence of intent (or an extensive pattern of behavior to the point that it suggests intent).

Comey is a very trustworthy individual, I believe that there shouldn't be any criminal charges brought on her, but a very important element of his public announcement should be noted.

To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now.

Hillary has no business running for the most important job in the US with a statement like this coming from the FBI, while Trump is not fit for presidency either in my opinion, the US is truly as a nation, in a lot of trouble with both of these candidates. I don't think there should be celebration from either side of the aisle if you are a voter.
