Not a comedy but Ristorante Paradiso is probably one of the most laid-back, cheerful anime I've watched in years.

Hataraku Maou-Sama made me laugh quite a bit recently so I'd go with that. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is a good choice too.

Definitely Gekkan Shoujou Nozaki-kun. I haven't laughed that much at an anime since Nichijou.

Golden Boy (specifically the dub) always puts a goofy grin on my face. Easily one of the funniest and simultaneously raunchiest things out there.
Otherwise, I'd say Saint Young Men. Its a movie about Jesus and Buddha as roommates on a long vacation in Japan. Funny, happy, and pretty gentle of the source mythologies. Really feel good stuff. Looks really great too.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. Even seeing the recommendations makes me feel better. I'll take a look at them when I get home from work tonight. There are a few of your suggestions that I've watched before. I might watch them again.

Also, The Devil Is A Part Timer is pretty lighthearted and it's quick. Only 12 episodes.

Yeah, Clannad isn't feel good; it's sad. I mean it has its happy moments, but overall, not something I'd watch to pick me up.

I love Clannad and After Story and there are lighthearted moments, but goddamn, no. Clannad has some of the most heartbreaking and soulcrushing moments

Came to say this. Even if you don't necessarily laugh, the cast is just so lovable and everything is really bright and cheery. It's the one true recommendation in this thread.
But I was profoundly happy with how Clannad ended
but the journey man.

Pani Poni Dash is one I will always recommend. Think of it as a halfway show between Azumanga and Excel Saga. It's fantastic and has a very good English dub.
Hahaha, oh man I've watched K-on so many times now. I've only watched the movie once though...
All their songs are... unique.
I think I'll check out the Polar Bear Cafe one first.

I'll give them a listen right now. I think my favorite anime music has to be Nichijou's orchestral soundtrack. I used to play in a winds ensemble until I had to move out to Toronto for graduate school, and it sounds like music that my band director might go for, and it brings back nice feelings.
