I'm not feeling so good and I need something to pass the time.

Does anybody have any recommendations for anime, preferably something like Azumanga Daioh or Nichijou?

Grave of the Fireflies.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

Spice and Wolf.

Very heartwarming characters and the plot doesn't go into grimdark or serious drama territory to highlight the love they have for each other.

Usagi Drop - Wholesome and uplifting
Ichigo Mashimaro - Very easygoing and similar to what you enjoy
No Game No Life - Fun and optimistic
Lovely Complex - Heartfelt and genuine

Do you want to just feel good and laugh? Hale + Guu. Watch it in japanese.

Do you want some catharsis? Tokyo Godfathers.

Spice and Wolf.

Warning, you will go through about 6 or 7 episodes that are purely focused on teaching 1800's civics.

Golden Boy (specifically the dub) always puts a goofy grin on my face. Easily one of the funniest and simultaneously raunchiest things out there.

Otherwise, I'd say Saint Young Men. Its a movie about Jesus and Buddha as roommates on a long vacation in Japan. Funny, happy, and pretty gentle of the source mythologies. Really feel good stuff. Looks really great too.

Kenichi: The Mightest Disciple. Great underdog type story. Quite funny too.

Honey and Clover.

The ending to the second season in particular was good.

You can try Clannad as well.

Also has a fantastic second season.

These aren't like the ones you mentioned in the OP but:

Hyouka.
Your Lie in April (still airing).

Thanks for the recommendations guys. Even seeing the recommendations makes me feel better. I'll take a look at them when I get home from work tonight. There are a few of your suggestions that I've watched before. I might watch them again.

As for my tastes, I like laid back/slice of life stuff.

Also, The Devil Is A Part Timer is pretty lighthearted and it's quick. Only 12 episodes.

Edit: DIAPT is very laid back and slice of life-ish.

K-On! it is then.

Fine taste good sir

after reading that Nanny thread I think I need some feel good anime too :S

How in the hell is Clannad 'feel good"? Don't listen to him OP!

Yeah, Clannad isn't feel good; it's sad. I mean it has its happy moments, but overall, not something I'd watch to pick me up.

I love Clannad and After Story and there are lighthearted moments, but goddamn, no. Clannad has some of the most heartbreaking and soulcrushing moments

Definitely Gekkan Shoujou Nozaki-kun. I haven't laughed that much at an anime since Nichijou.

Came to say this. Even if you don't necessarily laugh, the cast is just so lovable and everything is really bright and cheery. It's the one true recommendation in this thread.

Pani Poni Dash is one I will always recommend. Think of it as a halfway show between Azumanga and Excel Saga. It's fantastic and has a very good English dub.

Astro Fighter Sunred

A fun parody on the sentai genre that focus on life after being a hero.

Aria the Animation.
Aria the Natural.
Aria the OVA: Arietta
Aria the Origination

Off you go.

Neo Venezia awaits you.

There is no better relaxing anime than this. It will make you feel all warm inside as you watch it, assuming you end up falling for it. Here are some music examples:

I'll give them a listen right now. I think my favorite anime music has to be Nichijou's orchestral soundtrack. I used to play in a winds ensemble until I had to move out to Toronto for graduate school, and it sounds like music that my band director might go for, and it brings back nice feelings.

Lovely Complex!

"Risa and Otani are always being laughed at as the comedy duo. Risa, a girl, is taller than the average girl, and Otani, a boy, is shorter than the average boy. The two are always bickering and even their teacher sees them as a comedy act. But as their friendship develops, so do Risa's feelings toward Otani."

It really grew on me after a few episodes.

Jesus. I can't do the Aria series. I've had the second season on hold forever because it just makes me feel so depressed.
