Fellow european Sony customers, are you satisfied?

I don't usually preorder games, I don't see any value in playing through streaming service and I've never bought a physical Vita game, so I guess I'm lucky I have not been affected by those issues

Currently since the Dollar gained a lot towards the Euro the past year. When the console launched we paid $21 more.

You're never going to fully account for currency fluctuations. The only way to completely avoid it would be for all countries to have the same currency.

That said, it just seems to be a recurring theme that whenever someone from the EU compares prices to the US, complaining about US prices being cheaper they always compare the pre-tax US price to the post-tax EU price.

It's pretty much a given that the EU price in that regard is going to be more, especially because the VAT rate is more than double the US sales tax rate.

Yeah, that ~1 minute buying a digital PSN code from Amazon sure is such a hassle... And why would you remove any account? Or whatever you mean by "fully updated". I don't think you know what you are talking about, have you even tried what you are criticizing?

So is there no pre-load in Europe? That's odd. I'm buying like 90% of everything from the US store so I haven't even noticed that myself.
I bought PvZ from the US store and it wasnt really a wonder to do so. Amazon complains at two of my Mastercard debitcards and I had to transfer money to one another one which I rarely use.
I have to spoof a freaking us address on their site.
The download of said games would also take longer time because I am downloading from US servers and not the EU ones.
Soyeah i tried it and while you may not complain I am because either this works like on Xbox live or it simply is just a hassle.

Pre-load as you may know now doesnt exist here which is laughable at the very least.

What I mean by fully updated is that every week SEN wants me to log in to the account so they can verify things and its annoying!

I read the pricing issue was all based on bandwidth.

Retail and digital Sony get their cut first then retailers put a bit on for themselves and this should equal PSN prices, but it doesn't, the EU market is competitive and retailers eat into their own profits to get you to shop with them.

With digital games the bandwidth is the same amount at the retailers cut but they can't lower it like the retailers so Sony are stuck.

This could be all BS but it is some explanation which Sony won't provide.

Agreed.

The connectivity issues are pretty bad even though we pay $60 a year for PS+. Game servers are down on a regular basis.
One time it's FIFA, the other time it's Battlefield etc. I know that's not all Sony's fault and the fault could be EA's but it's still not the service I expect when I have to cough up $60 a year.
Don't get me wrong, overall I can say that I'm satisfied, just not as satisfied as I thought I would be.
I hope these issues will be worked on in 2015.

The thng that really annoys me is the price of games on PSN. Having prices that are, without fail, higher than retail is unforgivable.

(living in Sweden) I think that the prices of games in general has sunk pretty low now? Perhaps because I always shop on sales?
However, it is a little difficult to compare sales ... but generally it's crazy expensive to buy new digital games on PSN. To take an example, Far Cry 4 on ps4:

629 SEK on PSN
549 SEK on my physical media markt store
485 SEK if I import from The Hut (UK)

I know and I have corrected that mistake myself various times but it still stands that for the past years we used to pay significantly more sans taxes. Currently we'd not.

I'm now buying games from the Russian XBL store since it's the cheapest and easiest atm.

I dislike the customer service, it takes 30-45 mins to get somebody on the phone and when you complain about defective controllers or hardware these guys act like it's the first time they hear about it...

Does anyone know how much Far Cry 4 costs on US PSN?

PS4 = $59.99 via US PSN.

You can get it for $30 if you buy one of the "Pick 4" codes from a reseller.

Physical disc is $45-50 on sale. $59.99 MSRP.

US PSN is rarely cheaper than B&M stores. It's almost always a better deal to buy physical. The "Pick 4" code is just a special case.

Satisfied, only thing I don't like are those digital prices. I get physical copies of games for around 20-30% less and that is something Sony should improve, but there is always the option to buy from the US store thanks to exchange rates.

I have only two complaints as an EU Sony user.

1. The high price of new digital releases. (Although sadly it mirrors the price in bricks and mortar stores here in Ireland.)
2. The shoddy state of the PS4 OS and their ludicrously slow attempts to improve it.

Deal with those and I'm happy, the rest is all fluff to me.

EDIT: Their customer service is fucking appalling, forgot about that. I decided to lose 15 euros rather than ever call them again when they incorrectly charged me for a game I never bought. I called them 5 times, and they wouldn't refund me the purchase made on PS3 because I didn't have my Vita handy to give them its serial number (which was irrelevant). Never again, those people are complete assholes. I had the legal right to a refund and they simply stonewalled me 5 times. Fuck them.

This is equivalent to 485 SEK on psn
243 SEK if "Pick 4" codes from a reseller (thats pretty good)
363-404 SEK if on sale (To be honest, Far Cry 4 was quite cheap during "Black Friday" here also)

(compare with
629 SEK on PSN
549 SEK on my physical media markt store
485 SEK if I import from The Hut (UK) )

Taxes not calculated on

Agree with a lot that's being said and its why I never buy digital if a physical release is available.

More annoyingly is the suppossed gaming media and their journalists never asks these questions. Sony is never taken to task on its shortcomings.

As a european customer I am happy with the US PS store.

The difference in price is ridiculous most of the time. I don't mind when the price is converted like 1 US dollar = 1 Euro, but a lot of times the price is still cheaper on the US store. When I bought Shadow of Mordor it was around US$32 on the US store when on the UK one it was around ÂŁ42-45. Whyyyy, Sony? WHY?

Also, someone remember Counter Strike Global Offensive? Never released in EU.
Never knew that was a Sony game. Always thought Valve made it.
Edit: Let's say it otherwise: why support the person that made the game and has refused to comment on its absence?

Absolutely fine in the UK for me.

I don't fret on the prices of AAA games as that's down to the publishers and the sooner you realize this, the better. Its the same on Xbox one too.

Things will always be cheaper on the US store cos of tax reasons. Our prices include tax and there is nothing competing with it digitally so the prices will always be at RRP except when we have a sale. People also keep paying for them so those people are a major part of that problem.

Also, someone remember Counter Strike Global Offensive? Never released in EU.

Came here to say the same, I remember it coming out on X360 and never on PS3, ended up getting costume quest 2 on steam because of the lack of a PS4 release, same with various other games

The digital only vita releases are a little annoying too but on the plus side at least we're getting most the games in some form

And also the US store has a way better selection of PSone classics

Those things are...honestly...pretty much irrelevant to me.

I think they are ...ok. The PS4 could be cheaper , Oh and their Collectors efitions are redicolously ocerpriced for what's in there...the rest is good.

I don´t know if it is different for different regions, but I have preloaded a couple of games with my german PSN account.
Sure, at the moment you can´t preorder Bloodborne, but why would you?
As long as it is there in time for the preload I don´t see a problem.

But there are many things that should be better, patch support for smaller games is ridiculous, I´m still waiting for the Binding of Isaac patch.
Also some games release here so much later, 1001 spikes is still not out here.

But thank god it is so easy to buy stuff from the US-Psn...

Absolutely not.
The prices are too high, and there are far too many missing titles. I don't know how these licensing procedures work, but there is no doubt that EU is being treated as the third class citizen.

I am satisfied with everything but prices on games. I don't buy PS4 and PS3 games from Sweden. I import from various different places. I also don't buy from PSN because of ridicilous prices. I only buy stuff when they have sales going on.

I have read so many horror stories about their customer service, but I recently sent in my PS4 and got it back without any trouble. The same for my PS3 some years ago. I sent that mother fucker in 3 times for free.

I am happy that we have gotten some games on physical media, like inFAMOUS: First Light and some of the Ratchet games for PS3.

Their treatment of PS1 classics is absolutely dreadful, and we still have to deal with massive delays and games who are MIA.

Can't you install themes you got from one account on any other accounts on PS4?
Cuz you can do that on PS3 and you should be able to do that on PS4 too.

Where's Suikoden :(

They said January, there's still 2 weeks to go.
at worst, its delayd to Febraury, and IMO better late than never.

Can't be bothered reading other posts but they have a different system in the US, you pre-order something and you pay for it when you pre-order it rather than when it launches as happens in the SCEE land.

You also get told when you pre-order that there are no refunds.

You may well want that system but I prefer the SCEE version because I don't want to at for a game 6 months before launch and not have the option to cancel it.

In most cases it's cheaper at launch though (ÂŁ40) and with game sharing you're talking the prices that those Pick 4 codes are going for ( ÂŁ20).

I would like to see a plan for PSNow in Europe but besides that I'm ok with it. I'm not pre-ordering/pre-loading games anyway, pricing is always shit in Europe over all plattforms and i think we had some good sales in the last few months in my opinion.

Of course it could be better and I hope they improve the service this year but for now I'm satisfied.

I agree that digital pricing on PSN is ridiculous (in the UK, at least). I could walk into any retail store, and usually find a cheaper physical copy of a game. It really shouldn't be this way.

Better communication would be appreciated around release dates. There's been quite a few games that have launched in the US, which haven't made their way over here yet (mainly Vita, but some PS4 titles too). Any questions about these are just stonewalled on the blog.

I don't think there's been any word on Costume Quest 2 on PS4 yet for EU?

If Sony wind up the bricks and mortar boys who's going to actually stock their stuff?

My biggest issue by far is being stuck with 50hz PS1 classics, souring what would otherwise be one of the Vita's best features.

Getting an objectively worse version of a game I've paid for (usually higher price, too) because of the region I live in isn't something that should ever happen in 2015.

Surprised there isn't a bigger deal made of this but I suppose not many people play them or care.

Not at all.
Crap prices, games on PC are literally half the price at launch.
Psn is way worse than it was on ps3, constant errors and downtime despite it now being paid.
Vita is getting barely any of the good Japan games though that's not entirely their fault.
PS plus games have got awful, yearly vita games not being replaced was a slap in the face as well.
Also that final fantasy 7 anouncement has given me unstoppable hatred for all things sony and square Enix :( could they be anymore out of touch with their fans?

Im considering selling my ps4/vita and just sticking to PC and my preferred platform has always been console.

I don't buy games from the only store usually unless that's the only means to acquire it or if it's a classic I want to revisit so I don't have any of these issues you are having.

The take-away I guess is that, first of all, you shouldn't pre-order any games at all and secondly you shouldn't pre-order games on Playstation's online store.

It's absolutely unacceptable that the US store gets a pre-load option for Resident Evil HD and the EU store doesn't, I mean it's obviously clear that a pre-load is possible, so why don't we get it too?

It doesn't work like that. You're downloading from the same servers.
