Fez coming to other platforms (none officially announced yet)

I'm sure that as both a modern Japanese game developer and a personal computer, you're deeply affected by his comment.
This is a remarkably stupid post. So if someone says something offensive towards a group of people (or wrong about a type of device), they can only be called out on their remarks by people within that group (or by the device)?

I just don't understand why you'd miss out on GOTY material just because of some off-the-cuff remark the developer made. It's not something that would bother me, sure I'd think less of him if I cared, but it would have no impact on my purchase (unless it was something OTT like overt racism/sexism/etc).

Neat. Will double dip on Steam when it's 3 bucks. Hopefully it doesn't crash, stutter and delete your saves this time around.

Well, first of all, I said I want to play the game to see what people are going on about, I'll just try to find a way to do so while giving Fish as little money as possible (legally of course, ideally via a humble bundle or a really cheap sale).

Secondly, I'm not very convinced that the game would be "GOTY material" for me. Of course I can't say for sure before I play it, but what people on GAF who's opinions I trust said about it seems to confirm that it's just another neat indie platformer. Those really aren't rare these days (and not really my favourite genre either).

If it was a party-based RPG and everyone agreed that it's the best thing since BG2 then yeah, I'd be totally willing to overlook some stupid remarks or lack of post-release support by the developer. But its really not a game I can live without, and as such external factors can easily affect my decision.

I think the 3DS would be the perfect choice for FEZ, I can really see the game benefiting from the 3D aspects of the 3DS.
Agreed. Would buy in a heartbeat.

And for those saying that adding a 3D effect would ruin the game since it's 2D... I think different objects could occupy different layers based on their expected 3D depth, and I'm sure that's not the only way 3D could be added to the equation.

Either that or they'll have to rework every map into 3D a la Cave Story.

Well I would encourage you to give it a go regardless. It's about as much of a platformer as it is a puzzle game, with a sublime OST. Enjoy.

I wish ;_;

"I'll play the game but will make sure the creator gets as little compensation as possible" seems like a pretty self-serving way to make a "principled" stand.

I think Phonomezer's original point was that your identity shouldn't be so linked to a platform or product or design style that you take insulting words about said platform/product/design style to heart in the first place. Fish's words should have zero effect on your decision, no matter what your level of interest in the game might be. If Fish was making statements about groups with a social identity that should rightly be defended, that would be another matter.

If it was just one thing I could accept that, but between the patching deal (for which MS' policies are also partially to blame, but not exclusively), the Japanese games comment and the spreadsheets tweet (both of which are entirely on him) it doesn't paint a rosy picture. Especially when there are so many indie devs out there who need my money and don't act like idiots.

It's not really such a big deal that you need to quote me twice though ;)
Well, fair enough. I don't think he deserves as much shit for this as he's gotten, but you're far from his worst distractor anyway. :p

Double quoting happened because I edited and moved my post around a bunch, was not intended. >_>
