FF XV director looking into including a level editor on the PC version

I-I think I may love this man

Definitely gonna get it considering how mich they're going in on the pc version. Might save up to upgrade to a 1070 too

Why does Platinum insist on getting paid? They should do it for the exposure of having patched a game for a major AAA developer.
Cause these things take resources/manpower away from things that they actually get paid for

If they do this and it's a good system then I... I will never stop playing this game. I already love it on PS4 but omg if modders can create the content the base game is missing, wow.

Im new to PC gaming and dont know anything about modding, how realistic would it be for a modder to, for instance, make the other content fully playable? Some PS4 gamers glitched their way into it so it has at least some work done for it

Awesome. People can make their own Versus XIII now.

I wouldn't put it past modders to find a way to implement turn-based combat somehow as well.

Never underestimate modders.

Idea of mods and this are selling me on the PC version for sure...
Imagine remaking the insomnia invasion section in FFXV.

Hope a 980Ti is actually good enough for it though.

I don't know if it's fair to leave Platinum off the hook entirely. Sure, if S-E doesn't ask for patches and pay for it, there's nothing they can do, but we're talking about fullscreen support. This isn't asking too much, and it's not the kind of thing that should require a patch in the first place. Last game I remember having an issue with fullscreen was Metal Gear Rising. I don't think it's a coincidence.

It's gonna run it better than the Pro does.

All those sweet NVIDIA effects will obliterate your performance. Some won't mind playing at 1440p-4K @30FPS. I'm not one of them. Need that 60FPS or higher. That's really one of the biggest reasons I waited.

Sounds like a proper, super enhanced PC port that will be worth the $60 price.

Game is super long as well (130 hours for me) so it will be worth every penny on the PC.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THE HIDDEN DUNGEON, FOLKS

SINGLE BEST DUNGEON IN FF SERIES (1-15) EXCEPT FF12'S GREAT CRYSTAL

One of the redeeming factors of the game alongside with music, graphics and the combat system.

pitioss dungeon is a great spacial puzzle dungeon. Loved it. The problem comes from people actually getting there (hint: landing in auto driving mode is actually easier) and some people don't like spacial puzzles and platforming in some sections can be a pain.

But Yeah, If there is indeed a in-game level editor and an easy way of getting maps/ quests, this is 100% worth full price.

(The only thing I need nodded for this game is an limited item system (like in kh) and locking players out of inventory in battle. Those 2 fixes would make this game much much harder and much more fun!!!)

My hot take on this was initially negative but reading the thread

Man just think of what modders could do with the right tools

They are throwing everything they can think of as far as what to do with the FFXV cycle

Ridiculous kitchen sink thinking but hey this particular idea could lead to something special

It was absolutely the best FF dungeon ever

I was in there for hours before i stopped and realized i was still playing FFXV and hadn't actually hit anything since i walked in

For the LIFE of me i can't understand why they didn't utulize the platforming versatility more in the regular dungeons

But with modding?

Holy shit, can't wait to see people recreate areas like Temple of the Ancients from FF7

People seem to have a bit of a warped idea of what modding's scope and limitations actually are.

Unlocking content and rebalancing the game in even drastic ways? Sure. Retexturing? Yeah.

Anything involving new complex 3d assets or animations? Very unlikely.
I mean, total conversions are a thing, but at the fidelity of FFXV it would be a gargantuan effort for anyone, let alone amateurs doing it in their free time.

If they include a level editor, that basically by necessity means enabling you to create new world geometry at the very least - and if they are at all serious about letting people create custom maps, they have to include tools to import other kinds of models as well.

People have created entire new games with Source modding tools.

What? If given the tools, anything is possible. Skyrim has a ton of new 3d assets made by modders from scratch. Don't even get me started with animations...teehee.

He say they are looking into the possibilities of an editor. I will be very very surprised if they actually end up making one. It's not something you just make on the side for fun and free at the end of the product cycle.

Other PC games that have editors, like the Bethesda games, have an editor because the whole game development is based upon it. It's what the developers use themselves to actually make the game.

Still have many months to go before release, right? There's time.

What do you mean free? This will be a 60 dollar game.

Read my edit.
It akes a lot of time and effort, and FFXV assets look significantly more complex than Elder Scrolls'.

It's not impossible, technically, but i'd keep my expectations in check, before dreaming about Insomnia's invasion mods and the like.

Either my sarcasm detector is broken (quite possible) or you are just trolling. I mean you can't be thinking that a contractor is going to put in resources and money toward a property they don't own (and possibly can't even legally patch) for free, right?

Anyhow, back to FFXV, I am quite excited, considering that there are a lot of assets on disk available, it is conceivable that there could be a lot of expansion possibilities.

Im really curious what they can do with the enemy continent or tenebrae, can they make it to where we travel to altissia without a loading screen?

They had swimming animations in the game, maybe they can finish that up? Really excited for the possibilities.

Well, clearly the developers of FF XV also have a toolset they used to make the game. And clearly that toolset runs on PC.

So it's not so much a matter of "making" one as it is if extracting and polishing one from the tools they do have.

Now, I also think that's unlikely to happen, I'm just clarifying what it means, and the probable path towards it.
